Ryse: Son of Rome is a 2013 action-adventure video game developed by Crytek and published by Microsoft Studios. Set in an alternate version of Ancient Rome, Ryse follows the life of the Roman centurion Marius Titus as he becomes one of the leaders in the Roman Legion. Gameplay revolves around Marius using his sword to strike enemies and shield to deflect attacks. Execution sequences are featured in the game, which are quick-time events that serve as an extension to combat. The game features a cooperative multiplayer mode, which tasks players to fight against waves of enemies in maps that are changing dynamically.

The game was out in 2013. Roughly eleven years ago! Still looks better than most modern lame out loud "titles", and much more enjoyable to an eye. Really, really good job from the creators. Thank you for bringing it up again. Keep it up.

I wish a real kolossal videogame with great story set in ancient Rome.. something a bit beyond just hack and slash. This would be awesome. Imagine setting a complete story around the battle of teutoburg in a crazy historically accurate RPG. That would be a dream. I take also this game, everything in ancient Rome is just amazing to me.

Why viking again ? I mean a Roman era empire open world would be much better and a first , since we already have AC Valhala and dozens of other medieval viking games and I think everyone is fed up since 2018 with the viking entertaining games and tv series.

@@MathieuGuay-h7t again? It has never been a game line that, AC Valhalla is kinda there, but I mean MUCH bigger, Skyrim x 10. It woulda been cool with the Roman era ofc, but as a Norwegian, i would rather play Viking stuff;D

@@alphahuskyy I kinda agree with you but with unreal engine 5 , I would like to play as a career centurion who rank up the Roman Army ladder and walk throught the great roman cities, temples, aqueduc, coliseum etc... Im a viking enthusiast too but we never actually got a Roman Republic/Empire game except Rise and its pretty linear and repetitive. There is AC Odyssey but the AC universe never really attracted me , its too childish and clunky for me althought the graphics are nice.

The game didn't sell well The fact that the game was developed with Crytek Engine, Only the high end PC's could run this game like CRYSIS. Now we can get the game for 3$ in Steam and since the PC's now ate better we see many vids of RYSE. Unfortunately I don't think there will be a second part!!

To the vast history that The Roman Empire had, it's a shame no huge studio like Rockstar, Santa Monica, CD Project Red or Naughty Dogs never took a try to exploit this area of history with massive Open World game. Ryse: Son of Rome is something special

This were such good games. Now we get cartoonish games that you can jump in the air do a combo and kill 3000 soldiers for free. If its not that then there are big monsters. Games this days suck so badly. New generation games are bad and so lazy. But sometimes out of 500 games we get maybe 3 or 4 cool games like GTA5, Ghost of Tsushima etc.

It was meant to be a mythological first person game against monsters and armies. I'm sad for this turn even this product is a little cinematographic and history action aimed.
