The Art of Makoto Shinkai's Your Name (book review) 

the visuals of this film are out of this world

His art is really the best background art I hv ever seen, it give me goosebumps whenever I see it, it's looks like watching the real scenery in the best time and the best lighting.

Even his work in 2007, 5 centimeters per second was stunning

This movie just keeps me coming back. Couple times a year I'll watch it and it blows me away every time.

tears flow whenever i see his backgrounds, im an artist and i really look up to his work and the thought of not being able to draw this good "yet" makes me sad and inspired at the same time

There's SO MUCH good information about how to create emotionally captivating backgrounds, how to play with light and contrast, how to push boundaries to evoke a particular mood - an essential tool for any artist! And after seeing you review this book along with its gorgeous illustrations, it's evident how much more refined and detailed the art style has become. The dude is a genius for details! And yeah, you're right - there's no English translation available right now. That's still okay, since it's filled to the brim with pictures, so we're not missing out on much, right? xDDD

And for artist.. one thing for sure. Shinkai using a lot of default brushes more than custom brushes when painting the these background with photoshop

I think they have it in Kinokuniya in Indonesia so I'm sure the one in Singapore would have stock of it also.
