ABOUT THE BARCLAY
Inspired by Portland’s classic mid-century architecture, The Barclay, re-imagines the best in mid-century modern design for the way we live today. With hints of Yeon and Rummer, the clean, contemporary and angular one-level living is softened by the extensive use of organic and natural materials and textures. A transparency between house and nature is achieved through a central, open-aired atrium providing light from the inside-out. Sophisticated landscaping details, including a water feature that will create a year-round soothing retreat for the senses.
Special attention has been paid to the transition between indoors and outdoors with retractable walls, expansive windows, and skylights. The home and its fully accessible, universal design principles are graciously imagined through custom features like the elegantly designed front entry.
Large format porcelain tile flooring from entry through great room and kitchen creates an artful, watercolor effect anchoring the color palette and surface finishings. Stone and wood elements throughout, including a stunning floor-to-ceiling fireplace surround in the great room bring a natural feel to modern, contemporary lines.
Mid-century inspiration continues with a re-visit to a pullman-style kitchen. In this case updated with a glass bar created by local artisans which floats onto a stone countertop. A decorative back splash follows the modern, angular trend. This kitchen functions for the busy entertainer with flexible work and presentation areas, maximizing the great room space and flowing seamlessly to an outdoor entertainment area at the back. A casual fire pit is cleverly incorporated into the covered area for multi-season use.
The master suite is accented with soft lighting and includes a seating area equipped with personal charging stations perfect for a quiet escape. The master bath invites with heated floors, a free-standing tub and a double shower with a dual exit to the walk-in closet and utility area. The vanity glows in the light of locally sourced tile walls reflecting angular shapes in on-trend colors of gold, grey and cream.
