It's good to see Freddy King and Gatemouth Brown, with "Gate" playing that white Fender Jaguar. Hoss Man was one of the late night guys on WLAC radio with John R. Richbourg. WLAC kept company to a lot of musicians riding home from work all over the South in the late 1960's.

I was amazed to find these old shows on RU-vid! Thanks so much, they bring back tons of memories. "The Beat" was shown on our local tv station at midnight on Friday nights in 1966. I was 12 years old and even at that age I was staying up to see this show, and I also listened to The Hossman and John R. on WLAC radio out of Nashville. Really great times.

Louis Jordan & The Tympany Five started out in the late 1930's. Chuck Berry stole his famous Johnny B. Goode opening guitar riff from Louis' horn. Little Richard's "Keep A-Knockin'" was first a Louis Jordan & The Tympany Five number too. Louis had the line: "... I can tell you been drinkin' gin"... But Little Richard was marketing his music to a teenaged audience and wisely dropped that lyric. I'm wondering if that is the great Billy Butler with the stratocaster...? Anybody know...?
