The true good ending is both relieving and melancholy. You only escaped due to an error. No matter how hard you’d have tried, nothing you could have done in that place would have brought you out; it was simply a mistake that favored you.
I love how you pointed that out, the thought of an error actually occuring makes me think of so many different scenarios. Like, what if you got glitched back in? What if the "glitch" isn't actually an escape and instead it's just another level - making you believe you're free while still striking you with paranoia.
Idk, from what I have learned from speedrunning Is that the error can be achieve due to certain circumstances that you yourself had to meet in order to trigger it
What makes the backrooms so scary to me isn't even the circumstances but simply the overwhelming feeling of being backed into a corner. I have a pretty big fear of being trapped or not being able to escape a situation, and this just highlights that.
@@mosterchife6045 that ending is the *CREEPIEST* one of them all to me. All you get is a "Someone is coming. " WHO TF IS COMING? OMFG And your trapped. Like, holy fucking shit-
The 'you cheated' ending is the scariest to me, just the feeling of dread being trapped in an all white room as the only exit is a (very contrasting) dark hallway from which 'someone' is presumably coming.
@@HattedFool the door is one of them, the walls, floor and roof as well. God knows what'll happen to you once you get sent there, because sure enough death is far too merciful for them.
in my opinion, the “you cheated” is probably the scariest ending out of all of them. who knows, maybe this is just a trap for you to go insane. but imagine you are trapped in a room of white walls with the door spread wide open, not knowing who or what is coming for you, and even worse, when is it coming.
Imagine if you were in the middle of an massive, empty room instead (so big that you can’t see the walls), so you wouldn’t know where they were coming from
the "You're out" ending feels kind of beautiful. the feeling of FINALLY being OUT OF THERE after god only knows however long, and running as far away as possible so you never have to be there ever again.
... a few things. 1. The "You cheated" ending gave me a feeling of paranoia that no one should feel. 2. Most of these gave me a feeling of such existential dread that I'm now terrified-
The true good ending gives me chills. After all the stuff you've been through, the sacrifices you had to make, how many times you lost hope, you are finally free.
@@DeepRockGalacticMissionControlyou can recognise you’re out. It’s enough for you to meet more than one people in the time span of a day and you’ll find that you are indeed out. It’s not so easy to find people in the Backrooms. That and the fact that the places you go are not entirely duplicate at infinitum of one room…
It's because surviving monsters and environments is "what you're supposed to do", it's "normal" in that world. But hacking the literal universe, and then *being teleported to an empty room* with nearby footsteps, means that a moderator, or worse *the admin god* noticed what you did, and that transcendental entity is either going to pacifically talk to you about the subject, or put you in an *eternal torture worse than any kind of hell* you couldn't possibly imagine
“Make sure not to steal a child’s seat! Making someone angry on this level is not a good idea.” Me, sitting on the table: *Reality can be whatever I want it to be.*
@@rodopuyeng9675 imagine once you sit on the table, someone whispered to you "You cheated, someone's coming for you". Then the room dimmed a bit and getting more silent than it already is
@@potechiz then the lights suddenly dies out and you panic, suddenly you're in that room. Hollow white room with a door slightly open that leads to darkness. You hear footsteps that are coming to the room you're in. It keeps getting louder. You accept your fate.
I gotta admit, despite all the creepiness the backrooms seem relatively nice. They let us have a break and let us have a birthday cake, and even let us know when something is coming.
Its like Hades with the Fountain Chambers Also i would love to see a rogue-like (Rogue-lite, whatever) game situated in the Backrooms, its just a perfect combination
"Oh no" is probably one of the scariest for me. I mean you were already running and decide to hide, but you can hear them getting closer and start questioning whether your spot was good, but you'll never know until they turn that corner and it's too late..
Out of all the endings, the simplicity of the "you cheated" ending absolutely terrifies me. I think it's the fact that it's so minimally described as to what's going to happen which makes your mind race with possibilities.
someone should just make a videogame where you go through randomly chosen rooms while encountering notes from past survivors with messages like this ones while being chased by something, or maybe you arent, but it makes you feel like you are. Kind off like the spooky house of jumpscares game.
@@MrShaman77 yeah, its actually closer to that game but rooms like these cannot be auto generated like binding of isaac cause isaac just spawns different enemies n difficulty but the room barely changes size or color, it'd be the contraire with this.
The Backrooms fill me with such an intense, overwhelming sense of dread. It's like nothing I've ever felt. Whoever made the idea: thank you, but no thank you
@@awllypollyas8292 It's a very well formulated creepypasta, there's an entire wiki with I believe hundreds of levels, and a bunch of entities, events, etc, you will love it. I think there's no lore, at least not a very clear one because no one knows how they exist, just how you enter them
5:50: Honestly? Mournful Camaraderie (F8) is a perfect song of choice for what this level entails. The haunting, unrelenting drone juxtaposed with the dread and melancholy of a melody long forgotten is a sublime representation of this dissonant spatiotemporal liminality.
I don’t imagine the “you cheated” ending as a hopeless and painful end, but rather a buildup to an insane boss battle. Assuming the “cheat” was hacking rather than a random glitch, the player would be pretty strong too. Also maybe cheating was the only way to escape the back rooms🤷🏽♂️
I'd rather think of that room as one you get teleported after being too good in other levels of the backrooms, then the entity mentioned by the one who invented the backrooms will come, and this will be your hardest challenge, and if you win, you can free people from the backrooms, eliminating every entity, and make them accessible from normal reality , but since no one has ever defeated the backrooms boss, backrooms still exist and that room waits for the one true champion who will free them all (sorry, little too long)
It’s from Yume Nikki! Specifically the FC world in Yume Nikki. If you like weirdcore then I recommend Yume Nikki, it’s a good horror game and it’s not too scary
I love how the back rooms turned from a simple image of a liminal space, to a survival game type scenario, going through liminal space rooms and surviving
If anyone was wondering, the "oh no.." ending. The music background is from an RPG game called ib. The music usually happens when the character is in a bad situation. I remember a guy name gary (in the game) was stuck in a room full of dolls watching him. He was locked inside the room and the only way for him to escape is to rip out the dolls chest to find the key. The thing is, theres a painting across the room thats watching him as well, about to kill him in a few minutes.
@@user-gf7qc1le7w Yuh like the game is based off of a girl (the main character) who was just going to an art museum with her parents and she somehow fell into the other side of the world which is in one of the paintings. The game itself is sad tho because (i think) the reason why there was another world in the art museum is because the person/the creator of those paintings had passed away and they're just there roaming around the other side of the world killing those who enter their world ://
I have a theory that in the “You cheated” ending, they want you to think someone is coming and are using a looping footsteps sound. That way you’ll go insane and will always be scared, while loosing track of time.
@@sonic_4 what they said to be true probably wasn't the theory came up with, but more likely the statement where they said you'll go insane from the constant sound of footsteps
level complete! ending: you can now play as Luigi. edit: holy crap thanks you guys for the likes its been a while since i checked on this comment lol thank you merry christmas
I like this version - minimal creatures encountered, empty rooms of various themes and vibes, even the more positive shots have an eerie feeling of despair about them. Plus the levels are infinite, not limited to 8 or 10 or whatever other people have said there are
@@gaminggonzalez Yeah see... for one how would we even know that? But also that makes it seem too artificial as opposed to an alternate world. The whole "noclipping through the world" thing should be more of a metaphor comparison thing, as opposed to you like ACTUALLY noclipping as if you're in a game
I truly loved watching these types of videos when they come out. The only annoying thing is I didn't have an account so I had to manually search them up. But now that I have an account, I can rewatch these types of videos as much as I want without any problems. I truly love these videos :)
Incredible choice of music for these. The supermarket one actually sounds like the ambience of a supermarket, the creepy ones sound creepy, and the comforting ones sound comforting.
@@thebig_steel the exact opposite, my friend. You're a true enjoyer of the uncanny, one of the originals. This backrooms stuff is great but we go way back in the nightmare realm. Lmao

“You hope to be able to atleast pray for forgiveness, but that’s not allowed here” Is honestly one of the most scary rooms of all of these. Just hoping and praying atleast to be able to escape, and being told that that isn’t even allowed. Like whatever higher power it is that you believe in, all of a sudden they have lost all power.
I'm an atheist but this would honestly scare me out of my sanity, like, even if I don't believe in religion, a church is still a safe space, and not being able to be safe there would honestly be so terrifying
@@cherrybeom4181 not to rude or anything im just confused, if you were an atheist wouldn't you view the church as just any old regular building? The whole safety part of church is because we believe God will save and protect us, that's why it's a safe place and that's why this place is horrific because our prayers and hope for God is stripped from us.. sure it could be a symbol of hope for you but why? Just because we believe it is? That don't make sense to me.. why does a church affect you so much? You're an atheist.
The Nostalgic ending gives the vibe as it’s supposed to. But I swear I’ve never been there before but it feels so nostalgic and comfortable in a way I can’t describe.
I didnt expect the "You Cheated" ending to be that bad, but something about a white room, dark hallway, and the sound of footprint really gets ya Edit: Yo guys, y'all want any beef sticks? Im at the gas station
Crimson Forest ending You found yourself on sub level 9.1, the Crimson Field. You're walking through the tall, red, grass trying to avoid whatever is hunting you. You see a red light and your best instinct is to not go towards it and go the opposite way which leads you to some reddish fog. You get closer and closer to a forest and see a path with a sign that says "Crimson Forest" and "Red Wood Residency" You walk in and people quickly welcome you which makes you already feel home. You learn that the Crimson Forest is a safe place from entities, for the Lanterns emit fog to keep them out. As the people lead you to the outpost where they live you see a four winged owl fly by. Deformed creatures live here too, leave them be and they'll leave you be. You get to the outpost and decide this is where you'll stay for the rest of you life, it's too dangerous to continue..
If this was an actual game and you get the you're out ending I imagine just running in the field, not looking back, seeing the stars and the moon move, and then far in the distance the sun, it's finally rising
Yeah - just one thing. In Greek mythology (learned from another comment) when you die you appear in a field of wheat. The video creator put a wink face on it. The true ending is just death 💀
@@aslightidiot Actually, if you don't do anything bad or good, you go to the Fields of Asphodel. If you are a horrible person, you go to the Fields of Punishment. One of the things I like about the Backrooms is that most of the pictures are real. That being said, there are some weird ass places out there. It also makes me question the context the pictures were taken in.
The "you cheated" and "take a seat" are the scariest ones By cheating the punishments are death, being parasited, mind controled, stay forever in this room, restart all over, lose one of your limbs and so on By taking the wrong seat there's a large chance to become the kids food, being beaten to death or become one of the furnitures

As a kid, I always loved exploring large buildings like churches or the conference my parents would go to every couple years. The feeling that there might be a y number of hidden staircases, hallways and doorways was exhilarating. My siblings and me would always run when we heard an adult approaching from behind a bend in the hallway. The feeling that we were in areas where we were not allowed to be made running away even more exciting (and a little scary if your siblings outrun you)
okay but the "oh no" room is this feeling... imagine youre trying to find somewhere to hide and you find a place, and you feel a bit safer thinking thats a good place to hide, but then you think again and youre not so sure anymore and you know they are going to find you and you can slowly feel the fear and helplesness and panic creeping up more and more again
Hide behind the chairs as best you can, close your eyes, stare into the ground, pray it doesn’t find you. Seconds later, as fear and regret starts to grip you again, you look around in time to see some thing rounding the corner right next to you. Seeing it find where you are, when you already know you’re trapped - I think it’s instant dread.
the bittersweet ending seems appealing in a strange way. what if the creatures are other people who have become trapped in the backrooms, and the strange events there sort of warp them into these strange, shadowy beings? however, they aren't hostile or angry, they're just. there. and they keep you company. they show you around, show you what a strange place they call home, until you become one of them. then, the cycle continues. idk where i was going with this edit: i saw someone comment about giving them flowers, but what if THEY gave YOU flowers? which leads me to: what if they acted like iron golems from minecraft? weirdly cute, docile, but extremely protective
I would like to think of the people who are in the backrooms primarily and intention like what you said are denizens of this strange, scary, even comforting at times reality
If you lose your new digital sentient body begins to dissect and the pain is unbearable. Don't worry, soon the pain will stop, but you will lose sentience until you cease to exist just like the fake air that surrounds you, stuck in a video game until the game permanently malfunctions, where you leave the realm of existence, no longer seeing life.
@@Peirsil nice! also it doesnt matter if the game is already spoiled to you, the main point of the game is to explore and not the end but yeah keep up the work.
3:31 when this ending came, that image, with the text and the music all together made me tear up a little with a soft smile, as i remembered those times i used to smile all the time, i had mild dreams, and all those good times i spent with my friends.. Im perfectly ok, but those past times were just too good to forget.
"You don't even remember who you are anymore. Your sanity has collapsed." That line is worded so well. It hits harder than any of the scary lines from the bad endings.
Also nostalgic ending. I'm a really nostalgic person and sometimes I feel like it's not a bad place to be forever. If was running through the Backrooms and looked at that window and see my own past i'd probably stare at it for too long
As someone who developed deep fears from knowing if I couldn’t find my dad he was waiting to scare me and then one day he abandoned my family and the whole day I was looking for him so I terrified of being alone is places where people should be…I’m addicted to these videos because they are my fear to a 10/10 visualized and audible
I remember seeing an ending where it was like "You wake up from your bed, only to find out that everything was a dream. You rush to the window to see your familiar neighborhood, and hear noises coming from the kitchen. You are finally home. Or are you?"
I've seen you before..... you said the same thing... I don't remember where but I'm going to say something this time, so I can prove you are actually here
Bru The "You cheated" ending would probably go like this: Walking around in the backrooms Thinks of a Way to Noclip and Skip Any Level The Gearmaker Finds out You get teleported inside a Room With 1 Door,Slightly open It's too Dark to See Anythint Outside the door While there is an Unknown Light source on the Inside You hear Foots Steps Rapidly approaching you They get Louder-
If you want to experience some backrooms, go to Chicago at Navy Pier on a cold night (preferably after Christmas or after New Years when no one is around.) The parking garage is massive and the stairs can be hard to navigate.
Troll ending: One of the monsters gets to you but then.... The backrooms was just a weird mirror trick. You never left the real world happy april fools day you got trolled
the nostalgic memory made me emotional- a slight grasp of sanity and warmth that reminds you of the good times, even though you know you’ll be stuck there forever.
"you cheated" is my worst nightmare anticipation is one of my many flaws. *knowing* for *certain* that someone is coming for you, and you have no way to escape, so you are forced to wait for them without knowing when they are coming is absolutely terrifying

Imagine getting the true good ending saying you're out to run then you start taking off and trip over a rock sending you back into the game once again 🤣
Okay, the Game Over Ending actually makes sense since most levels can put your sanity at risk, and have a high chance to lose it if you wander in it for too long.
Well your alone for hour's on the high form of survival and alone it's like being in the hole or shu programs in prison I've being told by some dudes that they seen dudes break and themselves see people forget time all kinds of shit we are social creatures that's why the backrooms is kinda messed for me cause what if I'm taking shit

I think I'm the only person that is gonna say the name of the song used during 1:50, lol. The song used at 8:00 is called l, "Place In The World Fades Away" from Everywhere At The End Of Time, by the Caretaker.
The "game over" ending scares me the most. In the moment it would not be scary, but the idea of my own mind abandoning me in such a place terrifies me.
The "!MOM,IM COLD!" ending got me, it reminded me of how one of the kits in thunder cats died from frostbite on thier paws which made them unable to walk which made them starve to death
This is well done. This video made me feel fear, loneliness, and awesomeness. The text is so well written and captures the uncertainty and dread of the Backrooms. Can someone provide a playlist of the video's music? It is so weird and lovely
I love that all of these endings and events are only truly complete if you use your imagination. Only you can choose whats scary and whats not, only you can decide how its gonna turn out, since its not a fully complete idea. Theres room for the imagination, and the imagination is a terrifying place
If thats the case then for the my (imaginated version) "You cheated" ending the monster that was supposed to come out became an average gmod mod and caged me for eternity destined to watch others be fools too and make the same mistake untill the end of time.
The nostalgic ending..unnerves me because I had a dream once where I was a kid again and in an elementary school. It was a rainy day and as I went higher with each staircase, the sun would start to set with each level. Doesn't help that it's the most nostalgic dream i've had.
the beautiful abscence of noise, the infinite and illustrious emptiness, whose wind fills, whose sophistry kills... the yume nikki final song actually, i typed wrong lol
