well the Portuguese community is mostly Azorean, sure its "Portuguese" but the majority are Azoreans, all portuguese, but diferent like it or not. 70 to 80% o the American Portuguese community are Azoreans, at this point Fall river is a small Azorean city that speaks english.
I think it is one of the most beautiful vídeo about São Miguel Island. The vídeo, the places and the words is amazing. Congratulations for this perfect vídeo.
Just came across this Video. Thank you ! I was born in Sao Miguel , raised in Canada . I always told my husband about this beautiful place , he finally decided to go and now he cannot stop talking to others about it , how beautiful it is. We have been all over the world including Hawaii, he still says Sao Miguel is one of the most beautiful places he has visited. So true that so many people have never heard of it . I’m often asked where I was born , when I say Sao Miguel Azores , they say that they have never heard of it . Again, thank you for this beautiful video!
I’ll be there in Sa Miguel in October - I cannot wait it will be sensational.. wow thank you for this footage, spectacular. I am riding around the island.. yay!
My beautiful late mother, Maria Antonieta Correia Farias Jordan was born in São Miguel in the village of Ajuda da Bretanha. Immigrated to the USA after falling in love by accident in 1964. She was 23 years old when she arrived on our shores, and became a true American, but raised us as both proud Americans, and to be proud of our Portuguese ancestry. Thank you mom!!! BTW, you’ve captured the beauty of this gorgeous island perfectly!!!
This is brilliant ! Being from Madeira, my first family holiday was going to the Azores and it was absolutely fantastic the best Cocido I ever had ! I can’t wait to go back !
I'm from Massachusetts and I have Portuguese heritage from Sao miguel. I have never been there but would love to go at least once in my life. I doubt I still have family there. You two are very lucky to have been to a beautiful place.
hey blue blood. is there much of industrial services near PD other than tourism and farming goods? Or is it not a good place to start a career in modernist professional services?
Thank you the way you described my island really it touched me.People like you are always welcomed.People that feels the calm and quiet of being so close to the pure nature!
You guys took us back ! it s now been a year we ve been there and sao miguel still makes our hearts warm when we think of it. your video is truly onr of the best we saw about this NeverLand island ;) thanks a lot
our islands are the most beautiful the most beautiful of the Azores the most beautiful are Madeira island of Sao Miguel and third island that many people from abroad go on vacation and loves the most beautiful landscapes
You have captured a small piece of the Magic of these islands, these people. Thank you for your story. We could show you a Christmas variation, a beach summer version, a culinary trip, a water fishing adventure. Of course having married an Azorean girl we have had family joys and immersion... thanks for sharing, keep traveling - Anyone reading this, the place is even more wonderful than this video!!!
Hello from Ireland. Lovely video and fab music. You've made me want to visit the Azores. At least you had the sense not to have the voices drowned out by the music which is just all too common. Tell us what all those pieces of music are! I certainly picked up an Irish one at 6:31 - "To see the sun go down on Galway Bay" - The one after it is fab.
Awesome. I’m booked to visit Sam Miguel in October. And Faial island. OMG going to be super amazing. I am horseback riding both islands. Thx for posting this great footage.
The Azores are the world's prime example of the beauty and wonder of nature. Sao Miguel is my birthplace. Spent my early childhood days there. It's images and sweet scents are forever engraved in my mind. T
Azores or as we call them "Açores" are our enchanted islands and you made a beautiful film promoting S. Miguel island. Now you need to know the other islands... They're all beautiful and one of the best kept secrets...
I was just in the Azores on Sao Miguel for 10 days in January/February. Such an amazing place. Definitely like nowhere I've ver seen before. Greeting from Texas
That hotel near Sete Cidades never was a popular place, David ;-) They built it exactly on a location prone to persistent fog, so it was a turkey right from the start. Lovely video though, enjoyed it
The hotel didn’t close because of climate conditions, it closed because of lack of tourists in the 90’s, but now with tourism blasting about 200% if anyone remembers to open it they would be rich af
Azores has know secrets is just a place that the people from there like to keep for themselves yes everyone is welcome if they find the islands yes people there is very warm and welcome everyone i grow up there and I'm telling you was the most beautiful place to grow up as a child with my we went swimming fishing play freddy with our our parents ever worried that something is going to happen to us was a safe place a happy place i never forgot how beautiful my country is now I have grandchildren and i want to take them there, thank you for this beautiful video
This footage is superb! Love yours storytelling skills and editing is on point! I am getting ready to go there and cant wait to explore the island. Thanx for making this video.
The island is cursed... Whit good food green landscapes clean clear ocean water and a mysterious environment full of folk lore. GJ on the video born and raised there brings back memories.
Absolutely stunning. I wonder seeing how the temperature is mild all year round (from what I've read) When is the best time to go? Wonderful video btw.
hi, I am from the green island, and I love your video. you should come here in the summer and then visit other island like flores. by the way I live in vila franca do campo and I want to thank you for your video. amazing job. :-)
This is really a very good video about the Azores. Thank you! :-) We went to São Miguel last summer and I must say it's really a very beautiful island.
I dont get what you are trying to say, but if you mean the Azores is the same as mainland Portugal or that are ruled by Portugal, is a yes and no answer. First the Azores, as Madeira, developed their own history and culture because isolation in the islands. They were always treated diferently, with colonial systems until very recently. Just a example they would send a captain that was usually a military man, that almost had all the power in the Azores. And very recently, they would send from mainland Portugal a governor, people that usually had no attachement to the Azores. That is why, today the Azores has its own AUTONOMOUS government, because it has diferent needs then mainland Portugal, and economical explotation and diferences of treatement made it happen. Its still part of the Portuguese republic, but in local terms, the Azores are the ones to rule, mainland Portugal usually just apply the taxes and budget and military. The Azores and Madeira even have a office in the EU, unlike any other region of mainland Portugal. So unlike mainland Portugal, the Azores has its goverment, flag etc, and Portugal only rules in some aspects of the Azores, they cant put their noises on some subjects. So by that, it makes the Azores itself diferent.
Se peças que no continente é tudo rosas estás muito enganado. Não tens orgulho em sêr Português? Já agora, qual a nacionalidade ou origens dos Açoreanos? Enfim...
Thanks for visiting my beautiful island and making a gorgeous video out of it. I see that i came to your video almost 3 years later and now the tourism here is completely different....with the introduction of the flight low cost companys there's tourists everywhere literally, 2 weeks ago i went to the same spot in the valley of 7 cidades and back then as you said you were the only ones there.... When i get there i saw around 70 people just in thar specific spot. Also at 7:49 that's not Ponta Delgada, that's Ribeira Grande City ehehe
Amazing video! I'm glad to see that you liked Azores since it's a Portuguese island. Keep doing that really good job and you're always welcome to Portugal! Cheers
Its called ILHEU de Vila Franca do Campo and its an Islet. The place you where on fogo lake was pretty high but the highest point is actually called Pico da Vara ( 1110 m ) and is further to the east. Sete Cidades Lake is actually ONE lake that has to sides and when the day is good enough one side turns blue and the other green. When you come here it is good that you have something in mind in terms of planning but like you where saying its a little hard to have every detail planned and it work out 100%.. Its 50/50. Overall great video, thank you for your kind words. And thanks for the visit. Cheers!
FYI Massachusetts has the largest azorean population outside of the islands. Fall river MA is called the tenth island as a joke. They even have Portuguese bank branches there and lots of local food. Check it out. Fun day trip. I've been there and the azores many many times when I used to live in Boston, direct easy flight. Love it. Too bad you didn't go to my favorite locations or restaurants. Amazing. A lot to explore in one go.
I here from a Azore citizen that a lot of people have left the country because not enough jobs and they need a lot of men power to boost the economy. I'm surprise you said most things were cheap.... I wish the houses were cheap too. Sweden and Azores are my dreams to live.
I am hoping you got to go to the other islands; every island has its own unique beauty! It is not fair to speak of the archipelago as a group just by looking/visiting San Miguel! I was born in Sao Miguel, but Pico is by far my favourite island in the group! Also, I believe you went in the winter that is why it is the quite deserted in many places you went to! The best time is definitely Jun-September! Kudos for making the video! :)
Good you explored alot in S. Miguel only as 1 of 9 Islands of the Archipelag of the Azores. Each Island is designated by its color , a culture of its History. In Terceira, for example, Angra do Heroísmo, - my City - has been the City nominated Capital of the World. All Islands are unique and beautiful. S. Miguel is one with most Nature beauty of all of them.
