The Banana Beam - Sailing Catamaran BareBare in paradise - Ep 19
In this episode, we take apart and rebuild the beam in the aft of BareBare. We paint it in a beautiful color, Bermuda blue.
The lagoon of the French Polynesian Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Huahine, is pure paradise and on so many peoples bucket list. We feel like the most lucky travel couple in the world, cruising in this area!

Do the bulwarks you added help to reduce spray? Is the spray bad while sailing? The Viking ships near the end of the video are cool too!

The annoying spray usually comes up between the hulls, so I don’t think the bulwarks helps much against the spray! Us vikings loves Viking ships 😏❤️⛵️⛵️❤️

Your bulwarks should be standard fit on all Tiki's. They make Bare Bare, along with her flush decks, as sexy as the Wharram classic designs. Only Vikings would choose oak for the boards though, fit for shunting ice and boarding actions eh? Can you explain how they are fitted, did they need steaming and edge setting or are they plain planks bent around and screwed to the ends of the beams?

Thank you very much - we like it very much as well, it was my husband Leif Erik that came up with the idea doing it this way! Oak is very good hard but needs to be varnished every year. The pandemic has worked hard on it and we have ended up painting it orange - «Firework orange». We did not steam them! I will have Leif Erik answering your other questions!

Leif Erik said: we have screwed the end plate to the beam and drilled four holes on each side of end plate and through the bulwarks. And we lashed it together. Now it is easy to take of in four pieces. Does this answer your questions?
