Hello Andrew, Wonderful piece on the battle and its aftermath. Your lecture would be hard to better surely. One note about the piobaireachd. I play setting No. 1 which is in the Piobaireachd Society's Book No. 2 and like it's other sister No.1, both pieces are played with the Crunluath a Mach. The setting that Mr. Maclennan is playing is No. 2. Don''t wish to contradict you, but as I compete with this setting just wanted to state that both settings of these emotove pieces have the mach which are required when competing. One could omit the mach when playing privately.

Your interest in presenting the music for the battle of Auld earn i believe is vitally important to persevering the battle which further ties its people to the land. I've played in Pipe bands for over a decade and so when you started talking about piobaireached of Auld earn and the Canntaireachd i was fascinated. My Drum teacher used this method to teach me snare drum, he use to HUM the vowels and constinants of the pipe tune whilst playing the drum piece. If you can say it, you can play it, Alex was his name and he was from Edinburgh. I am a MacLennan from Australia and became a member of the clan which have many details of the clan and locations around Scotland that people can visit, Auld earn was one such place. I went there because as you mention the Chief of the clan MacLennan was the banner bearer to Mackenzie. His Life was lost Unfortunately, so visiting the site and imagining the battle unfold was surreal. I wish i had of seen this video before going however i hope to one day return soon as there a few pieces to the puzzle that I've yet to uncover from my Family tree in regard to my ancestors in Scotland. Keep up the great work and look forward to more videos. Tapadh leat

What a great virtual tour video. You did an amazing job. I hope to go one day as my direct ancestors were farming not far from there at Skenepark (Knocknagillan) now owned by the Philip's. I'm obsessed with that part of the country and slowly learning a bit more. Thank you for that video.
