I lived in a Penthouse in Gilbert House for a while in the 1980's and wow, what a beautiful place it was to live - over looking the fountains and the terrace of the Arts Centre/Concert Hall. the view from the roof was incredible, and the wonderful huge arched window made it such a light and airy home too.
I think it is unusual. Many estates seemed to be built for reasons anything other than people and tigers communities . What I like about this estate ever since I first saw it in the 70’s is that it looks as though it was built for people to live in and not just as a warehouse for Homo sapiens.
Gorgeous architecture, some nice ideas in the renovation but running the risk of making it look like a generic expensive hotel room. It is important not to lose that wood + concrete charm in a sea of farrow and ball white walls.
I used to work in the Barbican 1980/82....great place, there is a pub called the Shakespeare , it was just across the road from where I worked,it was our daily haunt.!!! Loved it but I had to leave cause I immigrated to Cyprus.!!! Brought back pleasant memories for me..
A YMCA hostel being turned into some luxury apartments for the absurdly rich and none of those participating seem too concerned about another obscene act of social cleansing. Is there any social housing included in this project?
All of the camera footage in this video looks absolutely dreadful. No blacks, no whites, no contrast. It looks like someone shot this in LOG without knowing they have to colour grade it. WTF
