The Joker: One of my greatest wishes is to corrupt Batman to be like me The Batman Who Laughs: You succeeded The Joker: So this is what regret feels like
That's kinda the thing, ain't it? If the Joker *were* to ever succeed in breaking Batman's sanity/moral compass, then the Joker himself would quite literally have no purpose in life.
When you're a villain so evil, so cruel, so monsterous that the Joker becomes the voice of reason and tells you not to deal with him, you put an entire Multiverse between you and that villain
The Joker: I've faced the Batman who Laughs Lex. At first I thought about going through with what my counterpart on the other Earth did, make Batman break his one rule and have him succeed me. Then I saw the result, for the first time in my life there was no joke, for the first time I was afraid Lex, afraid of what I had unleashed. For the first time I was faced with the consiquences of what I could do. I'm damned one way or the other for what I've done over the years, but the lowest depths of hell will seem like paradise when the Batman who Laughs unleashes whatever he has planned
I love how the Joker's actions STILL parallel Batman's, albeit with different specifics. Batman quits the Justice League, Joker quits the Legion of Doom. All roads inevitably leading back to one another.
Isaac Santos yea he is the best version of all the dark bats, prolly my favorite dc bad guy ever. Hes bruce wayne turned bad so naturally he would be leagues above any other bad guy ever, Batman is on par with wolverine in the sense he has the super power of fan love, he will never stay down he will, never take that full L and always comes back stronger.
I was honestly waiting for someone to mention this issue since it came out. Everything that happened here indicates several things, both about the Joker and Batman’s relationship and the origin of The Batman Who Laughs. First of all, the way Joker outsmarted Luthor and gassed the whole Legion proves that his and Batman’s battles are massively detrimental to the DC universe’s people as a whole. Batman may always win, but the Joker always learns from his mistakes and it’s become a sort of arms race between the two. Being second to Batman is still pretty damn smart and dangerous. So when Joker goes up against someone who isn’t Batman, well...we get what we saw here. Second of all...remember how the Joker of Earth -22 killed all Batman’s rogues, crippled Gotham City and the GCPD and set up the whole “Batman becomes the next Joker” plan? With this level of intelligence and setup from Earth 0 Joker, all of that becomes chillingly more realistic while the other Dark Knights origins remain far fetched.
Joker could just about be seen as smarter then batman, or at least equal, if you consider the fact that there have been many times when batman only beat him because Joker basically gave batman the chance to beat him. How many times has he paralyzed batman but chosen not to kill him? (Happened in end game and death of the family and those are just two recent stories) It's pretty clear that joker holds back. Much like in this story he made sure that lex was immune and that the toxin was non-lethal to the other villains He could've just killed them all...especially lex Batman who laughs is so dangerous because he doesn't tend to hold back when he has chances to kill. He's not playing games like joker. Of course batman could've also killed joker easily many times but you get the idea They're pretty close to even on intelligence . Plus batman has way more resources Another thing about BWL, is he is what the joker would be like if joker had all of Bruce Wayne's resources instead of cobbling together stuff from the underworld
@@natman2939 The joker is not as smart as batman. He's just really unpredictable and has no moral lines he won't cross, which gives him a distinct advantage over batman that most villains don't have. Batman being the worlds greatest detective means he knows exactly what all of his rogues gallery is going to do tomorrow. He knows what killer croc will do after he eats his bone cereal and leaves his sewer. He even knows what lex will do or superman for that matter, but he does not have a single iota as to what the joker is up to.
The Magnificent Creep you're ridiculously underrating the joker. It's not just "wow so unpredictable" he's clearly a super genius just to be able to set up the stuff he does. The toxins alone (like one that turns the entire legion into his slave except for lex because he somehow modified it not to work on lex) Joker has elaborate plans all the time that require lots of genius And as I said he seems to be able to catch batman at will. Simply chooses not to kill him
@@natman2939 The joker doesn't hold back. He does everything in his power to make batman suffer and to put batman in situations that test batman's moral code and inflict pain on him. He just normally skips the part where he is suppose to kill batman, but remember for every time the joker gets in a situation to kill batman there are hundreds of times that batman could have killed the joker. More than the other way around that's for sure.
I love the idea of a Joker being confronted with a Batman that killed his own Joker and became some new monster. An "abomination," he called it? What I wouldn't give to see them locked in a room with one another, for five minutes! Joker: "I'll KILL you for the ruined dream you represent!" Batman who Laughs: "I killed you once before, and it would almost feel like ruining a magic trick to do it again!"
The fact that the story gives The Joker a moral compass is pretty sweet Imo. And the fact that this story introduces a line that the JOKER won't cross should have Lex Luthor shaking in his power suit LOL
@@ymfexperience3138 I'd like to think that, in all his years, the joker has come to learn, in his own twisted way, that there's a balance to everything; BWL is what happens when the balance is gone..... All chaos and destruction, on a multi-versal stage, Ending realities and all that. Where's the joke in that?
@@ymfexperience3138 Not really. There's nothing funny about the absolute end of all of existence. The Joker is all about destruction, chaos and anarchy but you can't have any of that when you have nothing at all. It's not just their differing goals that show this but how they achieve them. With the Joker, it's all just a game and so he wants to prolong the fun as much as he can but the BWL doesn't care about that at all, he's singularly focussed on ending everything.
Pretty much Joker turns the card around filling the hero role as the anti-hero The Red Hood forcing even LOD members to turn the Ace Card too. Dam DC make the Movie Already!
@@hatakekakashi3381 most of those crying motherfuckers doesn't even read comics, and if they hate the batmobile with guns wait till they see the grim knight who literally kills people with guns!
Nah, it's the other comic book channels. Brotha here covers some if the Dopest story lines of every character and then some. And he engages with his audience without asking for anything other than to be respectful. Meanwhile, click here for patreon and sign up for this and pay for that, is how most comicbook videos begin and end. We get the story, some insight and can talk about it here... So they hate lol
Despite the very few limitations the Joker has, he’s still human, and the information we get from The Killing Joke shows that Joker has a limit so the insanity and laughter. The end result of The Batman Who Laughs? That’s way past the limit.
Ultimately, just like every other DC story involving Lex Luthor, he is and will always be his own undoing, only this time the stake seems slightly bigger because success hinges on self-sacrifice something Luthor is diametrically opposed to. since we can basically assume that Luthor is going to fail in his quest for domination, the one who laughs would accept nothing less. My guess is in the end whatever clever plan the one who laughs has in motion will result in the 2 Batmen canceling each-other out and balanced restored. The Batman who laughs for all his scheming has done little more then upset the balance of things - For every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction. I await the aftermath of DC year of the Villain with great anticipation.
Delly Tancyl nah I think joker will kill the Batman who laughs, I don't see it going any other way if they aim to kill him off because Batman won't\can't kill him whatever. But joker will somehow fake his death show up when you least expect it and shank his ass or id like to see him sneak up with a modified bang gun you know the one that fires a rod with a flag on ot that says bang but with a sharp end on it that will go thru his head and a bloody bang flag comes out Thats how I'd do it
......... "Slightly" bigger? we're talking about the end of reality here, and that's just the beginning of BWLs' joke; of all of Lexs' fuck ups, this is top shelf right here
At his core, Lex Luthor is a small, insecure man so desperate to look big and powerful and with a heart so small that he never let anyone inside it, not even himself.
I've always loved the rivalry of Lex and The Joker. I wonder what will happen once Darkseid gets in touch with The Batman Who Laughs that's a convo I want to see.
Darkseid IS. The Batman Who Laughs is still but a man, and what is a man compared to a GOD. Now read that sentence again in your favorite Darkseid voice.
But but but a comedian told me that comic books aren't well written and that they are for kids. He also said that they weren't comparable to real literature because they have pictures on every page ... you mean to tell me he was wrong all along??? Long live good story telling no matter what genre it comes in!
I really need the folks who dislike the video to step up and give a reason why. This break down was by far one of the best. The enthusiasm, the thorough break down, the music choice...the list goes on. I need Rob from ComicsExplained and DopeSpills to collab. I remember when your first broke into the scene and your "black" approach at comics is what got you the sub.
Lex is smart and all but if he had a time machine why not go back and do all this stuff with JL , like before they knew he was bad and trick them to do what he wants ? Butttt the BWL and Grimm Knight are dope AF!!!
It wouldn`t work like the past because lex( he was good/ neutral previously) rebecame evil and they would be able to tell Good/ neutral lex from evil lex based on his appearance.
Ol to be fare can we all agree that the joker just did the most o.g thing ever, not only did he have the league of doom on their knees but cures them and walk out like hey you killed urself and too all my fun away fo fck it, he going to do wrost to u all and am sit bck n watch. To that how u quit a job and dont give two freak wat happened next
When the Joker said his most grand fantastic “art” is nothing compared to what BWL would do, that just proven how horrifying the BWL really is. I’ve seen some messed stuffs and I don’t even want to know what BWL would do.
I wanted to upload earlier but im going thru a few issues moving hopefully things will be running smoother in the next couple weeks or so.. had to upload this at Starbucks 🤷♂️
They're counterparts but I wouldn't say they're of the same capabilities, just as the others are counterparts to their Justice League rival. After all, seems that the powers of the totality are dependent on the foils to the Justice League, which is why they're here instead of other villains.
Batman's rogues gallery all represent an aspect of his personality, but taken to the extreme. In Joker's case is his bad day, but channeled in a destructive way.
I think he is the best strategist out of the doom legion if only he put some effort into actually being one for the sake of a team work, but he is joker so 🤷🏻♂️
@McDonald's Big Mac UM Joker is Batmans archnemisis. Notice how Batman and Joker kind of synonymous with each other. Both had contingencies against their respective leagues and both quit their respective leagues even though they are founders.
The Batman Who Laughs: "You're talking to A Batman..... I'm here because I want to be." You tell him, Batman, you tell him. Also, I wish Sinestro would go back to being a Yellow Lantern, this Ultraviolet Lantern thing just ain't workin' for me.
This video was soooooo damn dope!!!! I'm not really a DC fan, but dammit, your synopsis of the storyline was so damn cool and engrossing. I've gotta go get those books!!!
john stewart not a dc fan says the guy named john Stewart You sure you ain't really a fan, you really really sure lol Just fkn wit ya but c'mon someone had 2
It's incredible how much of a legendary status The Batman Who Laughs has gained since DC Metal. A Batman who laughs can not just win... he will ALWAYS exist.
BWL is when Joker finally sees what total victory looks like. It reminds him of why he and Bruce have this seemingly eternal war. If Bruce becomes him it just sucks the fun out of literally everything.
Lex let his ego get the better of him and thought he was able to control forces he truly didn't understand. Put simply Lex straight up got outsmarted by the joker. All of this just shows how powerful the batman who laughs must be. Jokers greatest strength is that he's A moral. He's unpredictable, so much in fact that the worlds greatest detective can't figure out what he's going to do next. This is why the joker is batmans greatest villain and the greatest villain hero dynamic in comic book history. Now imagine batman with that attribute. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see some real feats from the batman who laughs.
King you the only reason I keep up with this .... You love it and that definitely hypes me up . It's like I read all the books, I haven't picked up not one issue .... Amazing you are , king.
@@jellymc2877 well if you wanna get meta I think he is jealous of him because fans would like him better cause he new and fresh and make the joker just some generic clown villain reason why I say meta cause the joker one time broke the forth wall and had a major impact on modern pop culture
except for the other 14 times they have joined forces. yeah, this would be the only time. the reason The Joker freaked out over BWL is cuz he is an abomination in the eyes of The Joker. Batman is supposed to be the Straight Man in their comedy duo. also the fact that The Joker knows that for there to be a BWL a Joker had to die.
@@mikeemmons1079 Pretty much.BWL is an abomination. A cheat. He renders Joker as obsolete in his eyes or makes Joker look sane with morals by comparison.
Fantastic story telling. This is brilliant and you’re an amazing story narrator. The art is sick man ! Love Joker ‘s look. Actually all the villains look fantastic.
Man I am loving this comic. :D Batman vs BWL is like seeing Goku vs Goku Black (or Turles from the Tree of Might). I just love seeing these sort of stuff. Also keep up the awesome videos. :)
No, Goku Black merely had god powers and crazy power boosts. Anyone could punt him like a football until fusion happened. BwL is far more dangerous. If you make Joker leave, that's proof enough to back tf out.
Yo, man you need to bring more of these justice league comics, it's getting deeper than comics itself! I love TBWL he's my favorite villian besides Darkseid!
Lol..Luthor could merge with Brainiac and become Luthoriac and would still stand no chance of surviving what The Batman Who Laughs has planned for him.
And when the joker of all people warns you about a criminal being too dangerous, you should heed his warning. Joker may be crazy but even he doesn't want to destroy the world. He just was the cause chaos.
Hey family. It's me the "Nobody". This storyline is sick with it. I mean it has more twists and turns than a pretzel factory. Which way are they going? How is it gonna turn out. All I can say is GIVE US MORE MAN GIVE US MORE! Ever since I've come across this I've been hooked and just looking for this particular story. Die hard fan of both Marvel and DC but I've been hooked on this story the most. It reminds me of the very first Secret Wars story, and I couldn't put it down. The Batman who laughs is the sh@#. No one's touching him that I can see so far. And if I recall, now that he's loose you may as well "Dance with the Devil by the pale moonlight". Do your thing DC because you've brought comics back from the movie world. And if they ever did a movie, it wouldn't be as good as this. It would be stripped and watered down of ALL OF IT'S PERFECTION. In other words they can't touch it. The Batman who laughs should be a main character now because he fu$@# with everything and everybody. In closing, he's the best villan I've ever seen and I for one love him. Keep the inspiration going. ONE.
Easily one of my favorite videos on the channel because of how you broke this issue down! So let me get this straight and let me know if you agree/disagree; The Batman Who Laughs bargained with Lex that if you let me go and we promise to stay out of each other's way, I'll give you the name of "her." He spit out the Dark Metal pick which he says he could've used to escape those chains at any moment (no doubt because he is "a Batman" who is a trained escape artist). I agree that he probably had like 27+ other ways he could've escaped IF he wanted to. So, making Lex believe he was in control of the situation made it easier for him to get their bargain in place. Now, I think TBWL is aware of how much of a "threat" Lex is so in order to keep him occupied on his scheme with the doorknob so Luthor doesn't stop his plans; he figured let me give you info on this other thing and you stay in your side of the playground and I'll stay on mine. I'm pretty sure TBWL knows that if Lex knew what he was planning, he would most likely try to stop him from succeeding. So, in order to move that obstacle, he gave Lex something that he wanted. This goes back to what the Joker said about how what I had in store for you is nothing compared to what TBWL will do to you. Thoughts? And yes, I hope as this story goes on when TBWL meets up with Lex again, he get an issue or flashback where we see TBWL meeting with a Lex on another earth!
Darkseid: We need money for the Source Wall before Yuga Khan crosses over and brings death, destruction, chaos, and drugs. DC: But who's gonna pay for the wall? Darkseid: MARVEL'S GONNA PAY FOR THE SOURCE WALL!!!
If Batman ever came to our reality and met the current crop of writers/editors in charge of DC Comics, I'm pretty sure they'd find themselves experiencing his patented "Joker Treatment" first-hand.
The Joker is the one villain in DC that has basically gotten one over or freaked out every other villain. I loved the explanation from injustice the most - I got tired of losing to the Batman and decided to play the game on easy mode. I like the idea of the Joker being fixated on Batman and toying with him through out all of their encounters.
If joker is afraid of the Bat who laughs You know sh__ bout to get real Cause let’s face it, if the joker is *SCARED* of someone that means shit is *REALLY* gonna go down
I like the Batman/Joker parallels in this. Batman has emergency plans to take out any Justice League member should they turn evil and at one point left the League when he didn't agree with them. Joker also has plans to take out all the Legion of Doom members (albeit he actually used them himself) and then left the Legion because he didn't agree with them. Just like Batman.
First 😁😁! Sorry just first time doing it. It makes sense as the Batman who laugh is also the anti version of the Joker as he is of batman. Seeing the Batman who laughs was like everything that joker saw in Batman is gone. Also Notification squad Assemble!!!!!
