@@ThatGoodLifeCC Turbo didn't even battle him in that scene, stop the cap'in. And he went at Ozone, never looked Turbo's way, he didn't want that smoke lol.

@@carljacobson7156 james alexander maybe but you can't qualify THAT as the same "Band" kicking ass...by that time the Bar-kays were a totally different group of people...
The energy on that stage, on the dance floor, race was not a factor, but having fun together, if only we can live like that in real life, it would be so beautiful
@@jacknjill3000 people allow their selves to be divided, we hate each other more than ever now, and the worse is yet to come, not even music can keep us together. Movies cannot do what music do, one song like we are the world can bring the world at their knees, no movies can do that
I can tell you why. The artist we had in the 1980's were all ADULTS with respect in music. No cursing at all. Today's music are young people with cursing and no respect to listeners. I'm 56 yrs old and believe me it's true.
I saw the Unsung episode on them. Heartbreaking at the beginning is an understatement...They also talked about how other artists would study them as well to create their own image in the 70s-80s...And they are still doing music. Love the song Grown Folks (2012)
I'm a Texas cowboy and I first heard this in a night club when I visited my cousin in Minneapolis back in 84. I loved dancing to this and I didn't care if I didn't have the moves or if people laughed at me. I love dance music more than I love country music !
You gotta' love this band , I mean they covered the 60's , 70's 80's and the 90's flawlessly with HITS AND STILL LOOK GOOD. .. I only wish my BAND COULD HAVE DONE IT, here's to the mighty BAR- KAYS !!!✌❤👊🎼🎸
Standout year 1984.14 years old.Playing with my dog after school in the backyard.Riding my bike pretending to be Knight Rider.Dukes of Hazard,Fame,Magnum PI,Solid Gold on tv at night. The year of The Karate Kid & Police Academy.Madonna,Springsteen,Michael Jackson,Rockwell,Prince,Howard Jones,Duran Duran on the radio alongside funky jams like this one.I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Amazing group.Classic track. Not ever forgotten by many including myself.Yes I do remember the original group, and the members that died in a plain crash. All but one.Who didn't make it to the plain on time.I've sat back & have completely enjoyed all there songs through 5 decades. With each incarnation of the group over the years, adding so much to the Bar-Kays legacy.PS:Larry,Enjoy your retirement.Hell you've earned it.Much blessings to you & your family.Take care knowing the Bar-Kays will go on.Just say I'm a True fan.Well leave it at that.
Barkays are legends with so many hits. They deserve so so much more credit and shouldn’t have to perform anymore. I’m pretty sure they got burned with masters like everyone else back in these times.
I just really love this song from back in the day which brings me back to my teenage years!.. This groove has that same flavor and beat as Midnight Star's "No Parking on The Dancefloor"
This is fantastic in every way. It is like everything about 80s style distilled into a single video. From the music, to the fashion, to the sets and lighting. It's amazing.
Aaaaaaay THOSE were the days! If u weren't there man did y'all miss out!! Now my GRAND BABIES jam this talking bout oldies (long as grandma outta ear range😂)
A stone classic! The youngsters today don't know what good music is and what a great time it was to be alive in the '80's. Lipps Inc., Parliament, The Gap Band, Rick James, James Brown, Con Funk Shun, The Brothers Johnson, Billy Preston, Kool & The Gang, Commodores, Ohio Players, Isley Brothers!!
What a list and many more these guys been goin since the 60s my folks were kids it's crazy. They could merge the style thru the time part of the foundation that also died in a Plane Crash killing Ottis Reading that his song Dock gets played alot and huge hit
Look kiddies..no phones, no autotune...just talented people singing, dancing and having a great time..glad I was there to experience the best times ever! :)
When I was eleven, my dance class did a routine to this song for our annual recital, complete with breakdancing moves by a select few of us. Man, this takes me back to those days, but only in my mind. At my age, I'd probably wind up in traction if I tried to bust a move now! Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
I love the Barkays I especially love Freak Show. The Barkays are one of the baddest funkiest soul bands of our generation I am a 1970's baby and I was a teenager when this song Freak Show came out. I am still a Barkay's fan.
I remember growing up in the 80s when breakdancing came on the scene. I was only a little nipper then. They were the days man, serious. People used to have breakdancing competitions on lino on a field. The summers were beautiful, long and hot. I wish i was young again. Good old days ( SIGH ).
This song always killed me as a kid, because I couldn't help but get a kick out of the lead singer just shaking his hair all over his face. I never knew the name of the group. I knew they were a different group had a similar sound to groups like Midnight Star. I find out that the Bar-Kays were an older group that my mom of course knew about though I never had the chance of asking. All I could think of at that time, is that whatever the popular "sound" was of the 80's dance era many copied it. But as an old friend said, if you're gonna copy someone then you copy the best. Which is why this era of the music industry was one of the best times for music. Mainly, because the parents of that time were able to enjoy some of the newer pieces before they handed the torch their children.
what an amazing history; the original bar kays were the band for the great otis reading and unfortunately most of them passed away in the tragic plane wreck. what a fun time and a fun group. party and dancing.
They had a pool hall bar in our neighborhood back in the early 1980's with all the top Bar Kay songs on the juke box it, they would get played non stop. Great band with an excellent rhythm. My favorite song is Proposition, proposition, I just rebought the CD so I can listen to it in my '95 Cadillac with the Bose sound system, Neighbors were asking what band that is, they want to get the CD
My boyfriend jimping in his chair for a couple seconds. 😂😂😂😂😂 If I heard this song before, I forgotten it. I do remember in HS in early half of '90s borrowing the two Bar-Kays 45s my father had and one had Do It, and the other one was Feels Like I'm Falling In Love. Had not heard those in forever. ( or maybe it was on same 45, I forgot ). Decided to explore more of their music. That what brought me to here.
I got to ROADIE and meet and hang with the best funk band in 1983 on the Dangerous tour, all the guys were friendly and took time to talk with me after the sound. It was especially great to meet Larry Dodson and James Alexander, the only original left that didn't die in the Crash with Otis Redding. He was in Memphis Tennessee in the studio, got a autographed pair of Michael (Buck Board) Smiths autographed sticks. And being a drummer now for 41 years and can play all of their songs it means a lot.
My beautiful group Legendary Barkays ho yeahhhhhhhhh we love you for ever and ever .....you are fantastic and so funkyyyyyyyyy.....thank you for all you gived to the world.........God bless all of yoursssssssssss
So back in 2008 i was at a club dancing, and the music fades and they play this song. I swear i fucken lost my shit!! I dont think ive ever gone that hard at a club.
Dance freaks move around You know, get down Dance freaks move around You know, get down It's like a freakshow, yeah, huh Freakshow, baby, baby On the dance floor There's a freakshow Freakshow, baby, baby On the dance floor It's just a freakshow People, they come From miles around To see the freaks on The floor throwing down They're wearin' miniskirts Huh, and camisoles Tight leather pants Or nothing at all You'll be dancing One on one or two on two They're dancing three on one 'Cause there ain't no rules Face to face And cheek to cheek They're dancing on the floor For all to see Freakshow, baby, baby On the dance floor There's a freakshow When you're out on the floor Freakshow, baby, baby On the dance floor It's just a freakshow Everywhere I go, yeah Freakshow, baby, baby On…
Just heard this song FREAK SHOW is the name of it. Good skating rink song MIDNIGHT STAR is a good group of singer. OPERATOR is my favorite from MIDNIGHT STAR
This is da bomb right here a feel good jam that reminds us of when music was soulful, happy and made you want to get up and dance like a FREAK 👍🙌👏🏻❤️⭐️
How in the hell have I never seen this video? I grew up in the 80's w/ MTV & watching 'Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo' on HBO@ my g-ma's. And I was seriously obsessed. I just bought 'Breakin', so feeling all nostalgic. Didn't know "Ozone" passed away. Breaks my heart 💔. My dusty ass is breakin' out some moves for the man!
