Decided there weren't enough extended versions of GV already out there in the world, so I took the already extended SMiLE mix and looped the transcendent "Hum-be-dum" section (starting at 2:49) that I could listen to forever.
It aint Good Vibrations to me unless I hear those sweet extra backing vocals.

I seriously love the hum-be-dum section, I don't know why they removed it in re-releases. Breaks the mood when they don't include it

The re-released usually include the original single version- which omits the hum-be-dum section.

It makes an already long song too extensive for AM radio play. Hence there is zero reason to ever exclude it again. I totally agree with you about it being awesome. I only wish he had developed it even more using elements from Our Prayer.

The Hum-Be-Dum extended version would have been a lot awesome in 1966-67 just like The Beatles' Hey Jude. I don't know if i'd call it "anthemic mantra", it's really "good vibrations" to enjoy as a great part of this magnificent piece.

There's no meeting the sheer exuberance of their performance on this song. The joy is without bounds. I think it was the highest point they reached...and then they fell away, bit by bit.
