Thank you for watching and giving your thoughts in the comme- Alright, I am about to give y'all a lesson in English. I see QUITE A FEW of you pointing out how I say "contest" throughout the video. How I say "kan-test" over "kun-test". So lemme explain. EDIT: I am about to say "adjective" instead of verb. I typed this out very quickly, you can make fun of me for it. The word "contest" has two different pronunciations in both American and British English. One when it is used as a Noun, and one when it is used as an adjective. As a noun, contest is said as "kan-test", while the adjective version is said as "kun-test". I use the word "contest" as a noun throughout the majority of the video, since contests in Apex are the main topic. I still use the adjective form of "contest" in parts of the video when it is being used as an adjective(5:44, 9:00, 12:12, 13:39). If you don't believe me? Try saying "in a kun-test" vs "in a kan-test" and tell me which one sounds right. Did I just make a whole ass comment defending my use of the word "contest"? Yes? Was it a waste of time? Yes. Will I be thinking about this in the shower later? Also yes. (thank you for watching genuinely. Means a lot.)
Its not an adjective its a verb Mr. English Lesson... You took a risk and went against a colloquialism in a video game to be technically correct, no one calls it a "con-test" and you know it since everyone is just shortening "cun-testing" (the conjugated verb). You made your bed now lie in it lol (just having fun, amazing video!)
@@KelpYT You seriously had me in the first half, was about to comment telling you you’re a complete wanker but you got me! Let myself down as a Brit today for not getting the sarcasm haha
No, it's breaking down competitive apex, most don't contest, rotating is far more important or have the biggest learning curve. If it was a beginner tutorial than yes this should be the first vid
Disagree, if the first thing you learn in Apex is how to contest you are already learning it wrong. You don't want to always contest its not the best strategy, more of a gamble and it doesn't help for endgame
The first thing to learn SHOULD be to contest/how to drop. Because that's what you do when you first get into the game. How are you going to do anything else like rotate if you can't survive the drop?
@@Tobbles1 He has low subs because it's a very new channel. There are plenty of apex content creators growing fast. Look at Jhawk. People have been saying the game is dying since 2020, buddy. It's still doing fine. Quit being so negative and just enjoy the videos.
Please keep these sorts of analysis up! Your level of attention to detail would have legend specific content work too btw (art of bloodhound or art of support class)
6:12 "loot" is one of the main points in drop loot fight, but the word "the" isn't, but it was necessary to finish the sentence (the drop is important to get.. the loot) so I appreciate that LOOT was green and "the" wasn't. nice touch 👌🏻
How about a video breaking down how to get into competitive apex? Breaking down the challenger circuits and LCQ and showing some successful teams that have risen from challengers.
I actually like this video much more than your previous ones. In your other videos it felt like you had a lot of irrelevant or filler game footage... This video all the footage felt right and illustrated the points you were making. good job!
idk why Mooreover is saying it this way. "CON-test" is the noun that means a competition. "CUN-test" is the verb which means to engage in a competition. In apex when teams are contesting (cun-testing) each other we just shorten it to a "cun-test." I guess you could argue Mooreover is techinically correct since we are otherwise repurposing the verb pronunciation for a "new noun", but colloquially I have never heard anyone call it a "con-test" in apex. Sounds really jarring every time. Either way, phenomenal breakdown! I only explain for the sake of knowledge
Id say he's using it right. You're not wrong! But you cun-test in a con-test. He's talking about the art of the situation and the actions therein. Could go either way but I'd personally use it the way he is 🤔
It's not a required rule to land on a POI you picked. It's common etiquette. Nobody wants to ruin their game by landing on somebody else off the drop. But there are situations where teams will land on a different POI even when they claim another one. (Optic thirding KCP & Dreamfire, for instance. Or Dark Zero griefing Aurora at Ship Fall in Split 2 Playoffs)
This is because player vods from LAN had occasional broadcast issues. They're the only vods available from Elben Gate Gaming saving them, so we work with what we got.
con·test /ˈkänˌtest/ an event in which people compete for supremacy in a sport, activity, or particular quality. /kənˈtest/ engage in competition to attain (a position of power). The incorrect pronunciation is really bugging me, just a small nitpick.
I think technically he is correct, ˈkänˌtest is the noun and kənˈtest is the verb. While colloquially it is ridiculous to say "con-test" lol, "cun-test" is a verb which Apex players use as a noun because of "contesting." Since we are talking about a noun in the video "the con-test" technically you should pronounce it the way he does (I think?). I do think the colloquialism should be used, I just find it interesting that he could be technically correct
