Normal shore power in the UK is 4 or 8kW so to recharge a flat battery it’s 62 or 31 hours. 750W = 1hp so 250kW battery is around 300hp and with a 400hp motor 100% to flat is 45 minutes flat out. 250kW in diesel is around 65ltrs. I’m pro electric but the use case for each design needs to be better explained so operators can see which design best fits their application. I’m guessing this craft has dedicated infrastructure at its home base to reduce its recharge time to ‘overnight’.
Most companies that invest in an electric boat for their daily operations have their own infrastructure. The company who owns this boat has 44kW power available. They usually charge overnight. With fast chargers available at 150+ kW you can charge the batteries in about an hour. Thank you for your input, we will try make more use cases with detailed explanations in the future.
