Thank you for your service. Here I was about to order a leatherman from REI. I'm glad I watched your video. Also you posted this video on my birthday. This was a sign if you ask me.
I’m a veteran as well. Thanks for your service. Disagree with you on the NFL thing, probably because my patriotism is more about values than symbols. Next time, maybe call your video “The Skeletool is fine, but I’m unhappy with REI”. That way your fellow veteran doesn’t waste 4 minutes figuring out that you don’t like REI and love the NRA.
Everyman Gear It does bro. I m all about the 2nd Amendment, a member of the NRA, and have about 4 safes full of goodies. Appreciate your vids my man. Salute!
Im so happy you did this. Im sitting on $46 in REI membership money that Im reluctant to cash in due to this exact issue. Im done with REI. I think I may only be hurting myself with the rewards as its my money, but I cant bring myself to go back through their doors. Good for you on making this.
I didn’t know this either. Letherman has that same tool on their website. I won’t shop at Dick’s and I won’t shop at REI now either! I agree 100% with you and thank you for your service.
If I remember right the reason the football player started kneeling was on the recommendation of a veteran. Something about how it was something soldiers did for their fallen brothers. A gesture that was more respectful than sitting out. Even if it wasn’t that way, why does that seem to trigger so many people? For every person who gets so offended there are many more (often veterans included as well) who either don’t care or support the gesture. Also your stance seems to be that companies should stay out of politics, unless they are in line with yours? But as you said. Vote with your wallet. Take a step back and think about why this bothers you so much. Also reevaluate your comment on the cars. Cars are regulated. You register and are required to be insured. And the primary purpose of the car isn’t to shoot a projectile that causes damage. Makes sense that there should be more regulation on weapons. I don’t know just common sense to me. My 2 cents.
Anytime corporate PR "damage control" jumps onto a trending fear, it makes for lousy optics. It shows a panic, not a sensible virtue. Loyal customers are quickly cast aside.
While I completely disagree with your logic, especially re how a store in a free capitalist society choosing to not sell a product equals political interference, I greatly appreciate that you made this video rant without any ad hominem attacks or insulting those who disagree with you. I wish everyone on your side of this debate were as cool-headed as you! You'd be a fun guy to have a beer with and argue about politics with lol. (For the record, I am a Canadian with American family/roots, so I don't really have any skin in this game, but I love giving credit where credit is due.)
Jovonn Trujillo Wow...I wish!! It does kind of look like Damascus but what it is (and the reason it’s an REI special edition) are those “map lines” that simulate a topography map.
I've done the same thing for the same reasons. Did an online chat with REI. Told them I would ne longer but from them until Vista could could sell with them. Haven't been back since. Also won't shop at Dicks. So now Vista is having to seperate or sell off thier gun accessory business. Makes me sick. They are boycotting the 2nd ammendment.
Roger Nuffer I didn't know that it had gone so far as to having to separate the gun accessories… That's sucks!! I guess all we can do is vote with our dollars… Thank you Patriot!!
2:52 = 100% - I'm a big heavy metal fan and when some of my musician heroes turn out to be arrogant A-holes it really affects how much you support it. & company's who get bum-hurt over political views, it just grinds my gears.
I personally don't care about the politics of the owners of companies. If they have what I want at the price I want, I will buy it. I don't follow the rules anyway, as I still own and aquire firearms and living in in Asia I'm not allowed to anyway. I have a 25 year ban from owning firearms in Canada, and that didn't stop me from getting them.
Just went to REI website, on bottom of their home page you can leave a feedback. I told them how I feel about their anti-Second amendment stance. Would be nice if many more of us let them know how many customers they losing. will do same for Dicks and Yeti
I'm an AD officer serving overseas at the moment. I support your right to boycott REI, and I support REI's right to boycott the NRA and the like. I personally HATE the militarization of firearms in the US and would like to see reasonable limitations enacted - I lost my 14yo son a few years back and don't want to see anymore mass shootings aided by the desire of individual citizens and lobby groups like the NRA to keep reasonable firearm limits from taking hold. Believe me, I want people like you to have firearms, but we really need to do something about mentally damaged idiots from obtaining militarized killing machines. Keep your guns man, but be willing to support reasonable limits. Interested in your thoughts.
We need the National Rifle Association because they fight for our gun rights. Bless and thank you sir for serving our country. You are a hero. We all as Americans should support the N,R,A and the flag and God. With that said I say fuck companies like REI, and others like them that do shit like that. They should be ashamed of their damn selves. And damn the liberals. God bless you. Love your channel and keep up the good work.
If a gun store/sporting goods store doesnt support the NRA i dont support them, its ridiculous that a store that sells guns would take a liberals ideas into consideration
I do not think anyone is trying to take your gun away from you. Making good people helpless does not make bad people harmless. I believe they are just trying to better regulate how guns get into the wrong hands. You have to obtain a license to drive a vehicle legally. You have to obtain a prescription to get medications legally. Guns should fall into the same category . These are privileges that are earned, not given out freely. I think concerned people ( or businesses) are just trying to change SOMETHING in hopes that it leads to safer streets for everyone. You earn the privilege of gun ownership by passing safe gun handling courses, medical background checks, and a clean record or at least one that shows you are not a threat to the general public. Guns are great when they are in responsible hands. The NRA should help to encourage and promote safety and solutions or the wrath of the irrational fears will continue to haunt this organization. i think we can all agree that SOMETHING has to change. Let's work together to make changes that protect ourselves and our freedoms before the irrational politicizing legislates what we do not want and without our say. Working against each other divides and conquers. Working together keeps us free. A humble opinion for your consideration and rebuttal.
Kevola First of all I DO believe the NRA does exactly what you speak of. Second...criminals and those choosing to do harm simply DO NOT FOLLOW THE LAW OR EVEN CARE ABOUT RULES AND REGULATIONS!!! They never have and never will. There are PLENTY of "safeguards" already in place......and creating more will never do anything but hurt the LAW ABIDING CITIZEN!! Are you willing to give up your motor vehicle and ban every drug??? Because plenty more die from car accidents and drug related crimes/overdoses etc. I don't see "marches" to have those banned. The push on guns is a power play and complete bullshit. The liberal "anti gun" logic will NEVER make sense because it's based on nonsense. When someone brings to me a COMPLETELY different approach than attacking the 2nd amendment...I might listen. Honestly, most people just need to educate themselves extensively on WHO is truly behind gun control (worldwide).... and also learn from the people and countries who have already had them taken away. I can promise you, we should NOT want guns removed from Americans (or any population that values their freedom)!!
Everyman Gear I do believe in the 2nd amendment as a foundation to a free and stable society. I think we can agree on the fact that some people never will play by the rules which is what makes them criminals. I just feel that there have been many red flags raised which show that some of these school shooters should never have had access to weapons. Who better than the NRA can help identify these loopholes. Isn’t it better to lead the way to a solution rather than dig in your heels in opposition? I agree with your position. I’m just interested in solutions that protects the 2nd amendment rather than dismantles it. Let’s make the 2nd amendment the cornerstone we can all build on rather than the wall that divides us. Also, that Leatherman was a work of art!
