Banshees give me the heebie-jeebies more than any other ghost type... It's just the worst when you're the target, but at least it gives the target a lot of photo ops. 😫
I love banshee games because I'll stay in a building for a few good minutes then go, "well I know I'm not the target" before it starts hunting the moment someone else walks in
I've had a game where a banshee started hunting in literally >30 seconds on pro farmhouse once, has anyone else had this happen? Fking terrifying how fast this ghost can hunt
The banshee has an interesting power that it executes sometimes. It allows it to travel to its victim through any barricade and stand near them, and then wait for 20 seconds. If the player leaves sight of the banshee before the 20 is up and didnt leave the building, it hunts. Thats how it can hunt at any sanity level. Also it doesn't require a stalking phase to hunt,which *might* be the same case with the revenant as well. How true that is is unknown without digging through the code. Thats the thing about Phasmo. Nothing is truly a guarantee. Except for evidence line-ups and the fact that theres definitely a ghost in the area.
How likely the Banshee is to use that power depends on it's aggressiveness (or lack of shyness) which is randomly generated, ever since I got the game, I only ran into 2 Banshees that were aggressive enough to start hunts even with sanity at 100%, in one of the 2 games we had barely entered the house (Ridgeview) and were still looking for a cold room, all it took was 1 minute and it started a hunt, so yes, they DO have this ability but it is quite rare for them to use so. Banshees can quickly eliminate entire teams on large/medium maps if they are excessively aggressive, since they always will navigate to towards it's target, hiding is pointless. Revenants will respect the sanity, along with Demons, the problem is that Revs, Demons and Poltergeists and Onis drain sanity very quickly with frequent activity, this is most notable with Demons that are able to start hunts at or below 65% sanity. The increased sanity drain from very active ghosts can also be an problem if the ghost is an Yurei, however those have nothing special in terms of speed or hunting mechanics so it's easy to hide from or outrun Yurei's, same with Mare's, despite the Demon-like +10% hunt likelihood modifier with all lights out, they rarely get to an person during hunts 😂
@@CrackManT I've actually had some horror stories with Mares. They sometimes just show up in dark rooms during hunts for me sometimes. I never could explain it before. It could just be a case of coincidence where some mares happen to check my hiding spot during a hunt. That, and the time distance between their stalks and hunts can be close to zero in darkness.
@@CrackManT Additionally, if I recall correctly, the dev added speed to the slower ghosts so they can catch up to players if they aren't Jinns or Revenants.
@@hathuntersscout2792 From expeirence, Mare's, Poltergeists, Phantoms and perhaps Wraiths, seem to have the ability to teleport to an random player, we've tested this among friends and it appears they give off EMF level 2 when they do that, they can do that when stalking as well, not sure if it's intended to happen during hunts, I did see some Mare's and Phantoms instantly zoom to player's locations, but it's not that common.

The Banshee is my rarest encountered ghost type. I've found it like 4-5 times, and one sent me a chill down my spine. Like 1 minute after me and my 2 friends (one bought all the items and stood in the van) entered the professional Grafton Farmhouse, it began stalking my friend exploring rooms downstairs for like 1 and a half minute until he found ghost room, and simultaneously after he pointed it out on a radio it succesfully hunted him down. Then we went downstairs in direction of room our friend died in (it was a workshop, 2-3 rooms from closest exit). After we got in, friend went to the main entrance to take some motion sensors (our van overseer helped us by taking items next to entrance doors so we dont have to run everytime).Ghost began appearing for him just after he left ghost room. Another hunt began as he was coming back, ironnically enough ghost focused on him and after 20 seconds of blinking lights i've heard him scream in pure fright and psychical pain (lmao) behind the wall i was standing next to. I was 100% sure it was Banshee so i decided to abort the mission, but i didnt made it to the exit, it closed them in front of me, everyone knows how did this finish. The sad thing about this was the fact that our friend in van wasn't informed of enough evidence, we have only found -10 degrees Celcius temperature in ghost room, so he though this was demon as it was highly aggresive. As it turned out, he was wrong. 10$ earned (ghost picture taken by his first prey), no main objectives completed (motion sensors, emf level 2+ and dirty water).
One of banshee I played in Bleasdale tried to reach me from the other side of my room. I can sense the heart beat went off for a solid 10 seconds but I couldn't see anything in front of me (I used my flashlight but still nothing there). Fun fact from this session is that (1) It killed me during the next hunt and (2) It didn't hunt unless I am inside, no matter how little our sanity is
Ah the Banshee, I've had a unique experience with this ghost. I played with my 2 friends in Edgefield (that makes the three of us). I'm gonna explain it this way, I'm A, the brave friend is B, and the van friend is C. There is only one person (B) in the building, our sanity is at like 40%, it does not hunt. So I decided to drop my sanity for it to hunt, it doesn't hunt. Me and B is at 0%, in the ghost room, screaming its name multiple times, and C is still in the van checking our headcams, his sanity is still at 40%, still doesn't hunt. So, knowing its a Banshee, we asked C to come in. The moment C stepped in the house it immediately started hunting. Friend B with his camera came towards to Banshee to take a pic, and the Banshee just ignored him and pass by him AND me, and just go to where C is hiding as if the Banshee knows where he is at. Banshee is fun when multiplayer, but Banshee's ability is terrifying when solo imo, especially since Edgefield has no where to loop.
I don't know about "leaving the site" part, chief. We had two sessions of banshees and both of them were after me. None of them start the hunt unless I am inside even when my entire team's sanity dropped below 20
My experience with friends has been it seems to either focus one even when they left because I've been inside while the other three weren't and nothing. As soon as they come back inside, it resumes haunting activities against one of them. This was before the recent updates though.
0:32 quick correction; Banshees chose a target player once all players are loaded into the game, it does not change it's target player until the target player dies, in which it will choose a new one from the alive players. as long as the Target player doesn't die, the Target player will be the same the entire rest of the round. This is confirmed in the actual code of the game
Annoying little tidbit to go along with this if someone decides to go on truck duty out of pussing out you can never get anything to happen because the banshee selected said person in the truck, so if no matter what you try you cant get anything and some one stays back send that person in alone so they can doe and you guys can progress the mission.
Just a quick change, everything you said is correct except that if the target leaves the building it doesn't choose a new target. Only after the target dies. If you can find out who the target is then everyone else can be in the house while the target is in the Van and it will never start a hunt.
I did a test and Banshe still atack you (wait till you come into a house) if you leave the house and you are the target. I have tried it and my friend with 0 sanity was in prison about 10 minutes and Banshe didn't attacked him but when i with 45-55 sanity (i don't remember) came into a prison he attacked me twice so the only way to change the target is wait till the target die. (Sorry for my English i am not good at it)
I wish there was a clear way of telling who the target is. by this assessment we'd need to rotate the team in & out of the area one at a time in order to accurately find the target
the banshee likes to be close to its target. thats how you can tell who the victim is. but thats still not enough to guess the ghost type accurately since any ghost can follow a single player around for a while. players who aggro the ghost by calling its name or cursing a lot are more likely to be followed by any ghost type.
When me and the squad first visited Asylum on Amateur, we did the "4 people split into 2" strategy, and faced a Banshee (who we didn't get right anyways) me and my partner saw the ghost do a small activity, but later like 6 minutes, the banshee started hunting every minute even though we still had about 60% sanity each. So we died together in the next 10 minutes. We looked at the alive players who neither of which saw us die nor many ghost events, they visited the truck with 20% Sanity left, the banshee still didn't hunt nor be active when they got back for another shot. They then left alive when at 10%.
Don't forget that banshees ignore/don't attack players that are not its selected favourite targets, even during hunts. There were few games that we knew that it was a banshee, and also knew who was the main target...We just walked through that banshee like nothing during hunts, while the target player lures it away.
I'd personally had several expiriences where I was the banshee's target, and by leaving the house, it simply wouldn't hunt for long periods of time (Around 10 minutes the first time), despite all the other players being a 0 sanity. The moment I come through the door, boom, hunt. I've never really witnessed a Banshee change targets simply because they left the building.
I played the prison map for the first time with some friends, and we went in to constant hunting and no idea where the ghost was coming from. I left to check the cameras from the truck and for about ten minutes, nothing unusual happened. I went back in, and a minute later, a hunt started again. Followed me down a hall and I ducked into the library to dodge it, thankfully the hunt ended then. But holy cow, I was terrified! TL;DR: Banshees are scary when you’re the target. :)

hey man! i've played phasmophobia for a while and the game definitely becomes a lot less scary. especially with friends, the game stays exciting as you can mess with the ghost are there aren't many jumpscares. have fun and keep playing the game, you'll definitely get used to it and not be as scared
I literally had a fear of demons after I watched my friend play it, then afterwards I started playing it a lot because it’s just so much fun and now I find ghosts really interesting.
certainly, but it also doesn't really just become boring (not in my case at least). im significantly braver but still get scared a lot. best way i'd put it is over time you stop screaming and start getting tense
had a banshee in prison go from cell block b all the way to me in the infirmary in a hunt, first hunt of the match and i was in infirmary when the hunt started but thankfully didnt kill me in time.
I don't think it changes target if its quarry leaves the building, I've had games where we found out it was a banshee and wanted to do the side missions. and we knew who the quarry was, so in our three-man, I and the quarry stayed in the van and my friend went into the house. he was in there for a while and activity spiked to ten a few times but never hunted
So the target is mostly the person who entered earliest then? (choosen from the people who are inside ofc) Since for a while that 1 person is the only one inside, so the Banshee can't choose anyone else. According to these rules It would only be random if there were at least 3 people inside and the target dies/leaves. But even then you could all just leae and choose a bait and send them in first.
NO its true. Ive tested this with two of my friends. Since the ghost appeared to my friend (assumed target) so far from the ghost room, I just assume its a banshee (we already got freezing and fingerprints). Me and my other friend stayed in the ghost room until our sanity is 0%, and the assumed target is outside the building, the Banshee didnt hunt at all. Then we asked the assumed target to come inside the building, and it immediately start the HUNT the moment the target stepped inside the door. The banshee just ignored me so it is ez picture objective haha.
I heard somewhere that during the hunt banshee has like a track on you and he will go for you no matter where you are, like you cant hide from him and all you have to do is run. Is that true?
Im not sure about that, however, I was playing with a random a few days ago, and we had a banshee in highschool. We took a while to find it and our sanity was already low, it had hunted a few times already but we survived. I got out to see the cameras and he was after me, however the banshee started hunting. I got into the truck and watched the cameras, he hid in the library downstairs, the banshee room was all the way upstairs, I saw it through the cameras get out of its room, go downstairs, directly where the dude was hiding, like it knew he was hiding there. I've never seen any other ghost do that
@@andreasul2608 actually I was playing today, had a banshee on Tanglewood street house, hid in the closet of the front room of the house and didn't went for me, maybe it was lost and didn't actually checked that room if I do remember so idk, still I he went in there I believe I was dead
Has anyone been getting bugged crucifixes lately? I had 2 banshees the other day that spawned hunts directly ON the crucifix instead of being warded off by them lol
The choosing a new target thing isn't true as far as I am aware. We tested this in a playgroup of mine. I was the target and I left the building and the banshee didn't hunt for over 30 minutes even when everyone else's sanity was at 0%. I went back in the building and it hunted immediately and chased after me again.
Can't you make longer videos about all the ghost types? These feel so short, and like information is not given/said 100% of the time. For example, at the start just saying "The Banshee." wasting precious time. They don't need to be exactly 1 minute long... Am I the only one who feels this way? Gives me a bit of time anxiety.
Yeah the banshee can attack at any time after the set up phase using its power. SO theoretically you could be attacked within the first 30 seconds of entering the house. On the plus side, introducing WR speedrun for fastest deaths. lol.
I played a game on pro farmhouse once, I walked into the building, went up the stairs, first room on the right, pulled out the spirit box, and it started hunting. This all happened in like 35-40 seconds, I was terrified
I have a question. About fingerprints. Would "footprints" be considered "fingerprints"? Or is it different. Cuz Once I got Freezing, book, and FOOTprint. Wrong ghost. What's up?
The banshee doesn't change its prey when they leave the building. I've tested it with a group of friends, no matter the order we left/entered the building or try to trigger a hunt with only one player standing at the door, it was always the same guy that triggered the hunt even if i was standing inside for 2 minutes before he came and once the hunt started i could run around the banshee without it even minding me.
Great video man :) BUT the Banshee's ability IS a strength because it can teleport to nearby it's target and start hunting. In a farmhouse mission we'd found the ghost room in an upstairs bathroom, and I just re-entered the building and turned left into the room to go for a photo of the voodoo doll there, and the Banshee teleported in and started hunting, within seconds of me entering the building. So I walked straight into the room where it was. It didn't end well lol...
i have a huge fear of the highschool map(past school trauma) and so every time my friends wanna do the map with me i just sit in the truck on camera duty and the banshees target was me so the whole time my friends were at 0 sanity it never hunted :>
