I was at the taping of this Countdown performance back in 1990 in Bussum Netherlands. I first saw the B-52s on MTV in 1989 watching the Channel Z video. And after that the Club MTV performance of Channel Z and Love Shack. When I heard the B-52s would be on Countdown I decided I HAD to go. 16 years old and ditching highschool for the day just to see the B-52s. I remember waiting outside for the Bs to arrive and when they did I didn't have the nerve to go up to them. The only one I got me to sign my black and white trucker cap was Cindy Wilson. And I was in awe. I was a very shy boy and I never did go out. So being in a television environment like this was very strange to me. Once the taping got started the B-52s did two interviews. One for the version of Countdown that was on an English channel and one for the Dutch one, where they counted down the current Dutch top ten of that week. I had a huge crush on Countdown presenter Jasper Faber, he was cute (you see him at the end of this video). The lipsynced performance consisted of Roam and Love Shack and I was right at the front clapping and singing my teenage life away. I had never seen something so freaking amazing in my life. I was a fan but after that I decided to be a lifelong fan. A few days after the taping of this show the B-52s were performing infront of about one million people for Earth Day in Central Park, New York and did the taping for Saturday Night Live. After about 35 years I am still a fan and I have overcome my shyness. I have met the B-52s numerous times over a lot of different continents. The B-52s are a source of inspiration and positivity for me. They bring me happiness and joy. And by this I am reclaiming my title as Holland's Number One B-52s Fan! xXx Citronella Slutesque
@@alexanderwald2046 Yeah, the trouble with old video was never the actual recording quality, at least with pro gear, but the broadcast. You could only get so much information with the technology of the time so a lot was lost in translation. If you can find original tapes/media then you can get pretty high quality out of it.
