A look at the December 2023 version of the ARRL 10 Meter Contest. Conditions were not optimum but Qs still could be made. Transceiver: Icom IC-7610 Antenna: Mosley MP-33-NW #arrl
Excellent video. I don’t get on 10 meters very often. You explained 10 meter propagation gave a great demonstration of how the band behaves hour by hour. You understand propagation, you explain it in a way that’s easy to understand. One of the best ham radio videos ever.
Thank you for the kind words. 10m paths recently have been rather consistent which makes them easy to predict. The Ham Clock software was helpful in adding a visual manifestation of said paths; and made me look smarter than I really am. 😀 73! de WX0V
Conditions certainly were better than what we saw, say, 4 years ago, and stateside mobile Qs from TX to MD are proof of that. As a DXer, I was looking for deep paths into eastern EU and the Middle East, which were not present. 73! de WX0V
To be fair that Inovato software bundle setup looks really neat ! Had a listen around on 28 yesterday and today and plenty of activity this side in Europe, EA3X is always a huge signal with me as i work him regulary in contests, however since the ARRL, RSGB and others decided to effectively punish Russian amateurs , i now only compete in a contest if no body is playing politics ! Great video as always......73
Yes..the Inovato is really neat and mine is running as I write this...just without the wall-wart. For the money it's an excellent value. Thanks for your comment and 73! de WX0V
My experience was similar with the short EU opening. I had a strong west coast opening yet weak to KH6 and JA. 10m is interesting in that the skip distance will often obscure a cqing station. You’ll hear the calls and response but not them. At first i thought they were running split!
😀 On a more serious note, I'd stick with directional, horizontal polarization. I do have a vertical on 10m, but it's not even remotely close to what I get with my beam. However, on 80m, give me a vertical or give me death! 73! de WX0V
@@JayN4GO Yeah, they would be thrilled to see those. 😀 Actually, I have a full-size 1/4 wave for 80m, but it's a wire which makes it neighbor-friendly. NFL starts soon so I gotta run...73! de WX0V
@@JayN4GO The Vikings won but have a bunch of injuries and a deep playoff run is not expected. Loved the Steelers from the 1970's; perhaps the greatest team of all time. 73! de WX0V
Sunday has been better, despite a slightly lower SFI number. However, no deep shots into far eastern EU, or the Middle East here. Way more signals than Saturday, though! 73! de WX0V
@SuburbanDXing yes...got on about 11z as EU was coming in...did a small run on both CW/SSB...rate was fair, nothing too impressive... also heard a bunch of echo, especially on US spots...RBN shows a bunch of bad calls because of it
