I like how the Joker figured out the Riddler almost instantly, but actively made his answer inflammatory so that Batman wouldn’t take him seriously. But he was right. He was 100% right.
Are you saved? Where will you go when you die? Heaven or hell? The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. Although God's creation was created perfect, having no death, sickness and disease, the creation became corrupted through Adam and Eve in them disobeying God. In this rebellion the creation became fallen through the curse of sin and mankind became separated from God. This world is fallen, but God offers reconciliation to him through his provision at the cross. Ultimately God will restore his creation to perfection when he returns but those that reject his offer of redemption will remain condemned by their sins and go to hell. John 1:1,14 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us, 1 John 3:8 KJV He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT.
Love how when it's from Batman's view of the Joker it's blurry, like how his profile of the joker is foggy - he hasn't quite profiled him fully. In contrast, from Joker's perspective, he's got Batman all figured out, hence it's clear.
Don't stand too close to the glass, Batman. Also, the fact that they blurred out the joker's face was brilliant. It got the audience begging to see what this Joker looks like, yet at the same getting a glimpse at his features is also so terrorfying.
@@hansoharrigen6958 "A sequel bait, cliffhanger, a taste of things to come." Call it whatever you want, but I believe it was a creative way of revealing a villain, which they did perfectly. Yes, many films have done this before, but not all films that do this type of reveal get audience to watch the next film. This one I think it did.
@@KW_94_25 I'm talking about the beginning of it. He was mostly blurred out until the very end. That's why I was saying that when you finally get a glimpse at his features it's absolutely terrifying.
Pattison was actually very good at playing a young Batman still getting to terms with his chosen path. Slightly insecure under his costume, but still deadly serious enough to scare people. Like a young knight who just got his armour. This joker is also terrifying. Hope they make a continuation on this.
Same, I’ve been waiting for a long time for a real dark Batman movie because that’s Batman, and Gotham being portrayed as a real shithole that breeds these villains is amazing and so accurate.
@@N64-p7b If you’re not into realism in the Batman franchise, perhaps Reeves’s Batman is just as good as Burton’s Batman if you compare it to the Dark Knight trilogy.
i agree for the most part. On the other hand, idk which comic it was but in one of the new ones joker cuts his face off and wears it as a mask, or something like that. I think that one goes too far
I completely disagree. Realism is amazing the superhero genre! Especially when it comes to Batman, whose whole idea is that he is just human like the rest of us!
I like how it heavily implies Batman is afraid of his influence. He’s afraid of these villains rising and killing via his influence. It emphasizes the choice he has to make and it builds character because every villain in Gotham does what they do because it’s personal. It’s all because of Batman and I like how they kinda showed that here
Joker, Riddler and Victor Zsasz are all villains because of Batman. But Bane, Ra’s Al Ghul and Croc aren’t. And there are middle terms like Pyg, who was already a villain, but became worse after knowing Batman. *I mean in the comics*
It reminded me of that one line from the dark knight returns movie where the doctor said batman creates his own villains. but yeah, just as the first guy here said earlier, some of them are already a villain before batman
You guys remember this more of a real horror vision. The Joker fell into acid. What did you expect him to look like? I always thought it was convenient he didn’t look more messed up considering what happened to him. I’m ready for an ugly disturbing Joker.
Heath Ledger set the bar of joker so high that people expect a lot from every joker ever since but I think Barry will be a great Joker. His joker has less make up but is more creepy & realistic.
@@googlelord1678 do everyone cut hair in an asylum? its not a prison joker is insane which is why he's there with riddler, aside from that his hair color has changed ever since he got into the acid he has been in arkham for a long time so it does make sense that he has grown his hair.
I wish this was left in the film. LOVED this Joker. That actor is amazing. I liked how he was clearly insane but then had that moment of clarity/normalcy when he said "You know exactly how he thinks. Have you read this file" and closed the file. It just seemed so sharp, not crazy, grounded. Then he went back to being psycho.
@@TheFirstCurse1I mean, yeah it kinda does lmao. He’s his most important villain, a direct foil to batman. It would be doing a disservice to tell the story of Batman without including his most important rival, the one who’s story is so closely woven with his own.
@@TheFirstCurse1problem here is they put him in at the end so this scene absolutely makes sense with the film. It not only gives an introduction to Joker in this series it gives us a first look at the dynamic between him and Batman as well as foreshadows who Riddler is.
This was a dumb choice in my opinion. Matt Reeves stated in interviews that Joker was driven to madness due to the constant abuse because of his abnormal appearance due to his skin condition. Meaning the Joker is the result of bullying and in essence a victim. instead of an unexplainable agent of chaos with no true rhyme or reason for what he does which is everything that the character represents.
@@KingofChicago17 bro what joker has always had a reason what are u talking ab his whole thing is literally "One bad day can make you crazy" It's literally what joker and batman's relationship is about. Don't believe me? Jason Todd, Injustice, The killing joke, his whole thing is breaking people around batman and pinning it on him. Batman needs to defeat him by showing him there is no "game" and it's his own delusional fantasy of what reality is, with the true reality being that HE is the one that's crazy because of one bad day. Its how they parallel each other. That's the "game" they play. Joker is not just doing random shit for no reason unless u wanna talk about Leto😭
@@sfphoenix2903 wow you really hung onto that line huh? Like I said making the Joker be the end result of bullying is fucking stupid and so are you for defending it.
This Hannibal Lecter kind of take on the Joker is very interesting and refreshingly new. I actually hope he never leaves Arkham and fights Batman in the traditional way that we’ve seen a million times before…. Having him be this emergency resource for Batman as a means of thinking outside the box in order to solve crimes is actually a brilliant idea.
It's cool to hear "It's almost our anniversary isn't it?" "whether he loves or hates you." "U think I get off to this stuff?" "Don't you?" Because it's so seldom explored how most villains of Gotham are just down bad for Batman. It's so fucking personal. Everything they do.
I feel like in this movie, most Gotham citizens and officers don't like Batman, but those super psycho in Arkham Asylum are really fascinated by him... maybe they can feel Batman is one of them.....
Whats terrifying is that he was right. He was 100% correct in every assessment he made. About the Riddler and about the bat That's what makes this a good joker. this version can read the bat inside and out like every good joker should
I LOVE this sadistic mentally disturbed psychopath take. It's so fresh and yet also feels like its going back to the character's roots. I hope we get more of him.
I love how with the new movie, the characters aren't trying to top previous characters, they feel new/different from the others. That's why I don't really compare this batman to others they are all slightly different in their styles or stories but this one is especially different as he just starting out changes alot of himself. Riddler is also very different from past riddlers as he is more terrifying on a psychological level. I got goosebumps from him during some parts.
Ever since Heath Ledger they've been doing this "darker, more serious take on Joker". It's overdone and each have been an inferior version of the Dark Knight joker.
@@Krukmeister Because the Joker actually began as dark murdering serious character. It wasn't until the 60's that they changed his character into a comedic criminal. Then we got Cesar Romero and later Jack Nicholsons versions. Honestly, the only darker serious Joker we got canon wise was Ledgers. I ignore Jared Leto joker ever existed, and Joaquin Phoenix was more about mental health then about Batman lore.
I love him I just hope they go into how Joker got to look the way he does because it looks like he’s already be beaten up by Batman judging by the hair and blood unless joker did that to him self which is also a possibility, another possibility is the acid did that to him when he fell into it tho that doesn’t explain the dried blood and wet blood unless this man doesn’t shower and picks at his wounds which again seeing as joker is Insane is a very high possibility
An amazing scene that I’m so glad was cut. It would’ve distracted us from Paul Dano’s Riddler, but I genuinely can’t wait to see what they do with this Joker. It has a lot of potential
I think he'll appear in penguin series but they should stick to having him as a cameo for now like hannibal lecter version i like this joker than letos joker in SS and ZSJL no offense to mr leto barry is good as joker next to ledger, pheonix and nicholson
Also, he just solves everything in a handful of minutes, haha. It definitely steals the thunder of the final confrontation between Batman and the Riddler.
This is great. In real life, the riddler would be “a serial killer”. Joker would be “a organized crime figure”. Bane would be a “mercenary out for blood”. Penguin would be an “criminal entrepreneur”. Fire fly would be “an arsonist”, ect
This is definitely the most real world mental patient joker proformance I've seen, I'd genuinely be afraid to be in the room with this version. I can't wait too see what they do with him in the future
Joaquim Phenix was the best Joker IMO because he portrayed some spectrum of schizophrenia. I think the Joker, to be "realist" with the clown and the laugh etc, has to be full delusional and paranoid, and impulsive.
While this scene is amazing I think it's obvious why it was cut. For starters it's the Joker. The moment you introduce him everyone else gets sidelined no matter how little screen time he has. But also because in this scene the Joker completely deconstructions the Riddler's character in five minutes which takes all the mystique and interest in the Riddler away.
When i first saw the movie i was quite pleased, since it's well crafted and stuff... But overnight my estimation towards it plummeted when i realized it was Seven ala Batman, same as The Joker being a Taxi Driver rip off. Not bad, since i'm grateful towards Joaquín Phoenix and this riddler, but they fell short once noticing the tremendous performances and story development made by Kevin Spacey (John doe on Seven) and De Niro (Travis Bickle on Taxi Driver). It's kinda sad this movies can't give a more singular rendition, even considering the comics story development standards, but now portraying this Joker kinda Lecter, you kidding me... Your comment s spot on bro. The movie s not trash but it isnt that competitive for the trained eye. We ll see if it shut our mouths in the future with sequels and stuff. Bottom line, new queen with an old dress doesnt seem a viable gimmick nowadays. Granted the creators are backed by the fans of the comics and previous movies. Good, enjoyable but not groundbreaking the morning after. Hope they find their edge and create a game changer next time.
@@nathaninostroza7655 The Joker - Taxi Driver comparison isnt that strong he motivated very different, the events of the movie are more interesting and grand in scale. IDK Taxi Driver to me is 90% a weirdo driving around going "I'm going to clean these streets" then shoots a gun a two guys, which probably was a delusion.
Genuinely love that this Joker isn't a rip off of Ledgers incarnation. He is deranged overtly more scarred than Ledger and shows hair loss that looks torn off by his own hands I want more of this because of the movie we got genuinely am excited for more of the reeverse
Honestly, I see this version more of an homage to Ledgers Joker more than anything. I like to think that this is what became of the character after "Dark Knight".
Just when I think I've seen every way the Joker can be played, they figure out a new take. That's why people love this character so much, he's so malleable and can be reinvented more than any other comic book character
@@kianhughes6309 this is after he was caught by batman? This Batman is already like 2 years into what he is doing. Heath's Joker was younger than this one
All of the villains in this version are supposed to be more realistic. Penguin is just a thug, catwoman just a thief, riddler just a loner, and Joker a psychopath. I think the realism approach is a much-needed breath if fresh air. He fell into acid, his face is going to look disfigured. I'm happy to see where they go with this.

@@justinjacquez9321 Reeves gave an interview where he talked about this joker with a birth defect, deforming his face making his muscles unable to stop smiling.
His demeanor is pretty much inspired by Heath. But I'll be honest, even with Ledger's iconic performance, I never personally have had a Joker who is truly terrifying in a disturbing form. Barry here has potential to give me that. Definitely giving him a chance
As fun as a scene as this was, and as eerily realistic a take this is on Joker, I'm glad they deleted it. Joker's comments made it seem a little too much telling rather than showing, and keeping him hidden allows for more mystery.
That is absolutely the case. They also were already juggling a ton of subplots and characters, so bringing Joker in the middle of the film would have been a bit too much I think. Cameo at the end was more than enough Joker for this one.
Trueee! But this scene is so cool and so well written, I still think it's sad it was cut off. Now we know the riddlers Identity and his ambitions so of course we know everything Jokers saying is true, but maybe it wouldn't have been so obvious first time watching I dunnooo
i’m glad they did too but i don’t think it’s because they didn’t want to give joker the spotlight. i think it’s because canonically speaking , batman isn’t even introduced to the joker yet since this is only his second halloween as batman
I mean, the brief appearance of Leto's Joker in the Snydercut shows that Leto can play the fuck out of the Joker. I mean, Leto sucks as a person but dude has put on some great performances in movies throughout his career. The Joker we saw the original suicide squad movie wasn't butchered by Leto but by DC itself as they basically had the entire movie rewritten and shot. They wanted to make a Marvel movie with DC Characters since Batman vs Superman didn't live up to the hype.

That was the original plan for Ben Afflecks Batman trilogy. The raid inspired Batman moving up in Arkham and the joker is the 2 and 3rd story beats of the 1st 2 films setting him up as the main villain in the 3rd/final film. I still want Bens/Zack's version of Batman films.

The joker continues to impress me as Batman evolves over time. The way he is the perfect counter to Batman. The definition of a cat and mouse. He knows him inside and out, what makes him tick, and what makes him suffer. Such a great character. Everything he says is right and that makes it even more scary.
This personality, this voice, this mindset; it's awesome. This Joker gave me the feeling I had when I saw Ledger's Joker: curiosity, his mind is challenging me. I wish so much to see more of him, Keoghan nailed it

Bale wasn’t really good as Batman or Bruce. He’s a great actor but never fit the part . I’d say Val Kilmer is one of the best. He also played a straight faced thinker and had a good batman voice . Despite the campy movie he had a lot of good moments in there. Val Kilmer played batman and Bruce Wayne perfectly . I know this might have taken away from The Riddler, but tbh it's a really great scene I think should have stayed in the movie. It just highlights Batman's conflict all the more, that he's afraid of these villains arising because of his own influence. The fact this fear is put in him by the Joker is just classic. I do like the fact this joker points out how Batman doesn’t necessarily feel bad when criminals die Edit: even Gordon questions Batman at one point “you think they deserved it!?” Woah never gotten this many likes before
Yes about how they "deserved it". That was always the most compelling thing about the Joker. The fact that he was usually right. So right that it made him mad.
The thing the Joker wanted to point was Batman's perspetive towards Riddler. Think about it, you probably asked youself at some point "The Riddler is just killing criminals, why is it so bad?", before you knew his full plan and then you noticed "Oh this is why he is bad". Batman probably asked himself the same thing. And this is what makes this Joker amazing, he read Batman like a book, because he knows him, and this is good because the best Jokers in history knew something about Batman.
The relationship between Batman and the Joker is perhaps the best dynamic out of any superhero story. There is a codependency to their conflicted relationship. For the Joker, the game is everything.. and without having Batman, there is no other game worth while. For Batman’s perspective, the Joker is the only villain that remains a complete mystery. He doesn’t understand why, but there is a mutual need for each other. One of my favorite lines from TDK, “This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets and unmovable object.” The pair can’t live with each other and can’t live without each other. I thought Matt Reeves captured this incredibly well in the short interaction we got at the end of the film. Can’t wait for more
Barry Keoghan has definitely left a chilling impression on me with his brief appearance as the Joker, just with the disfigured appearance and creepy demeanor, I look forward to seeing him in future movies hopefully. He has the potential to be among the best cinematic portrayal of the character alongside Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson, and Joaquin Phoenix!
I think this is the first time I felt apart fr Mark Hamill's Joker where his laughing really pisses you off. As if it is an intentional laugh to make you angry. I was too mesmerized of Heath's Joker to be annoyed by the character, here it's like scraping your nails on a chalkboard. And I love it. That is how the joker is.
The Joker as a character always stands out. And in these conversations between him and Batman he always steals the show; in this one, however, while I do think the Joker once again stands out... I think what adds even more to the scene is Pattinson´s portrayal of Batman. Like, in other interpretations I don´t really care about Batman as much as I care about the joker, but here, I don´t know, despite him just being there, stoic, there is a sense of... fear, not sure if fear of the guy he has infront of him or as the Joker tells, afraid of his own self. I don´t know, but I did find the scene very compelling. Can´t wait for the sequel.
Right, like you get this sense that the glass is his only safe haven from the Joker, but at the same time he's still uneasy. He speaks in whispers, he keeps his eyes on him until he's just about to walk out, and that line "Don't you?". It just felt...off. I'm so hopeful for this interpretation. I don't want a Joker that's right or has a point. I don't want one with a tragic backstory (I would feel better if he didn't have one). I want one that's calculating, creepy as hell, and terrifying and if he can get at the core of Batman then this is something special.
While there was some good in previous Batman movies, the problem was always that Batman was a boring excuse of a character and was never as interesting as the villains. This is the first Batman that's actually cooler than the villains
this literally would have been the only focus and talking point for anyone and would have taken away from so much of the other great moments and aspects of the film
Not even 10 minutes and I already love this joker. He looks like what somebody would’ve if they fell in acid. This is more of a realistic joker Edit. Well I’m wrong it’s no acid
There's a couple moments there in his performance that really look like he was drawing inspiration from Heath. 4:10 - That delivery. The breathy drawn-out dialogue. The lip-smacking. Barry is definitely taking some cues from HL.
It's odd how this is even being discussed by so many people like it's some secret. Like yeah, obviously, not a single doubt, 100% guaranteed he's inspired by him lol.
@@Rudi_Gauss Yeah that too but it's not like he's a new character. The psychology of the camera work plays a huge part in making this version of the Joker so riveting. As a viewer, you're trying to see him, trying to understand what he looks like, but it's always out of focus, or he's filmed from behind. And when it finally focuses on him, you only see uncentered portions of his face, details of disfigurement magnified by the derangement the actor portrays. Great stuff.
Definitely a Silence of the Lambs feel to this, and the Joker here is very creepy: with other versions, you feel that they would justify their violence albeit through insanity, whereas this one feels like he'd do something monstrous just because he's a monster. He even looks more like a creature than other iterations. Excellent stuff.
Yeah and that's a big mistake they made Joker isn't a sociopath or psychopath because sociopaths and Psychopaths are both legally and clinically sane While Psychotic people are both legally and clinically insane and suffer from psychosis, they suffer from mental illnesses that mess with reality such as schizophrenia, dissociation disorder, depersonalization disorder, schizoid disorder And hannibal lecter is a psychopath

It’s a good thing they didn’t add this scene in the final movie. This is because the joker is more hyped than the riddler. This movie was mainly for the riddler only and having the joker takes away the suspense of the riddler.
DC needs to focus on this Batman universe BIG TIME. They could even make movies on all the villains to tie in. This and “The Penguin” are beyond brutal, grounded, disturbing, and adult suited. Beyond brilliant. Think about how they could tie in other villains. The three that I really would like to see have their own films and be tied into this universe would be Ra’s Al Ghul, Deathstroke, and the most underrated DC villain of all time… Bane. Barry Keoghan is going to be such an amazing Joker. So hyped for his inevitable appearance in The Batman II. PS: Is it just me, or does The Joker’s hair remind me of that of the late Keith Flint from The Prodigy.

As a fan of horror, batman and the joker, I favored this portrayal the most. Heath Ledger and jack Nicholsan are legendary and timeless but this Joker was absolutely terrifying here. I want more of it.
Yeah, this one genuinely made my skin crawl. I really like Heath Ledger's performance and it's perfect for the tone of Nolan's movie and definitely helped redefine the character which is why it will always stand as one of the greats--- but people act like it's untouchable and it's sacrilegious to think anyone can ever compare to it or improve on it. This would not be the case if he hadn't sadly passed, imo. These movies have a completely different tone and so it's a matter of preference and I prefer this more noir, realistic take. You can tell this performance lends from Ledger's characterisation and its all the better for it but the way this is played is just far more disturbing and sadistic to me than any other portrayal, imo. I think Barry has been able to incorporate all the parts from other performances that people use to define the character and turn it into his own complete definition in just one short clip. That's some fantastic acting
Bro i literally saw that the director said : the first two film were called just " joker " and arthur met the mini batman kid, so the real joker is another person, and the film about joker is entitled "THE JOKER" So maybe it can be
In Joker 2, The Mysterious patient in the ending was around in his late-teen years in the story, and there are rumors about the connection between The Batman and The Joker universes at some point.
I'm so glad they made the joker so ambiguous in this scene. We can kind of see how everyone else in Gotham most likely sees him. You can tell he is a psychopath with his mannerisms and even noticing his mutilation even through blurred shots. Makes him far more ominous. It's scary and dark. Perfect.
