I just posted this on my FB page. There is an individual that has been attending church, but not a member, for several years now and this is one of his concerns. I specifically shared it with him. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

We believe in a baptism of the dead. Those who didn't get the chance to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ in this life will have that chance in the afterlife.

If you read the new testament you find many scriptures that say Christ taught in the temple. What are those things that were taught? We don't know all of those things... but I imagine they are things similar to what occurs in temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They most likely were not written because they were sacred... just as we hold the teachings and symbols in the temple to be incredibly sacred. Or maybe those things were just lost. The book of Revelations speaks of many people in the last days doing sacred work in the temple of the Lord... latter day temples.

@@Namelesss2005 It is based on the doctrine of Christ, the very gospel of Him who established it. He taught when he was here, he taught the dead when before he was resurrected. Read 1 Peter ch 3 and 4, clearly he left and taught the dead so that they could accept the gospel as we can now.

You telling me that a person who believes in Jesus Christ and who is Catholic can’t believe in the same as Mormon does how does that make sense it blows my mind we different religions and the world leader can’t pick one that we all share

Many people in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints use the scripture 1 Corinthians 15:29 to justify baptism for the dead. This scripture is not clear on its own and it is through revelation that the full understanding was established. However, if you look at the scriptures related to the Salvation of the dead, then we see that it is a very part of the Atonement of Christ, that the dead would be saved. Isaiah foresaw it, Christ taught it, and His Apostles echoed this doctrine. 1 Peter chapters 3 and 4, among many other scriptures, establish salvation for the dead as a Biblical and Christian doctrine. It is only interesting to me that so called "christians" have forgotten their dead, the house of Israel, or the fact that Christ promised to gather Israel in the last Days. What's worse, is that they would reject the Atonement of a very loving Savior, to those who died without knowing His name. They do not understand "that they without us should not be made perfect." (Hebrews 11:40)
@monocuco818
@monocuco818 3 года назад
@Heather Gillette You should reread 1 Peter chapter 3 and 4. He clearly defines salvation for the dead. Not those who are spiritually dead only, but those who have died since the foundations of the world, without the knowledge of the Savior or having the chance to hear and accept His gospel. Read the whole chapters, the context is there, the principle is there. It is a Christlike teaching, and those who reject that the Lord would not try to save ALL of His children... well, they do not know the Lord, or His Father.
@monocuco818
@monocuco818 3 года назад
@Heather Gillette Knowing that "he is God" through "creation" does not mean that you will know who Christ is. The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us that we have to know who Christ is in order to believe in Him, have faith and be baptized in his name through repentance. Without these things He cannot save you. But what about the billions of people who have lived without hearing of Christ? It is asinine to believe that He would condemn them without the opportunity. Just think, you have the Bible and have great opportunity to know of Him... but what about those who don't have access to the Bible, or didn't in the past? Christ will not condemn them. In fact, in 1 Peter 3 and 4 it teaches that He taught them, He shared the gospel with them. If you read the wording it is very specific. Those that are physically dead, would hear the the gospel... and those who believed would live, or have everlasting life, just as those who accept in this life. It makes perfect sense that He would provide them with this opportunity.

I just wanted to know what the cows were about. Mormons aren’t Christian…I’m so confused, why would they be so stoked about Israel? I’m Jewish and we don’t care about the 12 tribes that much. I should add, I’ve known some extremely kind and earnest Mormons. I don’t get the hate. I understand why people leave a church they often find oppressive and intolerant of human nature but it’s so different from how I grew up I can’t not should I judge. I’m in a Mormon heavy area and I’ve always found myself having fun with Mormons. We acknowledge how different we are but they’re usually respectful, outgoing, generous, kind, and very family oriented which I appreciate. You could say we are as different as they come but I really think it’s all little details and humans, at our core are all the same. We want the same things, we hold the same things sacred and I’ll never ever mind someone who’s got faith so long as they can respect mine as I do theirs. Easy peasy 🙏🏻

This is a false message be not deceived.. no where in the Bible it states that you will have a chance to receive Jesus after you die on this earth. That’s why he said “We Believe.” Bible says creation testifies that there is a creator so that people are without an excuse. We will all be held accountable, to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord.

The Savior Jesus Christ himself said that the dead will hear his voice and those that will hear will live Remember that in the 2peter it's written that the Gospel is preached to those who are dead and in 1corithians 15 it's written that Baptist on behalf of the deceased did happen I truly know without a shadow of doubt in my mind and heart that God lives and loves me perfectly. There are multiple scriptures that speak of Christ preaching the gospel to the dead and 1 that references baptisms for the dead. Baptisms for the dead is one of the most incredible expressions of love that God has ever shown. It extends Christ's Atonement to ALL of those who never had the chance to learn of the Savior while on the Earth and repent of their sins. It is absolutely incredible and true doctrine... taught of in the Bible and restored through the prophet Joseph Smith.

@@monocuco818 Very well said! But tbh I do not believe Joseph Smith was a prophet... I belive he figured something out and possibly could have had some prophethood qualities, but the fact prophethood is passed down is not true... I feel the spirit here i really do in the temple, at church, even while helping others when needed. Thats all that matters what you feel.

The message is beautiful, but it’s wrong. People who heard the message of Jesus Christ aren’t saved. But people who haven’t and died, I believe at the end of times, God would have a plan with them, we don’t know, so baptism for the dead is not good.
@messagesofChrist
@messagesofChrist 4 года назад
The scriptures seem to be pretty clear to me. All must be baptized. So if God is a merciful God, I would see no reason to provide something like this. You mention you believe there will be a way, yet you don't say how. You say God will have a plan for them, yet say this is not it, yet share no other options.
@monocuco818

There are many scriptures that establish this as a doctrine. Christ Himself went to the spirit world and preached the gospel to the dead. Read 1 Peter chapters 3 and 4 as well as Christ's death and resurrection. Very Biblical and God's doctrine.

You have to remember that the scriptures are the truth. So unless what you say, is written in stone in his Word; it isn't true. I'd be happy to hear scripture that testifies to what you say. What I do know is that Christ of Nazareth is the Bronze Snake Moses put up on a piece of wood. That all who look upon it will not perish from the vipers. Symbolically meaning, we must become baptized, become dead to sin, follow Christs teachings, and never take our eyes off of our Messiah. Otherwise, we will suffer the second death.

I am Mormon, but this is not an official Mormon channel. Just a channel where I put some of my thoughts and things I have learned. I enjoy ancient and modern temples, so I do include several temple videos. I try to make most of my videos for a general audience, but of course my temple videos are geared more towards an audience that is either Mormon, or wanting to learn about Mormon temples.

@@messagesofChrist I must ask...are you still involved with Mormonism? I ask, because I ran into s/one on the net who denounced the church and it's teachings, but he forgot to take a few videos down until I asked a few questions of him. The ritual is nowhere to be found in the bible, but this takes 2nd seat even to *PRIMARY* doctrines such as salvation & just who Jesus is.

@@Kman. Yup, I'm still a Mormon. You can take a look at my channel content and see what I focus on as my PRIMARY message and doctrine and I think you will see this is very much secondary. Teaching of Christ is the primary reason for this channel. Period.
