Justin nailed it by stating he's worried. He has good reason to be worried and you can be damn sure we're worried too. Both teams know the other can do a proper number on them. I'm not as anxious as the country felt in '95 but goddam am I scared and pumped for this weekends game.
I'll take the high road. I think we've got the team to do it that's not blind faith or arrogance or anything in between we know what SA will bring to the fight and no-way will it be a forgone. But again I'll back the Abs I'm confident they'll do the job.
@@rodeo4786 I don’t disagree. Haven’t checked the odds but if they’re making it 50/50 then my moneys on AB’s. Last weeks fatigue has a lot to do with it. Hopefully we’re recharged and give a good game.
Very different context, South Africa looked visibly tired during and after the semi final and ABs are fresh and injury free. It was the opposite in 2019, England expended a ton of energy to beat ABs. Eben was a non factor versus england, Kolisi was a non factor.
@@2011hwalker we looked tired after that last quarter final in 2019. I am not sure Eben and Siya are going to be non factors on Saturday... apparently you can be a non factor and still win !
Yawn .. Tindall's hatred of all things SA comes to the fore again.. remember his 2019 " if SA wins the WC it will be a travesty" comment?. Now on the French game "SA create nothing" forgetting about the three trys. I hope we win just so that he can cry into his royal cornflakes for another 4 years. Jussie, what a white side.
Absolute tool Tindell. Cant actually be objective and his analysis as a former player is awful. Marshall is another level, and was a great player who understands the Boks.
You all seem to have serious memory loss, South Africa was in exactly the same position as NZ going into 2019. The two teams respect and challenge each other in equal measure, the rest of the wirld needs to catch up. 🇿🇦
As a Kiwi it is the ultimate test there is no greater challenge for a rugby player in our country, history, tradition all contribute to playing these matches, a RWC Final is the pinnacle. It will be a battle.
the Jerry Collins story made me think of the great Herschelle Gibbs's innings of 175 in the 438 game against Australia. Also out on the town till the sun came up.
As a South African I can understand Mike's devastation at England's loss. They played superbly- Farrel, Steward, Curry and others were brilliant. South Africa played poorly until the 67th minute. I do not think the penalty decision is valid having watched from every angle it looked like a penalty to me. Having said that there were a few mistakes by O Keef on both sides and some also went against SA--especially in the first half! England only scored 3 points in the second half--they had quite a few opportunities to close out the match and take the referee out of it and they could not. They dominated South Africa playing exactly like SA used to play. After the try SA were always going to find a penalty if not that one before the end of the game. Probably the wrong team won on the night but the right team is in the final. I think England would have had little chance against the ABs in a final. I am glad Mike predicted an All Black win because he usually gets it wrong! I would fancy our chances if Ireland had got through but the ABs can thrash us on any given day, but if we win it will be close! Lets see what Rassie comes up with! He is the Steve Jobs of rugby--a bit crazy but a brilliant innovator! One point would do it for me--then there will probably be another week of moaning!
Superbly? We were and are a very very average team with a new coach a confused style. An average England team came with 90 seconds of knocking out the self proclaimed ‘best’.
In all fairness England should have won the game, but they did not. Average England team yes, but that was the best you have played all World Cup. Your hardest game was Argentina in the groups and well they did not even turn up. Fiji took you very close and you could argue you nicked that from them. Eng vs SA was the worst we have played lol World Cup. We have also had to play sides ranked in the top 6 to get to the final and we there. The AB’s are going to be a hard nut to crack but they a nut and we can crack them excuse the poor metaphor. Let’s just hope it’s a great game not like our last performance. 🇿🇦
Thank you GBR, true legends of the game and go the mighty AB's... Noreira, i raro i te manaakitanga o te runga rawa, kia kaha, kia maia, kia manawanui koutou Te Kapa o Pango. Kua tae mai ano te wa Aotearoa, hei awhi, hei tautoko, hei karakia ma to matou nei Kapa ki tawhiti ra... Noreira, noho ora mai koutou katoa, paimarire...
Mike Tindall, your love affair with the Springboks is the stuff of legend....and not every Bok supporter is as arrogant as you claim. Marshy, so Rassie is not well liked by the players? Elaborate please?
Marshal always appreciate your unbiased views, great player and pundit! Tindall we know you don’t like 🇿🇦 and that’s okay bru, we don’t mind. This is going to be a great game and fine margins I’m sure. Come on the BOKKE 🇿🇦🤙🏼.
Fans on social media are such a small part of the whole fanbase, so I agree it’s very rude to say we are all awful, I like this pod a lot but all the abuse Springbok teams /fans get is turning me into a troll too 🤣
Tindall’s dislike for South Africa is revealing. He clearly fears Springboks quality. Was he once humiliated by a South African team? I once met Nick Easter and he couldn’t praise South African rugby enough, the respect was off the charts.
Great discussion!! Justin's reflection of Brendan Venters approach of how the Bok's used to play is what has changed in the South African's approach and a great manifest of how they have changed since 2019. Also a big reason for Rassie's success. As a Saffer, you never under estimate the AB's or right them off in any tournament. imo SA will win as they can adjust and hopefully quickly adapt to the big pressures the AB's will bring to this Final as they did in the knock-out rounds. And,... yes playing against the AB's you are always worried for 80 long minutes. From a spectator angle, hopefully we are treated to a rugby event for the history books. Both Teams have exceptional talent for doing doing just that..... As far as loosing , prefer loosing against NZ than Ireland, England or France any day! :)
SPRINGBOKS HAVE 58 MILLION SOUTH AFRICA SPORTING THEM Springboks are the only team to win the three world Cup finals they played in but did not play in 87 & 91, which they have done better than All Blacks. The Springboks have the team to win World Cup for the 4th time!!!!
Its because they talk such a load of crap that they hate being criticised for the crap they pass off as rugby expertise. Nothing more than their own unmitigated biases. They never ever even rated the Boks to get to the final. And even after the back-to-back victory and four time winners they still find it hard to speak without revealing their begrudged biases and anti-Bok sentiment. I suppose up North they just hate it when they control the rules the venues and the allocation of referees while we take away the spoils of victory. Its the only way we can show them a finger.
On the “curfew” story, I would add Herschelle Gibbs before scoring 175 in the famous 438 game. If you haven’t yet, have a read of his autobiography about the night before that game
Obviously some tipsy guys here mates but woowee - I think the below the belt smutsing of the Boks was below Tins and Justin's iconic status. A Bok supporter forgives and raises a glass anyway.
@@kraaidievoel apologies mate my bad. Using the word covering is like saying they were helping him hide something or carrying him because he wasn't up to the job
I'm from South Africa, my name is Yusuf...I think your show is absolutely brilliant. Your knowledge about this beautiful game is outstanding....love your show and long may it continue. ❤ PS. You guys are much better than the Australian version 😂
Bottom line, the ultimate world cup final is going to happen between the world's two greatest teams. Win or loose, there is massive respect between both team's and supporters.
The English invented rugby and cricket but the people they oppressed are winning them. We won them saturday in rugby and cricket. We are a resilient nation and no matter what you guys say about the Springboks we are one team to be rekond with. English must play netball 😂😂
Great to watch and to listen to the commentary and banter. There is a lot of rugby knowledge around the table which makes it both interesting and entertaining. There is understandably still a lot of pain all around after the devastating loss of England against the Boks on Saturday. One can sense the disappointment still lingering in the air. That being said as a South African, rather than being compared to a mosquito I’d much rather think that it would be more closer to home, especially for our English friends in the panel, to compare us with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier - a tenacious but vicious foe that never gives up and who always punch way above its weight. Just like Mike said, we South Africans don’t like to lose. But then as my father also said, a good loser is a frequent loser. It is exactly that fighting spirit that makes us such a force to be reckoned with, and so dangerous. It is the same tenacity that made the British crown also underestimate the Boer farmers during the Anglo Boer War. I’m looking forward to listening to the show again after this weekend’s final. Especially since I was also in the stands at Ellispark during the last time that these two great teams met at a RWC Final and the boks clinched the Cup after refusing to give up.
"punch above its weight" What the hell are you talking about,? Until 97 we led the ABs who until then had never won a series in SA. We won there in 1949, 3/0. After our period of adjustment to re-entry and politics, we're back where we were for decades. Four out of four times world champions, back to back and number 1 in the world. Rugby history not your string point.
Do you always comment on male podcasters looks? Or do you just reserve it for people who’ve achieved more in one lifetime that you could in a thousand.
Love the banter 😂 especially since the panels hung over and half cut 💯 brilliant.....if the boks win it will be hard as a AB fan but after watching all the rugby podcasts and talking to our SA fans i wouldnt want any other team to win , the genuine respect they show towards the black jersey is humbling 👍 ..LETS GO BLACKS 💪🇬🇸🥇💯
Hmmm. Marshall’s take on the ‘regimented’ style of SA coaching is a bit off. Schalk Brits said on the RWC pod today that Rassie empowers players to make their own decisions…encourages it. You don’t steal a QF and SF like we did without being resourceful and thinking outside the box.
Oh please, please Boks please win if only to get seriously right up Mike Tindell’s nose. So now he’s hating less on the South African rugby players and putting all that belligerence on South African supporters with some kind of stupid imitation of what a South African fan looks and sounds like. I hate stooping to his level but I’m doing it.
He was always going to struggle to be selected for the sky sport rwc commentary team, they know he would spend much of the tournament on the sauce and his altercation with Akira in 2022 and a lot of the bs he has talked about fossie, cane and others means he doesn't have a great relationship with the ab camp.
Saffa and blood is green Springboks supporter here. Listening to Justin Marshall telling how about 6 senior players pitched up in defense of Fossie... Huge respect for those players.
Nobody can afford his time to get him on this sort of thing anymore. Despite how he comes across on camera, he's actually a clever and very wealthy businessman
Like MARSHY said a bokka coach is never challenged. His way is the ONLY WAY and bokka players accept that. Kiwi mentality is all about adaptability .....so questions and game plans are a natural involvement of the TEAMs progression ...the Coach makes the final decisions from that input. He does have the last say...
@@teawaruaedwards274what nonsense. Springbok players are all about the team and do stand up against any coach who they believe is not acting in the best interest if the team and the Jersey. They eid so to Straueli and De Villiers. Under De Villiers it was Smit and other senior players who basically coached the team.
Great pod guys. Reminiscent of pods in 2019. Writing off the bok's after England beat Aus and NZ on the trot. A section of my countrymen will be impossible to live with if we win but I guess for each one of them there's also at three that live in townships that could use that champion feeling. Go bokke
Brilliant. Totally blootered. Mike seems to have been pished all RWC. I haven’t really seen my wife the whole tournament. And I’ve only been in the house and at the boozer
Du Pont doesn't get any sanctions or fines for blaming the ref. When other teams do it World Rugby steps in fast. No wonder the French feel that they have the right to treat Ben like shit cause Antionette and World Rugby said it's ok in the minds of the French. I don't blame the French I blame World Rugby and Ben should be pissed off for being thrown under the bus like this. You could clearly see his bias in that first half!
With the Rugby World Cup drawing to a close and in the aftermath of the Springbok/England match, I would like to teach the English rugby commentators, columnists, and supporters one Afrikaans word, which is very applicable in the current situation. “Bitterpis” is an Afrikaans word. A direct translation into English would be bitter pee. Bitterpis refers to an attitude, words, and actions of bitterness, negativity, and cynicism fueled by feelings of failure, despair, inferiority, incompetence, envy, etc. The word can be used as a noun as well as an adverb. Therefore, people like Warren Gatland, Mike Tindall, Sir Clive, Mat Williams, and many other English commentators can be described as a bitterpis, while their comments are simply bitterpis. A bitterpis will always deny the facts and find excuses why things did not go their way. South Africa is playing in the World Cup final of 2023, and England, France, and Wales are not. In fact, no Northern Hemisphere team reached the final. Those are the facts, like it or not! Please, stop being (a) bitterpis!
to All you jabbers !!! if England and France were so good !!! Where were the GOALS. South Africa is world class ! We do what works for us !! We do we ! Stop concentrating on us ! You Do You
Gosh lots has changed in South Africa since the Brendan Venter times 😂 some things may still apply but on the whole its quite different. Some old rugby players might not like Rassie but as a coach for the current team and fans he is very popular.
I always feel people don't know how to read stats when it comes to SA. They keep winning games that they statistically should be losing which means they are looking at other parameters. the "missed tackle" stat has been crazy high for 4 years compared to other tier one nations but teams are being tackled backwards against the boks so are they really missed tackles or is that stat calculated wrong. Run meters - SA tries to play without the ball as much as possible waiting for the opp to mess up so of course their run meters will be less. Also when SA lost games trying things like the French game in 2022 or the second Wales test, SA is playing poorly but when the All Blacks get rolled it's because they have a cunning plan....
Regarding missed tackles ....if 3 players tackle one, 2 slowing him down and one taking him down, is that 2 missed tackles and one made? I think so technically. Other teams would only have one tackler, maybe 2. The Boks line speed stat is number one in the works, you're going to get a lot of half tackles with that
@@andy_oliveIf your line speeds is so fast that one player is getting his hands on a player and allowing him down, that's a missed tackle but technically, it's not tackle, it's a tactic like you say but you can't being someone down so easily in the open field, you can however get on them faster than any other team and create havoc, either they make a minimal gain, go nowhere or even backwards. SA has the fastest line speed to the tackle in the world, the AB's have the fastest time to breakdown in the world ...what a matchup.
@@marcdaniels9079You don't follow the game so you, especially not the Boks. Winning world cups is what it's all about. Rassie has spent 4 yrs experimenting and implementing. Yes, there have been some losses but still in the top 4 always. Now....well we've beaten the top 6 ranked teams in the world.
I disagree with much of what JM is saying. Beauden clearly stands out as an excellent fullback choice due to his impressive kicking game, decision-making abilities, and outstanding skills and speed with the ball. He poses a significant threat to any opposing team. Similarly, Jorden has proven himself as one of, if not the best, outside backs in the tournament, excelling in his role as a winger. He consistently seizes opportunities from that position, so why fix what isn't broken? Reiko also shines at the 13 position. It's challenging to name another player who is unequivocally better than him, not just in New Zealand but globally. Reiko has successfully transitioned from the wing and continues to showcase his running game. In the past two years, our main challenges were in the forward pack-lacking physicality and strength in set pieces. With significant improvements in these areas, our backs are now performing exceptionally well. JM is merely suggesting an alternative without presenting a definitive, superior option.
I love how Tindall seems to always get the wrong read before a RWC. Talks about Will Jordan being the best player, only to be limited to 11 meters made in the final and dominated by Cheslin Kolbe.
This pod reflects everything good about rugby, the nationalism, the socialising after the games, the people from different walks of life, mutual respect, good will banter, not taking life to seriously, leaving everything on the field, the love of the game etc. All team's have one eyed fans, poor losers and arrogant arse holes. Maybe some more than most😂. But that makes up the tapestry of the game. Rugby is a balance of speed, accuracy, discipline and power. Need all four to be a great team and hopefully for NZ they get the power right but I think they won't and might lose. South Africa to win 😅.
@@marcdaniels9079 bud you cant ignore everything and everyone in life hey... Its fun watching ignorant, arrogant people with a lack of depth get proven wrong time and time again..
Marshall had issues with players in this current ABs and was drunk when having ago at some of the players than didn't get his SKY contract renewed. He needs to keep of this piss.
Obviously, but is that good or bad....also one less rest day for SA. Argentina was not exactly stressful for NZ. Boks have the best rotation in the world keeping that pack fresh, which is going to be better than anyone else anyway. AB's technically are the only team that can handle the SA scrum, not in overall power though.
Jordan, " the best player in the world" until Kolbe picks him up, spins him around and gently puts him down after Kwagga takes the ball out of his hands, like candy from a baby.😂
France should have won because they 'deserved' it. England because the were 'heroic'. NZ because of their 'great style'. South Africa: we dont lose finals...
"For the good of the game please let the AB's win" - Tindall. All that statement reveals is just how much Tindall dislikes SA, other than that it makes no sense. SA beat England because they are a better team, get over it.
Exactly! What is the good of the game? I want south africa to win coz inspires a nation, inspire a young boy to pick up a rugby ball instead of a gun or drugs, this is what we are playing for
They want the game to be a cross between 7s and league. The game has attracted new viewers because of the physicality. Need to speak to Elon Musk to keep scrums in rugby union 😁 😂
