On June 25-27, 2024, Hon. Tunabuna, the Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, visited Vanua Levu and traveled by boat up the Dogotuki River for 20 minutes. During this trip, he met and held a talanoa session with farmers on the island of Namukalau and observed firsthand the work being done by Live & Learn North in partnership with MOAW to establish a chicken shed, green house, and drip irrigation model field in order to improve food security and nutrition on Namukalau island in the tikina Dogotuki.
On the second day, the Hon. Assistant Minister for Agriculture & Waterways traveled to personally inspect the restoration of the old logging route in Vanua Levu's interior. He went from Dogotuki to the cocoa road, which led to Loga-Ni Ota, then to the Baacu settlement, then down to Sese in Saqani, where he met with the Paradise Digging Limited employees in charge of the rebuilding. From there, he went to Nacula village, Valevonu village, Nasasa, and returned to Labasa.
