I can't help thinking that Brian was thinking of Buddy Holly's "Raining in My Heart". The middle part of "The Surfer Moon" still gives me goose bumps. Bravo Brian.

It's a harp. The same player who played the harp flourishes on Catch a Wave, Mike Love's sister.

originally written in 1962 for bob & sheri, a duo who were friends with brian. the boys revisited it for this recording in late 1963
