I recall a story, I don’t remember from where or what battle, where it was reported that more Muslims were unalived after the battle fighting over booty than were fallen in battle.

Battle of Mutah first battle between Muslims vs Christians 3,000 Muslims stood up to a Roman army stationed in northern Arabia and fought it for 7 days, but due to the large number of Christians,muslims was forced to withdraw..Khalid ibn Al Walid took command and made a brilliant withdrawal that is still studied in military universities today. The Muslims withdrew under after losing 12 martyrs, while Christians lost 3,350 dead.
In the recording of history, especially in the past, biases existed that either inflated the enemy numbers and/or minimized the were sustained to either glorify a victory or downplay a defeat. When sources from both sides exist, it becomes possible to determine the manipulation of the numbers and estimate the true approximate numbers. The longer a battle is recounted orally, the more embellishments occur. Since we only have the Muslim version of the battle, exaggerated with religious undertones, it becomes harder to distinguish truth from fiction. Muhammad throwing stones may have occurred, but nothing came of it other than a general moral boost. The idea angels were fighting for the Muslims was a later invention in the story to reinforce the Islamic belief that the divine was fighting on their side.
Historical records, from ancient to the most recent, got more often distorted then not. Therefore critic of the sources is one of the main tasks of Historians. Except for islamic history of course, where everything has to be taken at face value.
Colin, I have been reading Hidden Origins of Islam and Early Islam from German scholars and it does not seem that there was a prophet Muhammed in the 7th nor the existence of a city called Mecca which fails the descriptions given it. Shoemaker in his latest book describes that if Mecca existed as an outpost it would have no more than 500 people of which 1/3 would be male adults. He also states that Medina would have around 1000 due to having an Oasis and again 1/3 would be adult aged males. He also says that there were no Jews or Christians in those areas. What is your take on this? If Shoemaker's sources are correct then how do we have these battles with 12000 plus when at best both cities would be 1500 with 500 adult aged males??
There is so much that is embarrassing to Islam, so much that paints Mohammed in an objectionable light, I think Mohammed was a real person. Who would invent the Satanic verses incident or the story of a goat eating a surah or his child bride scraping semen out of his clothes. If you're going to make up stories about your prophet, you're going to make him look good.
I completely agree about Mecca. I think that "Muhammad" goes back to some sort of charismatic figure(s). That makes the most sense to me. He wasn't completely invented. He was simply transformed to the Islamic prophet. With respect to the large numbers, Ibrahim notes numerous examples of inflation, I gave an example of that in this video. 12,000 man army...4 died. Not realistic.

Let's not forget that we would see MHMD/MHMT and not Muhammad as no vowels which was a title based on the research of Mel Speakers Corner. Also, I found it interesting that Marwan I had a mother with the same name as Muhammad's, and 2 of his wives were named Aisha and Zaynub.
Khalid bin Al-Walid the greatest general of all time , fought fiercely in Hunayn, but he was severely wounded by several stab wounds and remained lying on the ground until the end of the battle,after the battle the Noble Prophet came to him, spat into his hand, and wiped the body of Khalid bin Al-Walid until he was healed and recovered as nothing happened to him. The Prophet did this several times healing many wounded and sick, and it is considered one of his countless miracles.
I love how Muslims proclaim the miracles of Muhammad, when the Quran repeatedly affirms its messenger did not perform signs. That shows Muhammad is superior to the Quran in your theology, since you freely contradict it to elevate your prophet. Also, how about Khalid boiling that guy's head in a pot and sleeping with his with the night he beheaded him? Sounds like a great guy, completely worthy of your respect.

The angels descended in Hunayn to strengthen the Muslims and to strike fear and cast terror into the Polytheists. Some of the angels were allowed to kill some of the polytheists like in Badr. Of course, the angels, whose number is infinite, are a wondrous and great world in another dimension that human senses cannot perceive, but they can enter our world and dimension.. If one of them were allowed to destroy the earth and humanity, he would do so in a moment. The Prophet described one of them by saying (The distance between his ear-lobes and his shoulders is equivalent to a seven-hundred-year journey at a speed of bird) in Some hadiths mention that there are angels that can swallow the entire heavens and the earth like a morsel in the mouth of someone of you Like The angel of the Mountains who came to Muhammed and said ‘O Muhammad, Allah listened to what your people had said to you. I am the angel of the mountains, and Allah has sent me to you so that you may give me your orders. (I will carry out your orders). If you wish I will bring together the two mountains that stand opposite to each other at the extremities of Makkah to crush them [Polytheists of Quraysh] in between'
Battle of Rabadh Ghaza (Gaza): A major battle took place in Jumada al-Awwal 642 or 1244 north of Gaza in which the Muslims, led by King As-Salih Najm al-Din Ayyub and with him an army of the Khwarezmians, were able to annihilate a large Crusader army, who had with them some traitorous Ayyubid princes, along with a few hundred of their men. Muslims killed more than 30,000 Crusaders including many princes and priests and took great spoils. Before that, the Muslims , thanks to the Khwarezmian warriors, conquered and liberated Jerusalem on Safar 8, 642 AH...they slaughtered all the crusader men and enslaved the women and children. the Khwarazmians also dug up all the graves of the Crusaders, took out their bones, and burned them (Muslim chronicales)

Malik ibn Awf leader of Hawazin was a brave but reckless young man, and he took with him all the women, children, and animals of Hawazin so that the men of Hawazin would not flee during the battle. Although Durayd ibn As-Somma, who was an old wise man and a veteran aged + 100 years old, blind, and could not hear much, tried to prevent Malik from bringing the women, children, and the animals with the army And yes, the vanguard of Muslims initialy fled after the polytheists set up an ambush for them, but thanks to the bravery of the Prophet the muslims won and took the large booty of Hawazin and the other Arab tribes

From what I understand Mohammed didn’t exactly put himself in the front line of too many battles. In fact he was a bit of a coward and got others to do his dirty work for him.

I have a doubt? Can we consider the 9/11 atrocity as an Islamic act? I mean ofcourse it is Islamist (terrorist), but isn't suicide a sin in Islam. So my doubt is wouldn't these suicide-murders be considered haram in the original rules. Also, is there really a one true Islam (true not in the sense of divine reality, but by originality)

( Sahih al-Bukhari 2797, al-Bukhari 2782) The command for j1had against the disbelievers and the hypocrites (q 66:9) J1had is made obligatory (q 2:216) They are driven to sin Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if you were not to commit sin, Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace (you by) those people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would have pardoned them. (Sahih Muslim 2749)
The suicide was part of fighting for Islam. It was an act of war and therefore not only allowed but encouraged like other Islamic groups that also commit suicide campaigns in waging Jihad.
