This documentary explores why some parents resort to feeding their babies fast food. It follows three families as they desperately try and get back on the right nutritional track.
Junk food addiction is dropping alarmingly down the age ladder, and we are now rearing a generation of fast food babies. This film reveals babies and toddlers eating a diet of chips, burgers and kebabs, all washed down with bottles of fizzy drinks.

@@dnjames9758 I used to love water when I was a baby until my grandma decided to give me juice and it just totally changed everything, I'm literally trying to teach myself to drink water more often because I live on coffees and juice and struggle to enjoy drinking water at all, it's not as bad as cola for example but I do feel guilty for not drinking a bit healthier

6 cans of coke a day for a 19 month old. That is absolutely shocking! My 18 month old has never had soft drink, she gets diluted organic cloudy apple juice with her breakfast and that’s it. They don’t need that poison in them. Shame on those parents, that’s child abuse!

This kid went through something very traumatic, as did the parents. They should have been offered help, instead they were left to deal with it. That isn't abuse, that's parents not getting the help they need.

I totally agree they need help after what happened but giving in on every little thing because of their past trauma just makes a bad situation worse. Therapy helps, certainly, but I still stand by what I said.

We cook every meal, from scratch, and NEVER buy crisps, chocolate, cakes (we make homemade, occasionally) sweets or sugary drinks. PURCHASING THESE THINGS are what makes the food bills more expensive!!

I love how supportive and non-judgmental the community doctor and the dietician and all the experts are. They are so nice that the parents can actually accept their opinions and get further help. I also love the support group for teenage mums where they cook together - just awesome!

I grew up on fast food and asian take out. My parents were teenage parents who didnt know how to cook and ddint know the harms. I am proud to say that as i grew older i started to transition to a healthy diet and have helped them transition as well. I am 24 now and they have lost a good bit of weight and are healthier than ever. It may be hard at first, but it gets so much easier because your taste buds change and start to crave healthy foods.

I feel for Cara and Gareth since their son had meningitis at 6 months old. I also was fighting for my life for like the first 4 years of my life, constantly in an out of hospitals. Had surgery at 6 months old as well. What Cara and Gareth experienced is so horrifying, no parent should have to go through it. I will say, though… that kid HAD to have tasted fast food, either right before or directly after his illness. He had to have.

Happy to see how the awareness of the parents was raised and how they got non-judgemental support. Wonderful transformations. With Simon as the biggest challenge, even he got motivated. Adding pre-made sauce to a pot of boiled pasta is NOT a homemade meal! Why the f. would you even give cola to a baby? The caffeine!!!! The sugar!!! Why would you have a "sweetie cupboard" reachable for the baby? And the laziness about cooking and dishes? The 1st family really frustrates me 😢

I don't hate premade pasta sauce, but I do ADD things to it like meat and vegetables (alongside more seasoning). And my family buys better brands, so maybe it's the better quality talking. But I swear premade pasta sauce is great when done right! Also, I add salt to the pasta water beforehand.

as someone with ADHD, yeah, yeah it is. it is better than takeaway or frozen processed food, if only by a little and carb-heavy. don't shame people for doing the bare minimum, you have no idea how hard it actually can be for some people and it's not good to shame one person for being 'lazy' when it's the only way another person can eat semi-healthy food on a semi-regular basis.

If you have a dishwasher and eat take out, you have very little dishes to do. If you are the adults, you have full control over what they eat. It looks like these parents can't stand a second of crying and saying no, though the tantrums. This is neglectful and abusive.

Growing up in the 80s in Ireland I rarely remember having fast food as a child, maybe at a friends birthday party or something. We had chips and burgers once a week as a treat but my Mam made them herself. When we were teenagers we maybe got fast food once a week but that was it.

My daughter's 14 in August, & has NEVER tried coke, lemonade or anything fizzy, through her own choices! The man who said he has no control over what his young child eats needs a serious intervention, feeding your child nothing but takeaway's & junk food is nothing short of child a***e in my mind! Watching this makes me so glad I didn't introduce my babies to any sweets at an early age. My 2 toddlers don't like sweets and likes to drink only water. The only sweets they like are apples, grapes, watermelon, and bananas.

My lil brother used to be like this. But we were able to taught him to eat healthy foods. He didn't like it at first and kept on refusing. Eventually, he had no choice and ended up eating the veggies.

My so also had meningitis at six months, it messed his food up, and with all his operations it was one battle to far. He's 25 now and is still picky. My other child is the complete opposite . Amazing where you can hide veggies....lumpy mash became the norm.

So sad parents won’t take time to cook for children, you can boil a pan of veggies for a couple days an warm them , a peanut butter and low carb bread is better than out door sandwich for children, are they not thinking there digging there kids grave , high cholesterol, diabetes , cancers , clogging there veins , ruining there teeth , not to even bring up there weight will bloom out of control, this should be under child abuse , for lazy parents . Horrible parents, should not even called mum

Add some spices for goodness sake to that jarred pasta sauce. It helps SO much! garlic pow, onion powder, salt, pepper, a sprinkle of sugar and it doesn’t taste so cheap anymore. It will take them some time but if they put some serious thought into healthier homemade meals, but it will happen.

Right, I really don’t think with the first family immediately getting rid of all sugar and unhealthy foods was a smart decision. It needs to happen eventually, but sugar addiction/withdrawals are real and a more slow, steady weaning off would be a lot more sustainable and beneficial long-term. Not even mentioning the caffeine

I can never bring myself to properly watch this. It truly breaks my heart and makes me feel sick. Lazy parents who don't care about their children. Yeah healthy home cooked meals can take longer to make and be more effort and work, but no one said being a parent was an easy job.

Also, it doesn't kill you to eat the same food two days in a row. I'm a single mum with a fulltime job and I simply don't have time to cook every day. But in summer, there is always time for tomato salad and roast courgettes and in winter we have the same soup or stew for at least two days in a row. I keep the pot in the fridge and it makes our life much simpler. We have chips on a sunday out at a park, lake or swimming pool and the it is a real treat. This way is also very good for your budget and kids will not be too fussy about what they're served at school/friends' houses.

I have no control over my child.. YOU ARE THE PARENT you should have ALL THE CONTROL. That's just a poor excuse for him being a bad father!!! We've never used Fast food as a source of nutrition, it's seen as a treat in our family and we only have it maybe 5-8 times a YEAR. I cook every day.

Thats how i taught my babies. Sometimes being around other kids can encourage eating veggies and potty training. Be advised that being around certain behaviors can promote other things as well so choose wisely.

This is horrible. There's absolutely nothing wrong with fast food for kids. But it shouldn't be every meal. I grew up in the 90s and we had fast food maybe a few times a month. Rest of our meals were home cooked and we always ate supper as a family.

Why do people lie to children about pain? I screamed when I got my ears pierced. I'd been told it didn't hurt but the way it clamps your ear left me aching for an hour afterwards. I was so shocked by the pain that when I needed them redone I begged to have it done with a needle instead. When I got my first tattoo I was expecting pain and got through it no problem.

Why do they need an expert to tell them these things. When I learned I was going to have a baby I researched everything I could on nutrition. I changed my own diet so I could start eating healthy when my son could start eating solids.

this is completely unreasonable. If your child is under 5, don’t introduce them to fast food not even for a ‘taste’ babies are supposed to drink milk, not cola, and if they still have a pacifier, don’t give them fried foods. This is disgusting child neglect.

These are just children, they’re not developed enough to know what their eating and decide for themselves so they have to rely on their parents to feed them healthy, nutritious meals so it’s heartbreaking to see when they can’t even do this. The parents complain when they don’t eat ‘home cooked’ (which aren’t even home cooked) meals but they are the ones who have got the kids into the bad habits in the first place and the fact that in the first one, the mum is having to stop herself from laughing is disgusting

Saying that you dont have control over what your children eat is just an excuse of you being lazy. My son is 9 now and he eats everything, I am overweight and I am showing my son that being on a healthy diet is what is best for him to keep his energy up. YOU ARE A PARTENT NOT A FRIEND. People in the comments need to remember that this documentary is 10+ years old! There's so many more educational resources regarding nutrition available for parents in the UK now (it's up to the parents whether they follow it of course)

You cannot count on the "common sense" of people, especially when there are children involved. Brittain is different, their number 1 problem is child carers. Meaning kids who take care of 1 or both disabled parents. Diet isn't a big Concern

I thought the first family was bad but then I saw Taylor and Harley. Harley asked for a pear and she didn’t even buy it for him like that’s not laziness because pears don’t have to be cooked just cut and also food aside I understand the under 2 still using a pacifier (even though it’s still a little bit too old) but at 3 years old she’s just lazy parenting
