Their best song, IMO. "They do all 16 dances" always cracks me up, like they have determined there are 16 dances total in the world, and they do them all.
After a horrible trauma in my childhood, I owe my very survival to the B52's. If I did not have this fun crazy silliness to dive into and surround myself with, I would definitely not be alive today. Thank you B 52's!
My daughter and I saw the B-52’s at the midstate fair Saturday night. The band was amazing we loved it. Cindy Wilson is not only under-appreciated but one of the most underrated singers of that genre and era. +10xx
Well, Kate, Cindy, and Fred were the main singers. Ricky and Keith did sing, but it was rare, and when they did, it was usually backing vocals instead of lead. There were exceptions, and "Song for a Future Generation" was one of them!
CluelessBeeKeeping Kate also has a killer voice but Cindy's voice is classic B52s. For a while Cindy left the band to start a family. They had two girls replacing one Cindy and it still wasn't as good. It's not the B52s without Cindy.
@@alisadetwiler3404 It's funny I'm reading this now (I'm taking a break from working outside...jeasch it's hot). I'm watching Love Shack. Which girl is Cindy Wilson in that video? Is it the blonde? Thanks for the info, I appreciate it! I agree, no Cindy, no B52s. What a great band. It's just a fun band. They're like candy, who doesn't like candy? Hell, the B52s are a national treasure! Thanks again!
@@JymDyer Thanks! I totally fell in love with ...well, everything about her in the 'bring me back my man' video. The way she moves, the expressions, the way she steps, the way she'd rest, the way she'd go from resting to singing. She hit the sweet spot. She is adorable, really, they both are. She's not so recognizable from the 1st video I saw/mentioned.
All the things you said. But what I always admire about her (and crush on, frankly) is: she was never slutty. She didn’t hang her bits out for the world to see. She danced. And sang. And was so remarkably, undeniably adorable. She was casually gorgeous. Unassuming. Deeply humble without being self-absorbed. I dig her sooooo much.
Early B-52's wow! The energy of their albums ! I bet it was a P.R. nightmare for the labels to promote. but damn ! the people who got it... We got it!!!! cheers!
I met the b52s at the Greek theater in 2001 or 2 can't remember but these guys are really down to earth they were having a birthday party after concert for the drummer and I talked with all of them for a couple of hours except Kate she wasn't saying anything just observing but she was cool Love the B52s
These guys were so good, how could I not know this, it's like prog pop and a small play at the same time, many things happening. Amazing. All of them giving it all on the stage.
I love the way the girls' voices blend so well. Sounded like the audience kinda rushed them but Kate does a good job of keeping the tempo back down. As for Cindy, I'd dance with that lady anytime!
Imagine being silly with your friends in your 20s and having to relive the silliness over and over and over and over and over for the rest of your l life.
Just posted this for my daughter's 30th birthday! I was seeing the B-52s 10 years before she was born, and we just saw them together (for the fourth time!) this summer.
you know, back in the 80's I kinda thought the B-52s were just a flash in the pan. I liked it, but i assumed it was a joke. No joke. They had a full blown style and a sound that is not duplicated. This song is a great example. Got the whole style - both fashion AND that sharp angular sound. Awesome band.
I've loved these guys since when their first album came out. As far as I'm concerned, their entire catalog of songs still sound great. This is STILL the ultimate party band. I'm here after listening to all their music on my ipod. 😵😳Of course, I didn't get a damned thing done the past few hours that I was planning to do today. But, I did get my exercise. Not bad for an old guy, LOL!
Saw them in Honolulu at a shitty strip club by the airport in the late 70’s. Bad Van Halen tribute band in the lobby. B-52’s went on at midnight after 2 hrs of sound problems (no monitors). They were pissed off and played a totally inspired, awesome show to a crowd of about 50-75 people. Real pros who knew their shit and were there to play their asses off for their fans.
Waaaaay before Alex Strangelove was even conceived, there once was this once-obscured new wave group from Athens, Georgia back in 1976 called the B-52's and they went on to become legendary. R.I.P. Ricky Wilson (original guitarist).
I got their first album on cassette tape as a birthday gift. I got in my car and took a ride and put in the tape. When this song came on I listened to it. After the song was over I didn't know if I wanted to throw the tape out of the car window or rewind it and listen again. I rewinded
