I’ve just bought this in the 32” and got to say it doesn’t feel front heavy at all even with the extended chokes in. Having had Miroku /Beretta/Brownings in the past I just fancied something different for smashing clays and I’m not disappointed at all especially when you get all that in 32” form for under £800 brand new!!
I bought this very gun and it’s great. It’s not front heavy at all even with the chokes in. Pointless checking the balancing of a shotgun without cartridges loaded in my opinion. Unless you’re gonna be shooting fresh air at clays 😂
Keep up the good work John. It would be good to see a series about like you said "showing ATA what they could have made" This is my Saturday night. A bottle of Red wine and TGS episodes. Would also love to see more reviews of side by sides. Thanks have a good weekend
I am waiting on finding the right gun for our next cheap to charming series. I have however started on our next back from the brink project which should be exciting
I've just applied to get one of these, was originally looking for a second hand Beretta 686e sporter but when I tried it out it didn't fit me at all and for near £400 more I didn't think it was worth it. The dealer then let me try out the ATA and it just seemed to fit me a lot better, maybe slight adjustment in the comb needed but should be easy to do. Also got a good deal on it new too! Really looking forward to it and if anyone has one could you let me know what it's like to shoot over say 50-100 clays? Would be much appreciated. Great review!
Definitely a good unit. I might be a little bit odd and personally don't go with all engravings, but am a sucker for plain black and red. Best wishes from Northern Ireland .
Had one of these blow up the barrel on me. Fault was put down to dodgy manufacturered chokes by the company "TEAL" don't use their chokes on this gun to be safe.
I have the 30" and agree with other comments. With cartridges in and the extended chokes it is perfectly balanced and I find it very easy to move and get on target (granted, I am a bit of a lump and heavy things are not much of an issue). As standard, I believe it comes with 2 x extended in 1/2 and 1/4 and 3 internal chokes but I cannot be 100% certain as I bought mine used. I've not tried it with the internal chokes as 1/2 and 1/4 are perfect for me at the clay ground and I smash a fair few and its me not the gun that the issue in smashing more.
Thanks, great review. To clarify, are all the chokes that come with it extended ? My recent purchase only came with 1/4 & 1/2 extended with the others being black and flush
Being in Scotland it was easier to buy my Supersport from Bisley. However if I lived down south TGS would have been my first choice. The wood quality and finish of my gun is excellent. It'a just like any other gun, so if you can shoot correctly, you can smash clays with anything. I don't plan on ever selling it so value is irrelevant.
Hi I'm just getting into clay pigeon shooting and keep being told to get an ATA, but which one is best the laminate or this one or should I buy 2nd hand, got upto £1K Max. I know its about fit, but want to narrow down to about 3 before trying.
Forget brands, tags etc make a short list and go and shoulder as many as you can, even better shoot as many as you can. Clay shooting is 99% being able to mount and swing the gun consistently, pick the gun that fits and feels best, the ata is a great gun for the price, no it will not last 30yrs of heavy use, but it is still a great gun, used miroku, lanber, even older winchester, nikko etc try them all.
Jon - love at the end of the video your exciting improvement ideas on this great looking Turkish plate smasher!! - if I buy a new black 30" ATA SP Supersport from TGS and give you permission to do all the mods you'd like to (on camera as I'm sure you'd prefer!) - are you up for that?? Think I saw a guilty twinkle in your eye you might just quite like this base gun - with mods of course as you suggest??? I'm happy to commit my £800 / £900 GBP into your very capable hands Jon - win or lose! (plus moderate mod costs) I pays my money - I takes my chances - I understand the risks 😎😎 Just one stipulation .... no engraving, please no engraving!! (especially French orientated superb hand chiselled style) - at least not just for now anyway Jonny😉 - cheers (hehe!) 👍😎😎 My payment awaits your demand for the challenge!
