The Beach Boys - Wouldn't It Be Nice (Isolated Studio Vocals)

The Beach Boys' masterpiece "Wouldn't It Be Nice" from their 1966 album Pet Sounds, with all instruments removed, leaving the bare raw vocals in stereo with no extra processing.
The process to extract this required many hours of delicate isolation for each of the seven vocal overdubs, so please excuse any artifacts. I've used the Brian Wilson bridge instead of Mike Love's as Brian's bridge is the only one that survives on the multitrack.

Yes, I agree. I’ve always loved Brian’s falsetto. It’s very strong but at the same time it has this ‘rough edge’ around it. It’s not too smooth. There are so many covers of men singing this song, but they’re al so cheesy with clean cut falsetto voices, they’re too perfect almost No one does it like Brian. His voice is really unique.

1966 I was in college in Iowa..this brings back such a carefree time, not going to Viet Nam, being deeply in love with my girlfriend, going to the drive in on my motorcycle with a blanket on the lawn provided just for that...Keg parties in the cornfields-Wouldn't it be nice.

Amazing to this day, without the ultra-mixing, synthesizers, computerized enhancement -- sure, Brian Wilson did the best he good to enhance sounds. There are few among the few who still today realize the achievements of this finished song.

1:06 if anyone knows who is hitting that extremely low bass sound and how? I presume Mike because he sings from his diaphragm but it is extremely impressive how immersive that bass sound feels.

Mike's bridge vocal in the original mix is decent but I'm sorry- on any day of the week 1966 Brian is just leagues ahead- on another level to Mike vocally

Oh, this definitely had compression and other effects. Sounds great, but it's not the actual vocals only.

I added a very slight amount of compression, yes. But they are mostly just the raw vocals. There are artifacts from the isolation.
