enjoyable video. i find with this type of music im pretty bored of it after a minute, but after 5 mins i love it and after ten i don't want it to ever stop...
As an SH-101 owner I am pretty impressed with the SH-01. I haven't kept up with Roland's new offerings, first time I've seen it, but it sounds about right, and the interface is pretty close. Cool.
Surgeon's use of the 45000 reminds me of @Alessandro Cortini 's use of the tascam porta studio. It's also interesting the Lyra 8's delay unit, I assume, is affected by the OTO delay.
I use the Lyra 8 into a Roland MX-1 mixer and engage the sidechain. Everything that comes out seems musical in relation to the drums and melodic layers.
I am a long term Octatrack user (since 2011!) and have never found the pickup machines (the Elektron term for the OT's looper) to be reliable or intuitive enough to use consistently. Yep fun occasionally, but its not a friendly tool, particularly in something like a live set. The track recording functions are great for improvising with and if you check out people using the 'fader transition trick' that is brilliant for live work.
Yeah bummer if youre all warmed up, put on your best dance shoes and then end up having to listen to surgeon strangling an electric chicken for 3 hours...🧐
