Just go for it! Austria is a very well organized and safe country. Dont know where you are from but the only challange is probably to find an affordable intercontinental flight. My philosophy is: When you want something, just go for it. Life is too short and opportunities too rare.

Just a tipp, if you wanna go around Austria by train and public transport then there is the possibility to buy a "Vorteilscard". It's one time 66 Euro and every ticket price is half. It's worth it pretty fast. It's cheaper for families, children or older people. I think it's also for most inner city public traffic and also has advantages when you plan to go to other European countries.

In the buildings below the castle on the river side there is a pedestrian street where there is a cannon ball stuck in the wall that’s been there since the 1500’s I think it is. Also, you’re not far from Schloss Itter which was one of the last battles of WWII and only one of two occasions where Germans and Americans helped each other.

Hi Gabriel, the castle looks like something from Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. I could see the townspeople chasing the monster across the bridge with pitchforks. It's surprising not a tourist attraction to this cave's remarkable area nicely tucked away. Gabriel, I don't you're making a stop there, but Vienna is the City of Dreams or the City of Music, the home of Mozart and Beethoven and the world's first psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.
@Ojstra
@Ojstra Год назад
He has already been to Vienna some years earlier. In Austria, there are many bigger and more attractive (mainly high mountain caves) as karst with all its phenomena is widely presented in the Northern Limestone Alps, although these caves are not that spectacular as some caves in Dinaric Alps, such as Postojna Cave in Slovenia. However, near Werfen (40 km south of Salzburg), there is the amazing ice cave system named Eisriesenwelt where ice is all year long on the elevation of 1,656 m. In Werfen is also the amazing fortress that is similarly attractive as that in Kufstein, with addition of some bird-of-prey shows up there.

Being from Sweden, typically seen as an expensive country, I am totally flabbergasted by the prices for train rides in other western European countries. A 90 minutes train ride between my town and the city of Malmö goes for about €11 fixed price for a ticket bought on the day of travel, that's how it should be. And it's not like we have lower incomes and living standards than the rest of Europe or anything like that. In other high income countries in Europe I traveled in I found only Belgium and Ireland to have reasonable train fares.
@VKS4life
@VKS4life Год назад
I may be way off here but I think the astronomical prices are by design to attract the ‘right type’ of tourist and resident. These prices work to restrict access. While I can technically afford these prices, I am completely turned off my the audacity of charging these exorbitant prices for food and transportation.
@vaultkeeper2
@vaultkeeper2 Год назад
@@VKS4life I really do not get the dislike some countries have for budget travelers and why they want to avoid them. I am a backpacker and budget traveler and never harmed or offended anyone on my travels and as far as I know this is not a behavior typical for backpackers and budget travelers, the really annoying tourists like stag parties usually stay in fancy hotels and have quite a big budget. Trains are a very much vital means of commuting for both leisure and work and should therefore have prices that more or less everyone can pay easily without breaking the bank, in my opinion that is, and it's good for the environment too and vastly reduces pollution by cars the cheaper the train fares are. Belgium is an extremely good model with train fares fixed to all destinations and all trains (except international trains) and doesn't change by popularity or the closer it gets to the day of travel, and the prices are considerably lower than in for example France and Austria no matter which way you put it, this despite that they have roughly the same living standards and incomes. In Sweden also we have humane train fares and I rarely ever see our trains get annoyingly overcrowded by budget travelers exploiting cheap train fares. High speed trains has prices that change by popularity yes, but not with astronomical prices. Local trains and slow trains have fixed prices that are very much affordable. These ripoffs on food and train fares is the main reason why I prefer traveling in Southern Europe and the countries that are in the former Eastern Bloc and former Yugoslavia, so if these other countries hates people like me and doesn't want us to go there I guess they are successful!
@VKS4life
@VKS4life Год назад
@@vaultkeeper2 well, I think you’re right. Except for Zermatt, which I would willingly pay a premium to visit because of the majestic Matterhorn, I will stay clear of the rest of Switzerland and Austria, on principle. Rather spend a fortune elsewhere.
@vaultkeeper2
@vaultkeeper2 Год назад
@@VKS4life Yes, there are medieval towns and cities just as amazing in the Czech Republic and Poland as there are in Austria and Switzerland, but for only a fraction of the price. I agree, if going there it has to be for something very special like the mountains that can't be found elsewhere. Earlier this month, I visited the 2 towns Kutna Hora and Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic (or Czechia as some prefer to call it), they were amazing and unlike these towns in the videos from Switzerland and Austria where there doesn't appear to be a single soul outside, these towns were full with visitors from all over the world enjoying the places and marvelling at the architecture and there was live music, one can really wonder why this difference, yeah! And as seen in Sweden and Belgium, just because your country's rich it doesn't mean you have to rip people off.

HI, Gabriel! I think, you should travel to Hungary, Slovakia and Poland after your Austrian journey. Although, We are in the high season, you Will find much reasonable prices than in Austria. As a Hungarian I would suggest you coming to the Balaton lake. The summer temperature is much moderate here and the lake is warmer than anywhere in Greece, not talking about Croatia...
@Ojstra
@Ojstra Год назад
Lake Balaton is surely one of the warmest water lakes in Europe in Summer because the average depth of the lake is only 3 meters, with only one river tributary of river Zala. However, Lake Neusiedl on the Austrian-Hungarian border, known as the "Viennese Sea" is in average only 1 meter deep with no tributaries (therefore the only source of water are precipitations and the lake is endorheic), so maybe it can warm up even more. On the shores of Lake Balaton, Tihany and Balatonfüred are really nice towns in my opinion, especially Tihany. I also had a nice experience in Tapolca with underground lake boat ride, Tapolcai tavasbarlang. However, I don't see other Hungarian cities and towns (except for Budapest, where Gabriel has already been) anything special for a worldwide tourist as there are many similar towns in all the area of former Austro-Hungarian Empire. In Czechia, Poland and Romania are more special towns in my opinion and Slovakia has amazing High Tatra mountains with some interesting mountainous architecture. Nevertheless, as a Slovenian, a neighbour, I love your country Hungary, too.
@andraskleistenes8586
@andraskleistenes8586 Год назад
@@Ojstra There are very interesting towns in Hungary even for a World traveller. I recommand to visit Veszprém, very near to the Balaton lake, Sopron near to the Austrian border, and Eger at the Mátra mountain. Obviousely, Czechnia and Slovenia sufferd less from wars than Hungary, (we lost almost 2/3 of our territory) and there are much stronger Habsburg influence than in Hungary. Visiting those countries You might think, you are in Austria. Hungary is more different, an authentic experience in Central Europe. ( If you know where to go...) If someone want to see old german/Habsburg Europe, I recommand going to Austria , Czechia or Slovenia. If you want to see somewhat different, than go to Hungary. Not talking about the traveling cost: Hungary is the cheapest
