The Artemis Quartet Schubert - String quartet No. 15 in G major, D 887 Part I. Allegro molto moderato Artemis Quartet Vineta Sareika, violin Gregor sigl violin Friedemann Weigle, viola Eckart Runge, cello
i don't often listen to this. It leaves me emotionally shattered. My normal recording is the Italian. But this is certainly special. This quartet at least stands as an equal amongst the beethoven late quartets.
From the start it begins with drama. But then the sun emerges from the tremeloes. Then back to drama - the lover is hidden again. but the dance entwines them both briefly.
quick comparison with the Italian - they take much much longer, maybe they do more repeats. but at 8:36 the artemis is very lovely, but the equvalent with the Italian is utterly desolate. No, really desolate. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YLBVTtu5sFw.html at 16:00 or so. Silent weeping.
