An absolute pop masterpiece: great lyrics, great melody, great songwriter, great singers, great harmonies and great instrumentation. One of the best songs of all time, not just of the '80s. Nearly 40 years old now and still sounds fantastic. A genuine work of art in every way. Oh, and Susanna is absolutely beautiful.
I ran into my old bus driver about 11 yeats ago. My oldest was an infant. She remembered me by name lol. We went around the grocery store together and i helped her find all her items. Love you mrs. St.john! It was a joy for me. Looking back, now that ive had to do this with all my grandparents, i hope she's at peace.
When I was in school I could not listen to this song without feeling sick to my stomach; it reminded me of Mondays. It took me 3 years after graduation to appreciate this song.
There was magic in the songs of that era which would transport the listener to another world. Sadly I don't feel anything when I listen to today's music. Miss those days, those movies and those songs.
Prince's genius is so encompassing and so deep. Probably, one of the songs he gave away because his label wouldn't allow him release so many songs. Regardless of how it ended up in the hands of the Bangles, it was written by a genius and performed by a wonderful group.
When I was a little boy I heard that song on the radio while playing with some scented candles and thought she said "It's just another MERRY Monday". Whenever I hear that song, I recall that fond memory from my childhood which always brings me a bright smile to my face.
What a great song! Before I saw it here in the comments, I had had no ID that Prince wrote it. Man was a musical genius. Thanks for sharing the lyrics with us.
If you listen too the lyrics prior too this particular one; you'd notice she states that "all the nights why did my lover have too pick last night too get down" she continues too mention how "doesn't it matter that I have too feed the both of us and employment is down", this is basically her saying she is the only one who has a job between her and her partner, she got D down pretty late on a Sunday night and she's tired every Monday from it. Lol.
A great song by The Bangles! One of many songs written by Prince for other artists. Also one of many songs he's written under a pseudonym. This was a featured track on "American Top 40 - The '80s" (from March 22nd, 1986), & was the #15 song. Bravo, The Bangles!
I remember my child hood when we used to rush to get the audio cassettes of bangles, wham, boney m,abba etc.infact we used to record it in a coney empty cassette .wonderful childhood and excellent time we had.
I woke up by my husband asking for something for his headache. I needed sleep because I was up all night with an over active salivary gland. This song was on my mind all of a sudden and I started singing it. It got me through the morning. Thanks Bangles!!!
I heard this song may be in 1980's or 1990's when I was a college going girl.I heard this song in a cassette of hits of the world , which I bought from here in my city Rawalpindi.I liked this song very much, moreover I use to sing with the original song when it is being played..Now I am 51 years of age and married for 23 years mashaAllah. You look like an Asian as your hair colour is dark brown, and the name of your band is bangles and bangles are mostly used and adored by the ladies and girls of Asia.We also use mehndi (a herbal dark brown powder of the dried leaves of a plant called mehndi leaves which is appreciated and widely used by our Holy prophet peace be upon him.).I still like this song very much as it describes the everyday routine of a European independent girl in a very nice way. It's music is also very nice.During my college days I heard it on my stereo player but nowadays I use to hear it through the deck in my house or the deck in my car while driving. Please keep on singing and making such good songs .A lot of prayers, appreciation and love from Rawalpindi,Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asia.
This popped up in my recommended videos and I got hit with all the feels! I've known this song since I was a kid and I completely forgot about it! ❤ Glad it popped up!
For all us going through this C-19 Pandemic: Nothing has felt more like a movie moment in the years I’ve lived then basically being at PayLess during the end of the world and everyone is ripping toilet paper and Totino’s party pizzas off the shelf as others are jumping over people and shoving everyone in their way while this song subtly plays in the background on a Monday evening.
Heard this for the first time this morning on the radio, whilst I was looking out at the pouring rain and realizing that I had to walk in that...the song was pretty relevant, been humming it in my head all day!
