In his talk, Simon Lancaster will take you on a journey into the surreal, raising profound questions about the power of language and the language of power. Forget fake news and alternative facts, the biggest lie we are told every day is that there are some people among us who are not human. Find out how we can fight back.
Simon Lancaster is one of the world's top speechwriters and the author of several books on communication including You Are Not Human: How Words Kill. He first became a speechwriter in the late 1990s, working for members of Tony Blair's Cabinet. He has since gone on to write speeches for the CEOs of some of the biggest companies in the world, including Unilever, HSBC and Intercontinental Hotels.

An absolute brilliant masterpiece. Beautiful talk. The power of words: at TEDxVerona Simon idea's was to restore rhetoric in curriculum so as to lead and build a better democracy. Today his idea is to open our eyes so as we become aware of how words can mislead us, so that we can better differentiating between facts and fiction, truth and lies, metaphorical and literal. That's the way we can build bridges in our society.

Thank you for the speech! Words are double edge sword, use it for good or bad, it’s the people.

This is an important and timely presentation. I hope Simon has the ear of those who can influence curricula from primary to post-doc so that rhetoric is restored to its rightful place.

Maybe it also doesn't get recommended. I found this by searching for it, as I've seen other talks by him on public speaking which are also excellent. Simon Lancaster is getting slept on.
