the " fuck bunch" line is kind of an inside industry reference. if you've ever been a chef or even worked as a line cook for a chef or even worked any position in a restaurant you'd know - working brunch is a nightmare. it sucks for a lot of reasons but mainly because you have to be there by 6:00am Sunday morning, everyone is usually hungover and sick and you have to simultaneously cook breakfast and lunch it gets complicated and stressful especially when brunch ends ( usually around 2:00 pm) and everything has to be switched over for the regular lunch and dinner service. I did it for three years while at college. it is a rough ride.
Richie's not a chef; he does general restaurant managing and maintenance things. i guess you could call him "Operations." and sometimes he works front of house, like taking orders at the register and such.
Richie is what you'd call to his face a manager, and behind his back an asshole. He doesn't contribute, he gets in the way, he doesn't respect Carmy's work (understandably, because he's also still dealing with the shock of Michael's death) but thankfully he has a very well-done character arc in season 2
Carmy wasn't going to alcoholics meeting. He was going to Al-anon. That's a meeting for people who are affected by someone's alcoholism or addiction. He did say his brother was an addict not necessarily an alcoholic.
I’m sure they figured it out later on. It’s made pretty explicit what that meeting is about as the season goes on, even if you don’t know the difference between AA and al-anon
I'm from Chicago born and raised. I know I'm biased but Chicago is truly a beautiful city. It's undeniably gorgeous, unique and full of soul. It's a living breathing thing and the Bear captures it better than any medium I've ever seen. I've met many Europeans who visit every summer and they consistently tell me it's their favorite US city.
You know how in a normal action-heavy or emotional shows there's moments of quiet and peace? In the Bear everything is screaming until there's a small moment of healthy communication and that makes it that much sweeter lol
Tuesdays are my favorite reaction days now :) There's something really refreshing about the depiction of relationships in this show, all the different kinds of them
Chicago style Italian beef sandwiches are AMAZING. Get them juicy with some Pepperoncini peppers and a little pastrami on top they are just amazing when you get them from places that know how to make the Italian beef right. Best sandwich ever imo.
😣 The second Sydney reached for the stock. Ouch. Agree about the soundtrack. I also appreciate the performances and cinematography. Carmy said Mikey was an addict.
in the us (and maybe other places? idk) al-anon meetings are for family/friends of alcoholics to talk with like minded people and process trauma, and alcoholics anonymous or AA meetings are for the alcoholics themselves to do the same. carmy is going to the al-anon meetings.
It’s pronounced R.E.M. That’s an acronym for rapid eye movement. Each letter is pronounced individually not altogether like REM. The song was “Oh My Heart.”
Hey.. Just a suggestion.. If you have a question.. Try watching the show.. Whether it's Indian or Filipino.. German or English.. Shows or movies generally answer the questions you have about the characters of the show itself.. For example.. If a show is 10 episodes long(Damn) and in the first 2 episodes you are wondering "Hey is he a bad guy?".. 99.99999% chances are.. That you're going to find out in the next 8 episodes..
sorry but how can you guys honestly love tine the woman does nothing to help only causes kore issues and then complains when other pople try to fix things i honestly hayte tina with a passion the woman (character only obviously) she is useless
It literally shown/stated in the show that people love Michael, and by desperately trying to keep the old "system"/denying changes is basically them being afraid of accepting changes, which is the same as accepting that Michael is truly dead. The whole show is about people grieving and afraid to let go. Imagine spending most of your life in a place with a loved one, one day they're just gone without notice, confused but with no time to grieve/process; and then new people suddenly come in and try to change everything to the place that is heavily embedded with memories of that loved one, and changing the "system" that the loved one had created (even if it is flawed). Don't know about you but I'd be blinded by unresolved closure and would act out too. If anything, such characters of Tina and Richie are the most admirable because they allowed themselves to break out of their own denial/pride to process, grieve, and change their perspective.
@@dh5363 yes and that is the same with Richie and many of the others there yet Tina doesn’t just not want the changes to goes out of her way to mess up a new employee who at this point may not have anything to do with the changes so maybe rewatch it there is not wanting change and then there is just being a shitty person and at the start of this show Tina is 100% a shitty person through and through but in all fairness she does become one of my favorite characters in the whole show check out my reactions at @JayEmReacts
Late, but I do think Daredevil is pretty consistent quality and tone with a lot of the stuff they do watch. I've no doubt that they'd love Foggy & Karen. Gets a little dicey after S2 with tie-ins to other shows but S1 for sure could be a pretty self-contained series if they wanted.
