Good video! My 2nd great grandfather fought at Petersburg with the 149th PA Bucktails. I did a lot reading on their unit back 35 years ago and visited many of the places they fought including Petersburg.
The Timothy Rives Farm on Jerusalem Plank Road hosted numerous batterys (26, 25, 24, 23, maybe 27 and Fort Mahone). It was the scene of the initial June 9, 1864 Battle of Old Boys and Young Men. The union looted, then burnt down the family home and destroyed the family Cemetery. Timothy, in his 60s, was taken POW to Point Lookout POW camp in Maryland. I found the location of his home and family Cemetery. He was my cousin.
I've been to Petersburg and toured the field twice, but it is nice to have some play by play commentary to help better understand what went on in each spot.
Petersburg I think was the perfect consol of the end of the war, slaughter, total war, and a preview of the true scale that was could be industrialized
Please take some money and invest in some pro audio equipment. The fluctuations in volume, the wind in the mic ruins videos. I'm sure I'm not the only one listening with hearing loss. That being said I love the channel.
