I wish someone would show a fully worked question with a good introduction abd conclusion rather than just explaining IRAC again and again. It's the complete structure of a first class answer real life I want to see. Real scenarios often don't enough info to make firm conclusions, and include grey areas where there are several possible counter arguments. If you're new to law, there's more than understanding IRAC to aceing these questions.

Have you been able to find such videos or articles? I'd really appreciate it if you could kindly share them.

I'm an Australian going back to law school after having to take a long break. This is brilliant as pre-study to refresh what I learnt a few years ago. Thanks

Thank you ! As a first year student i felt so puzzled about approaching problem questions due to its ambiguous nature. I was fortunate enough to come across this video which has clarified my confusion on structuring problem questions.

Gareth, your channel will grow, due to the fact you are going into more concise detail on the application of IRAC, that is why I personally have subscribed, however, that being said, to differentiate from the pack, you will need a problem Question and breaking it down as was described in the video you posted, this is what students can relate to. Unfortunately, once someone Legal studies have ended assumes that the information given to new students is concise and understandable, THIS is not the case. Students need things to broken down in fine detail and rebuilt, where they can see that process of construction (holding a child's hand and leading him). This is what you as a content creator can do, to differentiate yourself from the rest of the pack and not worry about production quality ( in time...not now, the quality of subject matter more important), This approach will pay dividends in the long run through subscribers and keeping in mind that the video will receive views after many ,many years after it was made. I wish you with all my heart success on your channel, Good luck.

This is genuinely incredibly useful feedback and appreciate it a lot. I do feel like I waste a lot of time trying to improve the quality of the video instead of creating the most valuable content possible. I will certainly take everything you've said on board and apply it to my subsequent videos. I've unfortunately been a little ill recently (non-covid related) so haven't been able to keep up with making videos. But when I get back into things properly I'll try to increase the value I offer and worry less about production quality for the minute! Thank you! 😁

Thank you for you sharing! Your videos are really valuable! While I agree most of the content of this video, engage some critical analysis that directly related to the question will level up the grade. For examples, if the result of the problem question may lead to some unjust result or unsatisfactory result in law, show the defect and mention the reform would help. Also, some problem question seem direct but in fact it is pre-requisite that some discussion of development that area of law, missing it may cause losing marks. But it depends on the requirement of different institutions. Again, really appreciate your sharing!

In South Africa we call this IPAC and applying it sometimes is a pain in the a** because we weren't properly taught how to apply it when tackling questions that request us to provide legal advice.
@heygarethevans
@heygarethevans Год назад
It can be pretty rigid and difficult to apply when you’re not taught how to use it properly, so I understand your pain

In my gdl program we only have pq no essays and they expect us to critically analyze judgments and show critical analysis but I don’t understand where that fits in and did really poorly on exams for some modules

Sure, or you can dive straight into IRAC - there isn't a huge need for an intro when doing problem questions

2:28 nice try but not IRAC is not legal advice to a fictious client as you say, its more like thinking like a lawyer or answering a hypothetical questions with an objetive methodology. A legal memo is advice to a client although similar to IRAC but its not the same; just the header and body alone of a legal memo is different from IRAC. similar but not irac.
