You're so observant and motivated. I've watched all your videos, and what I see is someone aware and mentally organized. You must have been a really excellent police officer too, people like you are special. The world used to have more before the internet wiped out mainstreet that sponsored the little leagues, people that gave great advice to others. That it can be shared through RU-vid may be a saving grace of humanity. Putting you on a pedestal? Na, just putting the light on the lamp stand. 😀 Recognizing the good is almost as important as doing it, sure I mean that sounds nice, haha. Now i can have some refreshing iced tea.
I've been watching the build on Ryan's Channel so it was cool to see it from your perspective as well. Quick question....why nothing under the Tyvek on the exterior like plywood?
Great question…with traditional stick build the house gets its shear strength from the plywood sheathing, plus it’s needed for nailing the exterior siding. A post frame building, if using metal, gets its shear strength from the metal siding that’s used. We nail our metal siding about every 2’ which is why you’ll see an exterior girt every 2’.
I really like adding the footer inside the home. On my home if this would have been done throughout the home I would not see the issues I do with settling. Cheap insurance in the long run for sure!!!
