THE ASSASSINATION OF QUEEN ATHALIAH OF JUDAH 

In this video, we learn about the Kingdom of Judah’s only female monarch, queen Athaliah. Much is not known about her reign but she was from the family of King Ahab of Israel and married Jehoram, the king of Judah. She and her family including her son Ahaziah were idol worshippers and they led the children of Judah into idolatry and worshipping of false gods. After the death of her son Ahaziah, she killed the royal family and usurped the throne for herself. But her grandson Joash survived the slaughter, thanks to his Aunt and the priest Jehoiada who hid him in the temple of the Lord for six years until the time was ready for him to ascend the throne. Athaliah was queen for six years, her life came to an end when she was assassinated in the palace courtyard.
