One of the greatest comebacks ever. They lost Ricky Wilson. Keith takes over guitar and the songwriting and singing just became magical by all of them. They should be in the Rock Hall of Fame.
I agree. Have watched a few interviews with them and they always are very respectful of each other. Great to see. We need bands like this more than ever now

Certainly there is a deep friendness within. And that's curious that Kate seems to be a natural leader. Great interview, now I definitely love them.
I'm angry it took me till now to fully appreciate and respect The B-52's. I know it's 1989 but I still want to get in there and give Cindy a big hug. She's a beautiful southern belle with an incredible voice and a broken heart.
Right there with you. I played this tape Cosmic thing every day when I was stationed in then West Germany 1988-1991. Got me through rough times and my favorite song Roam. The album would be somewhere in a top 10.
Absolutely, even the way they started sounds like something out of a high school novel. Just 5 friends who went out for a drink and had the common thought, “hmm this could work”.
..yet another wonderful aspect to this crew is a timelessness.. 2 days younger than Cindy.. I’m still ‘discovering’ and appreciating their capture of youthful energy and artistic craft. Love to them all ~
i think in this generation, 2021,, this band is one of a kind , very creative song lyrics ideas, sounds its deliciously weird but people with high unique musicality can really get their music. i think they are only one in their category. amazing band. i love this band.
I love this interview so much. It feels like it was yesterday but unfortunately it’s over 30 years ago. Makes me sad. I need a time machine. The 70’s 80’s and 90’s were great.
Fabulous band. So different and distinct in look, lyric and sound Will truly miss knowing they are out there once they stop touring at the end of 2022. Oh to see them in Europe just one more time. .
I heard a story from someone who claimed to have lived in Athens in the late 70's. The B-52's showed up at a party that was occurring one night. The person who was throwing the party wanted to charge crashers a cover fee to get in. The B-52's at that time were known but not yet famous. The guy said he was tasked to handle the door. The B's showed up and the guy told them about the cover fee. They said they didn't have any money and wouldn't pay any if they did and started to leave. The guy then asked if they had any buds that they could contribute. Allegedly Keith Strickland said " we don't but we have these", and pulled what was at least an ounce of shrooms out of his pocket. They were purple and gnarly. They then gave him several caps and stems and were admitted. He then ate some of it and within thirty minutes he was wandering around the surrounding streets in this neighborhood in a psychedelic daze. Best mushrooms that he ever had according to him.
😢 Ricky was such a kid to me. I am a fan from the beginning. Fred looks like captain Kirk here. I have hope for your brother but it still hurts. I was a 9 year old when I heard Rock Lobster. I feel your pain. You match my family sooo much. Have older sisters. Yeah. Got to see you live looking like Dolls.
I loved B52's the first time round. Now my 3 children, twins 9 and 13 year old are the next generation who are so inspired by them and will keep the alive ❤
I've always loved the B52's music. My mother introduced me to their music when I was about 10.I got to see them 2008 in Papillion, NE. What a lovely interview. They seem so humble and authentic!
Saw them at the Warmoth Theater in San Francisco in 89'. They had to stop the show for a few minutes to get the audience to stop bouncing on the balcony because it was raining down plaster on the lower audience. I wonder if they remember that. Was one of the best shows I ever saw and I have been to hundreds of shows. I think Fred was the one that stopped it.
I bought the first album when it came out although not really sure why as l am mostly a black music person. But l love the B52s, the whole ethos and they are patently such nice people
They take no time turning their nose up at Country Rock, when that was basically their sound in the late 80s , after they finished their surf rock emo phase.
I remember watching them on Saturday Night Live. I was intrigued to say the least. Who were these people, what was this music they're playing. It was strange and weird and I loved it, and wanted more. Been a fan ever since!
SKILLS to all the members if this group it works so magnificently because they are all so CHILLAX and each have that most genuine respect for each they all think of each 0ther the way they think about themselves there is no no1 cuz they are a combined no1 .....
Not verry populair in my country because there was a lot of competition from the new wave and disco who wasent dead yet, big popstars like michael jackson, madonna etc etc . But B52 had its own style, and I loved it verry much. For me channel Z was there best song, because in Channel Z both female voices where going in canon. Verry difficuld to bring this song live I suppose. In my opinion this is a much underrated band !!!! I alreddy love the B 52 for 35 years and will love them the rest of my life !!! All go well you partyannimals !!!
The B52s 🚀 Cosmic Thang is the Best alternative rock new wave pop album ever produce and Love shack baby ❤️ love shack❤️🚀🤡😸😎👓🎪🍺👿 fabulous wigs electric scandalous costumes 🏳️🌈💣🤩
I find my write script Notes with a pen about this live a kind of appunti note eventi scritti a mano con la penna di quel periodo e ho letto che avevo scritto qualcosa di quel concerto ..anni 50 . Rock n Roll and Pop Music ..
Quello è un soggetto.. Definito una Personalità Multipla.. Una persona da cercare di evitare.. Non parlarci non ballarci.. Poi ballare insieme davanti a tutti.. Due sconosciuti. 'lei non sapeva lui no perché è una persona con personalità multipla..
