"I did not hit rock bottom, the rock did." "And the bottom of the pit was me." "For it had hit my back, trying to kill me." "And it almost did." "Broke my knees and break my will." "Nearly shattered me completely." "But I still wake every day, with the rock on my back obviously, carrying it still." "To where I carry this rock, I do not know." "When will I let it down, I do not know that either." "But maybe, I will one day tell you, that I am free, that I am unburdened." "Hopefully." "If I am still alive, that is."
You reason to get back up and keep taking hits doesn’t have to be grand or world changing, all it has to do is mean something to you. A few years ago I was at my limit, but I kept getting up in the morning because my cat, who was old and been abandoned on the street by her owners, needed me to, and because I swore she’d live out her days in comfort, being well fed and safe. She kept me going and I got through that difficult period of my life. All you need is one small reason to keep going.
