There's a lot of cliche things that makes you roll your eyes in this movie but somehow it's still one of my favorite shark movies that I played on repeat 😅

Even though I'm a great swimmer I have a rule nothing can break it - I never ever swim away from the beach.

The dolphins are all running...you know something big is around

Ok. So the water goes from dead calm- I wondered why she on a surfboard... to sudden waves to dead calm again? Yep. Totally believable.😂

That whale carcass is a buffet for nearly every living thing in the water around there. That shark would go for the soft, chewy blubber and forget about dessert.

Blake Lively's acting chops were on full, glorious display in this movie. She was very good & convincing, & if not quite Oscar material than her performance was definitely worthy of a Golden Globe nod. A very talented girl indeed! Blake❤❤❤❤❤

This movie and the movie about a couple being left behind while diving, I think it was called open water, is why I don't go any deeper than knee high in the ocean. People don't realize that there are sharks no more than 30 yards away from you all the time. Once you go waist deep. Especially in the southern states. Just look at drone footage online.

Did a great job capturing the paranoia that can take over a surfer when the sets arent rolling in and youre just sitting there waiting... shit seems weird all of the sudden Start seeing shadows ...feel weird currents of water rush by your feet . You become very uncool with the fact that you dont have eyes in the back of your head. Heaven forbid your board gets away from you after getting tossed by a set you farmed. Thats the longest swim ever for anyone whose experienced it. Also choosing to lay on your board vs sitting up to keep your exposed legs out of the water ( a fleeting comfort at best) .

Don't you just wonder about that indestructible human belief that you can head out to sea, alone on a mostly deserted beach area and then get shocked and surprised that nature exists to survive on you.

Man this was a good movie. Rammed with suspense. You made it more for yourself. Just watching and wondering. Relating to real life. your senses high on edge. What to do if it were you.

This was such a fun movie! Highly recommend.

havent seen this movie yet; so im watching clip to see if its like JAWS or Soul Surfer vibe. Either way...still makes me scared for ocean. But i do respect it.

Not sure a GW would bother with a scrawny surfer when there's a giant floating buffet (i.e. a Whale Carcass) right there....UNLESS - it is a territorial attack, and not an attempt to eat her....PLUS the bite to her leg, it would have least taken the whole thigh muscle, a shark that size (again - maybe trying to defend it's meal and not eat her...)

Good movie, but you will not find a Great White around a pod of dolphins. The shark will usually take off.

Lifelong surfer here to de hollywood this. Sharks will eat free dead meat all day before chasing living prey. They have no vendettas aka Jaws movies. That whale had been dead for days, the whole break would be a chum pool for the sharkies. You can smell a rotting whale a mile away. Hot chicks don't go surfing alone especially in a spot that promising. That size sharkie woulda left more than a grabby on her leg. She's wearing a long sleever but naked bottom half. Jus sayin surf a bit and learn the ocean from that lens. Don't be a kook.

Who the fuck gets close to a carcass in the ocean??! And sits near it😂??! Through the whole scene here, her skimming along the reef makes me cringe the most. Can't stand that shit. Getting cut up as you're careened along by the surf with no way to stop it....nope🫨. Love the shark's silhouette in the wave. Not a Lively fan but epic movie. She did really well with minimal speech...mostly expression...and mainly her character alone.

Also surely the shark would just gorge on the huge whale carcass?

The gash on the thigh was unnecessary and somehow absurd.....

Of course, the premise of this movie is extremely weak; with an entire whale carcass available to scavenge, and no competition for the meat? Why would the shark want anything to do with a skinny, 110 lb. human being? It wouldn't. It would ignore her, if it even knew she was there. Unless she paddled right up to the carcass, which she did not. (She was at least 50' away). But hey. It's just another shark movie.

Green Lantern or Deadpool could have just come and save her ...right?

Anyone with any amount of experience with the ocean at all would know you would have to be out of your mind to be in the water near a whale carcass. Feeding paradise for sharks, and when the small ones disappear it means a big one, or several, has moved in to stake a claim.

This looks like one of the most poorly made films ever. From scene to scene she was in the middle of a vast ocean, she was close to the shore, she comes upon a whale that should have been viewable in every scene given how close it was to her and then on to sudden random surf waves that literally appeared from nowhere, worst continuity I've every watched.

i remember watching this movie and i was soooo hoping she was going to get killed by the shark and not escape, because she didn't deserve to. but she got away......☹

The cute Dolphins early on give her reassurance before things go pear shaped rapidly.But the waters are calm so why go surfing and then only one wave appears before alls dead calm again.?.Great phorography though.

I very much doubt a shark would be interested in her when it has a whole massive whale to devour.

so basically, she did everything possible to put herself in harms way. That's not heroic, or dramatic, it's just foolish. Just like running for her life afterwards is not brave, it's just instinctual.

uhmmm... the girl obviously over the Top, but the movie...... she gets attacked by teh shark, she bleeds and screams for ten full seconds at least, you expect she swims away with a leg off.. about to loose consciousness, she gets a micro wound as she was bitten by Teletubby...............oh c'monnnnnnnnnnn

I know sharks are important but I hate the fact they hunt on people. Surfers did nothing to them and are not to blame to be in the wrong place for the shark. I don’t accept it. Period.
