Excuse me? The Catholic Church doesn’t encourage you to give them money?! I have to strongly disagree! I live in Austria and I grew up catholic - though my parents didn’t force it on me - and as soon as I moved out into my first own apartment guess what was in my mail box the same week? A pre printed check from me to the Catholic Church with the amount of money THEY estimated I should give them according to what they knew about me and what I did for a living. So don’t tell me they are not pushing anyone to give them money.
MorgueAbsolue to put it into perspective the United States is worth $269trillion, with a population of 320million. If the country was sold off and the money divided by the population that would be $840,000 per person. The Vatican, not including the Catholic Church as a whole. But just the Vatican is worth between $10billion and $15billion, with a population of 1000. That’s $10-$15million per person. There’s a reason the Catholic Church can afford gold gilded everything.
He was delusional, I used to go to church for shits and giggles sometimes in my early 20's an played the role of a devout intellectual, I learned to read the bible in Latin to impress them, and they always made me participate in reading or singing the psalms, despite not having a typical masculine radio voice (I'm more of a spinto/dramatic tenor); they never even suspected that I'm an atheist method-naturalist that practices "magic" and studies "mystery traditions and esoteric doctrines" just for the fun of it. And every single time, the "father" would exhort people to put money in the cloth bags on poles, or stuff a monthly envelop with the "tithe" in to an urn, but I don't think they called it that way, or if it was a larger amount (larger than what???, how much money are those poor people giving them?) they should deliver the closed envelop directly into the treasury administrator's hands; and many more shameless begging for money, it felt embarrassed for them.
@@ookeekthelibrarian That's Frank. He called in in episode 789, 801 and 806. He seems to be a prank caller or poe who comes up with odd criticisms for the show.
Saying something exists outside of space is nonsensical because inside and outside are spatial terms. They are actually using outside as a metaphor for "not" as outside is not inside. They are trying to say that god is not spatial like perhaps a concept or idea? Saying god is not temporal is also a problem because all action occurs through time making god inactive.
@@secularargument Probably related to something said in the video, but given I made that reply a year-ish ago, it's not entirely reasonable to expect me to remember my motivation for doing so.
Tracy's smile reminds me a lot of my ex. The girl I've loved the most in my entire life. She destroyed my life. It's painful to watch Tracy when she smiles. But beautiful at the same time. Man.. :(
~ Five years later, and Tracie and Russell still riveting and interesting: this video is intriguing and very listenable - thank you all in 2019! Also, please let's start discouraging this "hey you guys" greeting (heard twice in this video) - on it's face it negates the existence of the women in the room or in earshot or wherever. 50+% of the population is devalued enough for this greeting to further drift accepted into the English language lexicon. Just saying... Cheers, DAVEDJ ~
I think he has a thing for Russell, like an infatuation obsession, he usually only calls when Russell is on, and he always recognizes him... there's one episode in which he hung up on him immediately, then the screeners insisted he wasn't a troll, they put him on the line again, and Russell had guessed right at the end, he was a troll... I was hilarious how pissed off Russell was, he snarkly said "Thank you call screeners" with a sarcastic grin... 🤣🤣🤣 priceless
How dare people allow other people call into a show to argue with someone who has a different viewpoint! These monsters must be stopped! It's not fair, it's not like they can choose not to call...outrageous! BTW Tracie is so Hot!
I can’t believe how many Americans are scared of the label atheist in the uk we just take people as they are it’s no big thing 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ but then again we have brains and think for ourselves 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I had a friend who once asked me if I believed in Jesus. I said; "I believe it's possible that Jesus could have walked the Earth, but him being God I didn't know." To this day the guy always talks about "our Lord and savior" and I just nod along and steer the conversation away from religion. I swear he heard none of the words I said after "I believe ..." In the US it's just easier to tell people "I'm not really religious" instead of saying you're an atheist. This way the holier-than-thou crowd won't bother you too much.
