Clicked on this as a fan of Chonny and it inspired me to watch Emesis Blue. God, it's such a beautifully constructed Movie. It leaves you tons of room to think and theorize, but it's genuinely beautiful from a cinematography perspective as well, with tons of symbolism and creativity. To think this is a fan film made in Source Film Maker of all things is incredible.

1:18 - 1:27 I love how well this part fits with the context of film. Archibald's respawn experiments we're essentially playing god to avoid expenses for a war, but he hides all the horrible side effects and consequences such has the zombies under a friendly facade, a facade that falls apart once you dig into it and see the sickening true horrors behind those gates.

As someone who loves the Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde book i never noticed this right way! The book and movie are extremely similar in many ways.

Medic mains when the teammate they are healing dies mid battle

My theory with Emesis Blue's Medic fits in with the original story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The story of Jekyll was never originally a split personality, it was about Jekyll taking in a formula he brewed to change how he looked just so he can cause crime and other mischief without facing the consequences because people see him as Hyde, and he goes scott-free when he changes back as Jekyll. The story itself gives Jekyll a bad ending because the potion he has been taking starts to become permanent as even in Jekyll's sleep he turns into Hyde, until he could never change back. Now, my theory with Emesis Blue is that Medic as we see him is very passive, and non violent. But whenever he does turn violent he is completely not himself, and that is displayed very well by the red eyes that come from him sometimes. Medic is not in complete control of his body as some other force takes possession of him, but until the end we do see Medic fully succumb to whatever's happening to him as like when he snuck into Archibald's funeral, he pops out the casket and kills Spy then escapes. That is no longer Medic, that's the full embodiment of whatever was causing him to be violent but silently from the inside. How does this connect to the story of Jekyll & Hyde? A part of my theory as to why Medic is being like this is because of the Emesis Diazepam he has been taking in without his knowledge, by the end of Emesis Blue we see that Medic has been taking in the pills but they were hidden under a fake label to look like prescription drugs. Whatever those pills are, they have a side effect that turns Medic into someone else that he isn't and he stays that way till the car accident. It lines in pretty well with the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, a man taking in a potion or drug to become something that he is not, but only for Medic's case.. He was unaware of what was going on. Edit almost a year later: I forgot to mention that Jekyll was secretly evil and only expresses it openly when he is in the form of Hyde. For Medic he is naturally good, the pills were what was effecting him mentally.

The song is so goddamn fitting! And the video composition and alignment with the lyrics is top notch!

And I know I shouldn’t feed you, but somehow I feel the need to, like a deviant or a drunkard condemned by oaths they cannot see through. And lo, here I stand, half a man. So if you can, please take this phial from my hand before I change my mind and let the freak upon this land. I’ve tried this before, to keep a lock upon this door, but every night I sleep myself I awake as him once more. I’ve lied and I’ve bargained to keep these shackles hardened, but the creature lain in wait will never cease his barrage, and I’ve begun to grow short in both temperance and stores since my salt I so rely on seems to be tainted and impure. So I laugh at the irony. And I know there’s one single, lonesome cure, but if it takes Mr. Hyde with me, then I’m glad to hang.
