The University of Utah Chamber Choir under the direction of Dr. Barlow Bradford performs Joshua Fit the Battle at their 2014 Bon Voyage concert in the Libby Gardner Concert Hall
My junior high concert choir class is singing this and Elijah Rock which is also by Moses Hogan. We are doing it for our last choir concert this year. After 27 years, this is our amazing teacher's last year here so we are going big. Rocky Mountain Jr. High will miss you Mr. Saunders 😢
I remember when I was working at a restaurant in Quebec and I was the one in charge that night, some students from I don’t remember the schools in the US came for a dinner. They sang me this song when they finished. I wished I had record this. I feel so grateful for this moment.
Nice to hear this kind of fullness in sound of a choir from this region. Usually tonal richness and color are sacrificed to a "blended" aesthetic which, while beautiful, is more of the same. when a choir director allows the women to fully use the expanse of the voice, it makes for much more compelling and moving singing to my ear.
I always wish conductors would stop cutting "walls" and "come" at the end so short. I do love when they slow down the 4 stacked female chords of "down", because they really are splendid
Beautiful, rousing rendition. An example of the embracing of Black American culture by the mainstream. The history of this amazing country, this country that arose against all odds is the history of ALL Americans of ALL colors. History is a warts and all continuum that must not be denied. It makes us what we are today. There is only one Race: HUMAN God bless America.
Joshua fit the battle of Jericho Jericho Jericho Joshua fit the battle of Jericho And the walls came tumbling down Hallelujah Joshua fit the battle of Jericho Jericho Jericho Joshua fit the battle of Jericho And the walls came tumbling down You may talk about the men of Gideon You may talk about the men of Saul But there's none like the good old Joshua At the battle of Jericho Hallelujah Joshua fit the battle of Jericho Jericho Jericho Joshua fit the battle of Jericho And the walls came tumbling down Hallelujah Joshua fit the battle of Jericho Jericho Jericho Joshua fit the battle of Jericho And the walls came tumbling down Up to the walls of Jericho With sword drawn in his hand Go blow them horns like Joshua The battle is in my hands Joshua fit the battle of Jericho Jericho Jericho Joshua fit the battle of Jericho And the walls came tumbling down That mornin' Joshua fit the battle of Jericho Jericho Jericho Joshua fit the battle of Jericho And the walls came tumbling down Hallelujah Joshua fit the battle of Jericho Jericho Jericho Joshua fit the battle of Jericho And the walls came tumbling down
Cause it’s Utah, I can’t help but think that these folks are just in a pipeline for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir…. If you’re in trouble and need help, sing a high note!
I think it is much better to SING this song than to 'study' it. Actually, I study songs only when I can SING them. What it is the point of talking about excitement, if you cannot FEEL it? Here we are, with my Amsterdam choir, LOVING this music! See how our conductor totally LOVES this too! One of the highlights of that year's programme! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t5BTeEYxm9A.html
