@@manipurgaming803 no my dear , Mr. Winton was the blessed one . My grandfather grew up to be a scientist and physician . He work for the Institute Pasteur in France , developing many different vaccines . My grandfather saved many lives as a doctor as well , and he did it for free in South America . He lived to help others . I was a child but I remember though he always had a very sad facial expression . He saw his family being killed . Nothing could clean that from his mind . But now he’s with all of them in Heaven.
Are ya all out of your mind? The Holocaust didn’t happen . It’s their weapon agains any other kind. Joseph Stalin give them a huge piece of land in the far South- East corner of the Soviet Union which is still carrying the name of “ Jewish federation “. The so called “ Holocaust “ was in deed a pleasurable travel in first class trains with sleeping cart on the Trans Siberian train, filled with treasures arts and other valuables. If I’m gonna reach that age as that worm did, I could tell stories about what a big heroes my folks were. Careful scientists proved that Anna Frank Diary was in deed a hook, but can not put it in the news because that is in their hands to. One honest Jewish old man said it to me when I was a child, “ Boy,remember what I’m telling you, with a pen you can hit anything or anybody harder than with a gun!”
I can’t imagine sitting there, then realizing he’s surrounded by lives he saved. Couldn’t help but to tear up. I saved one life and it made me happy. This man saved hundreds. Man’s a true hero.
He spent his time, money, and even put his life on the line to save as many people he could and he did this without a shred of recognition. That, my friends, is the truest form of a hero.
I am sure that man knew who and what Jesus Christ is [God in the flesh & the only Savior ] and is probably being properly honored by God for eternity for his earthly, very precious sacrifice ! What amazing blessings he provided for those children, and some of the parents. Thank you for providing the information !
Rick Jensen:I noticed yr comment and u put it up 1day ago....u already hav 44 In agreement with u....nice 2c there r genuine loving people in this world and tht hav been in this world ....money cant buy love and this man has proved money dont mean squat against the care and protection of innocent children.
All these years, a cigar smoking drunkard was sitting on WW2 heroes pedestal in the UK. Is it time to kick such devils out of the history books? The bastard stole foodgrains from Bengal India, causing over a million deaths in Bengal & still..?? Why?
That he chose to remain anonymous for his heroic acts is the greatest testimony of his character. Words alone cannot give him enough credits for what he had done.
It is not widely known that the parents of former prime minister of England, Margaret Thatcher hosted Edith Mühlbauer, a Jewish refugee from Austria, thus saving her life. The entire family of Ms. Mühlbauer perished.
I’m a father of three who lives in this somewhat peaceful time. If I were in their situation, I’m not sure I’d be able to let my children go. It hurts so much just thinking about it.
I gave my 3 day old baby up for adoption when I was 17. It was gutting, and it wasn't on the threshhold of war like the parents of these children were facing. Bless their selfless sacrifices.
The fact he didn't even tell his family let's me know he was very conscious of the danger of what he was doing. The less people who knew the better. Yet to keep such worry under wraps... such a brave and noble man.
Sir Nicholas Winton was a great example of a person who stood up to evil and decided to do something about it. A truly remarkable man. He died aged 106 and is honoured with a statue in his memory. Rightly so. Sometimes the good guys do win.
Now let me show you what real EVIL is, In TENN the head woman of the TENN dept of welfare with police was taking children from poor families, and selling them to the highest bidder with hundreds of poor kids being sold like cattle, One mother had all four of her kids taken away and for years she would go down to the bus stop and wait for them to get off the bus, of course, they never did she died and the last words she spoke was, I AM GOING TO BE WITH MY KIDS, They said that actress MARY TYLER MOORE who starred in the movie broke down and cried when she had to say that lady last words, Poor families had no money to hire an out of state attorney and police were and still corrupt was no help, only an honest newspaper broke the story and the DEVILS WHORE as she was called went to jail for a short time, noTENN says now they take great care of all kids but TENN police stormed an elementary school were they cuffed and jailed ten six year old first- graders some who had to be awaken from their daily naps no cops were fired as like always the cops are protected,Mental health professional said some of those kids could have mental problems as time goes by. Actress MARY TYLER MOORE starred in a movie based on true facts from this, I think the name of the movie is STOLEN MEMORIES OR STOLEN INNOCENCE Today TENN CHILDRENS SERVICES SAYS THEY HAVE A VERY GOOD PROGRAM WHEN IT COMES TO CHILDREN BUT WHEN ASKED WHY 45 KIDS DIED IN TENN FOSTER HOMES, THEY SAID THEY WILL GET BACK ON THAT BENN OVER TEN YEARS AND THE PEOPLE ARE STILL WAITING, HOW MANY MORE HAVE DIED? THEY WILL GET BACK ON THAT, WE HEARD THAT BEFORE
@@whiskeyrun4996 What's TENN? Is that Tennessee? But I do think an orphanage having some dealings with rich sicko that have "certain preferences", for some wealth, is not so far fetched of an act, considering what you would had to do to get into Hollywood or to be famous and stuff. I'm don't really know the details, but I do know some dark and fishy stuffs occurred, I mean you don't really need to be a helpless orphans to be offered to the rich....
What a genuine human being, not a word to anybody unlike a lot of people who give to charity and make sure that everyone knows it, a man that truly deserves to be knighted, i had tears in my eyes while watching this video, best wishes from george
Mother of my teacher was one of Winton's children. She told us her story once. Amazing man who saved many. The teacher I had was one of the most well composed people I ever met, teaching us a lot about life and how to live it to the fullest. Wouldn't have this teacher without Winton.
@@donnamcneilly1240 Not my mother, my elementary school teacher's mother. She told us around 15 years ago, so I don't remember much. I remember that after she got off the train, the family took her in and she lived in a house in rular england, but that's about it. Think one family member, an aunt or uncle survived, but the parents died in a concentration camp. When she got older, she returned to Czech republic and started a family here. Since she got good at english, she taught her daughter and that daughter then passed that onto us.
This man represents why they are referred to as the greatest generation. He stood and did what was right ignoring the consequences there far too few of these people left
An Angel in disguise, sent to be the. Guardian of all those young souls. Well done. You did a great job completing your mission in silence and humility .
I’m disgusted that the world does not know about this man. So proud our Queen knighted this man for his unselfish accomplishments in life. I’m glad in England that we have a statue to honour his heroics acts. This is what you call a real hero, and a true humanitarian.
Whenever I go to DC for DAR conference, I make a point of visiting the Holocaust Museum. The next time I go, I’ll be looking for Nicholas Winston’s name on the Wall of those recognized for their efforts to save Jews.
@VivienneHodson. ENOUGH WITH ENGLAND. For goodness sake we are the United Kingdom, and for your information, MANY of those refugees went to boarding schools in Wales. Also, Anthony Hopkins has just completed a film about Nicholas Winton.
I am a physician and have a patient who is of German descent and was 12 years old during beginning of WWII. She tells a story of how her father was re-enlisted as an officer (in 1938) into the SS and he knew exactly what they were doing. He played along with them so he could try to help. He would memorize names at work of those Jews who were to be taken from their homes in the upcoming week or weeks. He would contact them and tell them they needed to leave immediately and only take 2 layers of clothing and what they could carry in 1 hand. She mentioned a few other officers were caught writing down names and were shot on site so he never wrote down anything. He organized with friends an underground network of businesses that would smuggle Jewish families out of Germany and did this throughout the war. One person who helped him was a friend who had a tobacco shop next door and a secret small room the men used to play poker in and smoke cigars. The room was behind the fireplace. He made it look more discreet and would put the families in hiding until the next underground station was ready. She states that he explicitly told them not to try to thank him or call or write to him as these would all be traced back and he would be killed and wouldn't be able to help anyone else. Her mother helped as she could by baking food for the Jews and others escaping. Her mother and father at the end of the war estimated he had saved over 500 families. He never told anyone and nobody ever wrote it down until I am doing it now. She said her father never wanted credit and he was doing 'God's work' in an 'Evil Time and Place'. She is still alive but slowing down a bit and the sweetest woman you can imagine. God Bless her and her father and all those who endured and were able to either help or were helped.
It's sad to know that manic men can orchestrate the death of innocents even by the hand of the unwilling few.... But the silver lining is that good and smart people can always find a way to help.... You must be so very proud of your family. Cheers.
Good people crop up in very unexpected places indeed! God Bless the souls of those brave men and their families who helped hold back the tide of the darkest evil, including of course the man who saved so many families as related. And God Bless those of these brave men who are still with us, and their families. I admire them for saving lives at the risk of their own.
What an amazing story thank you for sharing if you could mention the ladies name that would be great. Thank you again I hope his story doesn't get lost to time.
A very over used word is "hero" but this is a real one, his bravery and humility are unbelievable, this story should be taught all over the world in schools and a statue of him in every major city! Rest in Peace Sir!
I couldn't agree more. "Hero" is losing it's effect due to over use. However in this case I couldn't imagine someone else I would consider a true hero. I am humbled.
Sir Nicholas Winton lived in my birth town of Maidenhead for many years after this event. As a taxi driver, I would drive him occasionally and never connected him with these heroics. As well as a sculpture of him at Maidenhead railway station, there is now a memorial garden in a local park where one can read and learn of his exploits. Happily, his story will live on and inspire.
Mike, it is not widely known that the parents of former prime minister of England, Margaret Thatcher hosted Edith Mühlbauer, a Jewish refugee from Austria, thus saving her life. The entire family of Ms. Mühlbauer perished.
I'm from Maidenhead too, some of my family had the pleasure of meeting Sir Nicholas (alas I never did). A truly gentle, humble man, I'm glad the town is honouring him.
What a wonderful man! Not only did he save 669 children but also 669 future generations. I believe he received a hero's welcome home when he arrived in heaven as well as a standing ovation from each of these children's deceased parents.
This is what you call a righteous and humble man!!! My deepest respect and gratitude to this man for saving so many!!! My deepest respect to his lovely wife!!! This lady has shown the whole world how we should all behave!!!
I must sadly admit that this is the first time that I have ever heard of this gentleman. It is one of the most truly compassionate and humanitarian story`s that I have ever heard and the fact that he never mentioned any of it to even his family, is a true testament to what a truly humble man he was, doing what he saw as only right and proper. The World needs more people like this Gentleman. RIP Sir.
I don't think it was humility that stopped him speaking about it. Ironically, I think it was shame. To us, he's an incredible hero, but a person in that situation rarely thinks of themselves that way. A similar sentiment was expressed in Schindler's List. Sure, he took advantage of his unique position and saved 669 children, but perhaps if he'd tried a little harder, maybe he could have saved more. The unique privilege of being able to save lives is cursed by the weight of the lives you didn't. I hope the experience in this video made him feel better.
@@mikicoal This is terrible to say "perhaps if he'd tried a little harder, maybe he could have saved more." His OWN LIFE was in danger -- it is amazing that he did what he did! He had that eight train ready to go when Hitler attacked. What did YOU do to save children, anywhere, in your town or over in Ukraine or anywhere else. How DARE you criticize this man for not saving more! Go outside and play in traffic.
@@cathynewyork7918 I don't think that is what they are saying, it reads more like they are trying to write out possible doubts he had of himself more then doubts they have towards him.
@@cathynewyork7918 Please re-read my comment. I'M not saying he could have done more, I'm saying that in his own head, HE was saying that TO HIMSELF. It's human nature.
I am in tears. What a wonderful story. And his reason for saving the children, "because it was the right thing to do.". Many blessings to this incredible man, his family and to the children he saved and those he couldn't save.
Even as I weep for the hundred thousands other little ones who never made it out alive, I rejoice for those who did, thanks to such selfless men and women.
I am nearly 58 now and never heard this story. It angers me that I had never heard of it. This should be mandatory learning in school. This man is THE EXAMPLE of the RAREST BREED of people to have existed in life. One who puts everything and everyone else ahead of themself NO MATTER WHAT THE COST IS. This man should be celebrated for his sacrifice, even a day on year named after him. He is the example we should all strive to be.
I watched the original programme when he was outed for his work. I cry every time I watch it. Trouble is people haven't learnt anything from what he did. Certain people who were persecuted are now persecuting others because they are different
Wikipedia shows that, in 1940, Mr. Winton joined the RAF as an enlisted ‘Aircraftman’ which is the lowest possible rank. He served the entire war. A most humble gentleman.
When his wife found the album , she probably whispered: 'Figures.' I suspect he was an excellent husband and father too. The appetites of a madman blunted by a humble man. Hats off Mr. Winton.
@@Gambit771 In the 1960s my all white high school integrated. One girl. Standing at the entrance looking overwhelmedf. I walked over and said "Hi" and asked if she'd been shown her way around. No. So I tried to keep catching her between our different class schedules and help her find her way. Ate lunch with for awhile. But I mostly spent lunch studying and she was very social and soon made other friends. That's one. Not much. But it was something. My parents were very happy.
One of my sisters and I spent two weeks on vacation at his house in Maidenhead, England when we were young (I think I was 14, she was 12). He was a friend of my parents, who only learned very late that he was a hero. He had never talked about what he had done. He and his Danish wife were so nice (she cooked like a chef!) I'm proud to have known him personally.
Wow what an honour to have met him ,I remember watching that’s life and his episode is one of the ones that stick in my mind so clearly. His family must be so proud.
Yes, I watched the show too, “That’s Life” was very popular. When everyone but Sir Winston and his wife stood up, the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end.
@Christopher Delagarza thank you brother for the emotional support . I cry when I need . It’s my body . Lol . And I don’t care what others think about me . Thank you for your kind words .
I cannot add any more words to what has been said already. A man stands up and does what must be done to protect others. No matter the personal cost. This gentleman was truly a MAN.
No, he never saved 669 children, he saved hundreds of millions. He rescued 669 children but they went onto be parents, grand parents and greet grandchildren and in a millennia there will be children alive because of him.
Jesus said, "Let not your left hand know what your right hand is doing." In other words, do not trumpet your good deeds. Keep them private from the world. God knows what you have done. Listening to this man's story, he obviously took those words to heart, just as he did other words of Jesus: "Inasmuch as you have done this unto the least of these my brothers, you have done it unto Me."
I believe GOD allowed this man to live to 106 yrs because of his unwavering dedication to help children to flee to freedom! He was such a brave hero! 🥰👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏼🙏🏼
This video related to me on many levels, as I also was separated from my biological parents for many years, living in a children's orphanage. Am suffering from a really terrible cold, and cried my heart out while watching this video. Astonishingly, my runny nose cleared! What a relief!

@@tomabbott4980 I certainly do too. I ran across this on you tube, otherwise would never had heard of him. May he Rest In Peace in heaven, for that is where he surely is. What a brave and giving soul.
It is easy to lose faith in humankind until a man like this comes along. He exemplifies everything good that stands as a beacon for us lesser souls to follow. His story is inspirational and should be made into a movie! Rest in peace, Sir, or should I say, rest in heaven because if anyone deserves a place there, it is surely you!
It is a shame people like you exist who lack the strength to be the hope you seemingly can't see in others whom you expect to make the world better instead of doing it yourself.
I am sure that when the 106 year old man passed away, a door opened in Heaven where he was received by choirs of Angels and where he met all those he had saved who passed before him. A great man, a man who believed in humanity. God rest his Soul.

Words cannot explain what a wonderful HERO this man is. He and others like Oskar Schindler saved countless numbers of people destined to die for no other reason than of their religion.
Sadly, ,part of the victory of the Socialists is that they've convinced many they're colorblind, like us. Can you say "Jim Crow Laws"? Can you say (Lebensunwertes Leben) the NaZi abortion slogan? Murder slogan? War Crimes slogan? "Just following orders.
Nicholas Winton wanted his role to be anonymous. I expect he felt great sadness that he could not save all the children. I wonder how he felt when his wife shared the story of his heroism. The foster families also deserve recognition. It was no small gesture to accept responsibility for a child, when resources were so limited. Goodness needs to be celebrated.
I like that you have a wonderful sense of understanding life more deeply than it should be, would you like to chat, looking forward to sharing my history of saving a life with you.
Janett thank you for expressing my feelings exactly! Having such real empathy and strength to work, almost single handedly to save these helpless children grants you the closeness to god that very few are able. I feel his sadness for not being able to save all the children was stronger to him than the satisfaction of saving so many.
