The Art of Geosteering, Unlocking The Inaccessible Energy Reserves
Abdelhak Benkhelifa is a senior Geosteering & Reservoir Mapping Geologist at Schlumberger North Africa with over 12 years’ experience in oilfield. He has engineer degree in Petroleum Geology from M’hamed Bougara University - Boumerdes and MS Degree in Sedimentary Basins Geology from Kasdi Merbah University - Ouargla.
Abdelhak’s early career was started as Borehole Geologist focused on processing and interpretation of borehole image logs -acquired in a single well by wireline-, from basic structural and sedimentary analysis to a complete fracture identification & characterization for a single well or multi-well studies using geologic information to understand the geological behavior of a reservoir.
Abdelhak now focuses on Well Placement service, landing & geosteering horizontal wells using Logging While Drilling (LWD) tools, applying different technique, Correlation, Dip Determination, Bed Boundary Mapping, Reservoir Scale Mapping and Strategic Geosteering, drilled over 70 horizontal wells in more than 15 countries.
Since 2018. He is co-leading projects of North Africa (Algeria-Libya) to place horizontal and re-entry wells in real-time while mapping the reservoir extension using 3D ultra-deep electromagnetic inversions.
