I'm working as a matte painter for film visual effects. It's fascinating to see how the same techniques I use applied to tease out scientific data in a visually aesthetic way. I was always interested in astronomy since a kid, but was always best at art. I hadn't thought that it was possible to combine the two disciplines until seeing this. But I should have realised actually. A no brainer when realising you have to deal with Hubble's and Webb's raw data. Absolutely brilliant lecture!
As a hobbyist AP'r I was tickled to see that you are using PI. People don't realize the many hours involved in capturing a good data set. Even so, it's really not much of anything to look at without good editing skills to extract the data without over emphasizing. Really enjoyed the video. 👍
Oh no! Why are the posted monthly talks going away after the end of 2023? I will miss them. I represent “general public” and a member of the North Carolina Raleigh Astronomy Club and and affiliate member of AAS. I enjoy learning about Astronomy. Thank you to the team presenting today!
re 1:18:45 Sonification requires the 'viewer' to be lucid in the 'language of sonification'. Is there a useful or justifiable VI population that can benefit from sonification?
It was! We reupload the videos with some editing and no watermark for a better experience for those who missed the live. Thanks for being there for our lecture!
