I've read your blog post and I see you, I feel you. But we are human being, our life is an everchanging experiment. Don't look at your old unfinished notebooks as mistakes, they served you in a certain period of time then they didn't serve you anymore. Put a label on them with the period of time they keep a memory of and everything will look more cohesive and put together, even yourself maybe. A little tip if I may: I recently found my planner/journal peace when I gave up to ALL the hypes. I have just switched to a plain notebook to journal and a plain booklet for planning. I draw my own layouts and let things go and change at my own pace. I am tired of desiring what they want me to desire. Sometimes I miss the structure a printed notebook gives, but hey, that's the price of freedom :) Anyways planner peace, and peace in general comes and goes for everyone. We are here with you in the turmoil :)
Love all the notebook updates- whether you’re planner hopping, happy in a system, or sharing new accessories or projects. Never tired of seeing what you’re up to 🖤
the amount of autistic joy in that ghost shrine made me so happy 👻 thank you for sharing 🧡 i hope spooky life helps you feel more like yourself again soon 🖤
B6 teaaaaam, I was an a6 person, then switched to a5 (all from hobonichi) now I can only use sterling ink's b6 planner. To me it brings autistc joy because I can know what day it is while having space to jot down stuff to remember later or explore projects or journal normally.
when you showed that vampire plushie on the shelf i was like that would be so cute to get.. and then i saw it in the haul and i was like we are just just alike so cute :(
Im sorry youre feeling so unsettled in your books! Id honestly love to hear more updates about your adventures in B6, I just enjoy that type of video a lot! Also I think Sterling ink themselves sell the B6 covers for their planners right? Anyways I wish you luck in this new size!
No need to feel bad about book-hopping. I ended up just using a plain notebook, and wrote as much and as little as i felt like. 1 day per page, while nice to look at later, does not work for me.
This was a nice surprise. I was thinking this morning, I wonder when we'll get another attic archive. I've been using an A6 Hobonichi Hon for journaling this year. I like it and I like having a hard cover but I too have found the size a little too small at times. I've been considering trying an A5 Hon for 2025 but I know I'll miss the compact size of the A6. I've also thought about the Midori Hibino. Its A6 with 2 pages per day. But I find their design kind of dull and uninspiring. B6 is one of my favorite notebook sizes but had never considered it for a planner. I'll definitely look int0 Sterling Ink. I'll also need to see if there are any other daily B6 planners out there.
I read your blog post and I was hoping someone would tell you B6 may be the in-between size you need. It's my jam for work, since it's enough size for to dos, but isn't overwhelming. For clear covers, Nolty and Kokoyu sell B6 clear covers, which you may be able to find on Amazon UK or Amazon JP (if you end up using them for your Hobonichi purchases).
I'm sad that they cut the half year options so much. I'm not sure people understand how much of an accessibility accommodation the half year is for people like us. Half year is lighter to carry when you have arthritis. It's less overwhelming when you have neurological issues. I also just want black, but I will be getting the forest green and possibly trying to customize it to black.
yes, absolutely agree! i really dont understand how people are lugging around the 500+ page full years, especially with bulk. the weight must be immense. a half year is such an underrated (and accessible) option for so many of us, i think, and it really is a shame 🥲 thankfully the forrest green leans very dark, so it's not (quite) the end of the world
It always cracks me up people are like, “I wish they offered in lilac or sky blue, or when are you going to do this one in pink?” And I am like, “Why is this not available in black, the darkest navy blue, or darkest forest green imaginable (when you can only tell its green or blue when the light hits just right)…😂
I hate the weight of the yearly, but I have to carry the year all at once. Due to my work, I cannot only have half the year with me - it is the biggest problem I have. I love the that the TRP fits into and makes it smaller even in the biggest size.
@@ostensibly531 Do you mean the N1 size (which is like standard size Traveler's Company)? This one does have the width like B6 slim and the length of A5. Could not find an A5 slim in their announcing videos... A5 slim would be a great size though, so if you could tell where you found it would be nice! 😊
B6 half year is my planner. I found it last year, faught it this year and went back to it this year.😅 I cut down my A5 pencil boards and they’re perfect. You’re amazing. Your openness and videos are inspiring. Best of luck on your journey.
B6 is also my preferred size! Muji has a very cute minimalist one with a clear cover. Nice months weeks and daily formats included. Currently sold out but can be found on eBay. Take good care of yourself and happy cozy season 🤍🎃
To be honest I like the Forest Green but i actually was shocked that they don't have it in Black, like I get people like brownish things which is the caramel but if they are offering it in Forest Green, i don't get why wouldn't they do it in Black. Black is essentually the most safe option tbh. I'm settling on my A5 Hobonichi plain notebook for my personal journaling and have been liking how thinner it is. I am not a fan of thicker notebooks too, my lefty self wouldn't just survive it ❤
im trying out the papertess b6 for next year. has an interesting setup with weeks and months being chronological with daily pages instead of in sections
I was also disappointed by the color offerings for Sterling Ink next year. I was really enjoying my N1 vertical weekly but it’s only coming in colors I’m not a fan of next year and it chased me back into the arms of my Hon. I do think though that the most important thing when it comes to notebooks is that they’re supposed to be tools in a cupboard to help us cope rather than silver bullets or miraculously solve all of our problems.
Seeing you book hop is tiring in the sense that we can see you're not satisfied with your system and it makes you struggle on the daily (we're not psychopathic enough not to care i think lol) I'd love to see how your notebook experiments go! We all need something different at different parts of our life (though my autistic brain really wish we didn't) and your input on what worked and what didn't, why etc... is always super duper valuable! I hope you're having as good of a day as you can, Megan
I recently binged all of Megan's videos over the course of a week or two whilst finishing my PhD thesis... now I'm up to date and my PhD is over and I feel so lost...
heyyy, long time, no pylons! thanks for sharing the clips from the national portrait gallery, i miss london, so i love living vicariously through other people lol. also for what it's worth, as a viewer, i love all your journal content, i'm always curious to see how books are set up 💖
Take care, Megan! You setting up the ghost shrine at high speed was so funny to look at - and the shrine looks great! Is that Anne Boleijn in the postcards? A very compelling picture.
I personally love B6 for common placing. It fits in all my bags, even my small cross shoulder bag. I also have the Hobonichi A5 cousin that I keep at home and Hobonochi A6 Techo planner that I bring everywhere, along with a B6. Admittedly I'm not using the A5 Hobonichi as much as I would have liked. The only problem I've personally been having with B6 is that they are quite scarce and finding one that is fountain pen friendly has been a nightmare, ad to the fact that I generally prefer whiter paper. From time to time I also have trouble deciding between soft and hard cover. Decisions, decisions. For the whiter papers; I've tried the Muji B6 which is quite nice, though the very pronounced vertical lines sometimes annoys me, it does have lighter horizontal lines that are very light. I've also been trying the Stalogy 365 days which sometimes works with fountain pens. I've also enjoyed the Hahnemuhle Diary Flex which is a tiny bit creamier; the real creamier ones are Life Noble Note Section which does work well with fountain pens and will soon give the Midori a go as well.
So happy to know that I'm not the only person who book hops. It's just that sometimes one layout works for me and what I'm doing and sometimes I need something else completely. p.s. Love the ghost mummy. 👻💀🎃
also bummed about the lack of the a6 half year option (i've been turning my book to write so that the weeks are horizontal) but i am excited for an actual horizontal weekly format for next year
I feel you on the A6 size-for me, I'm using the Hobonichi Avec July-December, and to me it's kinda too small for me. I know next year I'm gonna get an A5 because I'm more comfortable in that one, but for now, I'm kinda hopping between three books in order for me to have something and document my life and try to find space for everything I'm writing/keeping
nicole josephine currently has b6 size clear covers in her shop altho i cant guarantee they will be in stock for the entirety of next year as she isnt remaking the forest planner for 2025 :( shipping is a tad expensive as theyre coming from canada but nowhere near as bad as £20!!
I was struggling with the same thing with sizes of books, I found a5 was too overwhelming on my bad days, and a6 I could always manage, but sometimes I needed more space. So next year I’ve decided to go with an avec, with a blank notebook for overflow. I like the idea cause you can fit both in one cover, so it’s like one book, but because the blank notebook is overflow, there’s no pressure to fill it, and I’ll always have more space than the one a6 page if I need it. I’m also not a fan of the colours of the avec, but I’m willing to sacrifice that for what I feel like will be my perfect system. Maybe I’ll cover them in tape or something, idk but at least half will be hidden by the cover 😂
18:51 yeah similar thoughts about colors :(( I was planning on getting a N1 horizontal (compact) layout but since it only comes in tweed or mist…. I think I’m just going to jump to vertical and deal with forest green as well djjdjfkfkf
Wonderland222 also makes clear covers in B6. In the UK, Misopaper sells their products, for example. However, I don’t know if they fit the Sterling Ink Common Planner.
0:00 outing, shopping, and unboxing music only then no music ; 8:13 talking portion ; 24:28 outing with museum and shopping music only ; 27:19 unboxing no music
Do you do any digital planning in addition to physical planning/memory keeping? I know you've done videos in the past on it but would love to know if any of those methods have changed or anything. I'm in a weird place in planning and memory keeping where I almost wonder if digital is what I should try next (or as a supplemental to my physical books)
I understand about book hopping - just talked myself into staying in my current book because I REALLY like it even though mini composition notebooks are less expensive (I did 6 system hops during One Book July...or was it 7?)🤦 What pen is that who makes an appearance at 27:22 on the left side of your notebook? looks very comfortable to hold!
No matter how i try, my handwriting just does not look as neat as yours on graph paper. I may have to give up on graph paper. But AHHH the sound of flipping through tomoe river paper!!
Hey Megan I love your videos so much they're so relaxing! I wanted to ask, I don't live in the UK so I can't order anything from your website sadly. If I subscribe to your patreon, do I get access to printable templates and illustrations?
Hello, I'm a Japanese who likes your videos. I also like Halloween and ghosts, so it's very soothing to have it displayed in your room or on your desktop🖤 I'm not good at English, so I'd appreciate it if you could consider Japanese sub as well🙏 I'm looking forward to it!
This might be a question thats too personal but, do you happen to ever struggling with hygiene (in a neurodivergent way)? Specifically for me it’s shaving my legs, it has always been an issue, due to a mix of it being a sensory thing and also intrusive thoughts… Anyways, always love your videos! I wanna see how your crocs turned out!
I am finally trying B6 for the second half of this year, I have similar issues with A5 and A6. So far it’s perfect, I can fit photos in without the page being overwhelmed and it’s a similar size as my Filofax to carry around (once it’s in a cover). I’m even contemplating attacking one of my Filofax covers and deringing it to get the cover I want *glares at poor Norfolk*
yes, b6's similarity to personal size filofax is something i forgot to mention! it's strangely soothing. good to hear it's working for you too! (thoughts and prayers to your norfolk)
Hey Megan , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail and also help you with the overall youtube strategy and growth ! Pls let me know what do you think ?
