The Battle of Tewkesbury 1471 

This weekend Tewkesbury Medieval Festival staged their 40th re-enactment of the Battle of Tewkesbury 1471.
This was a defining battle in the Wars of the Roses when the army of Yorkist King Edward IV defeated the Lancastrians and killed Edward, the Prince of Wales, son of King Henry VI.
Each year on the second weekend of July a medieval camp sprouts up and the battle is restaged with thousands of participants in full armour.
Quite a sight!
