Here's a lesson on the song that launched the British invasion in the U.S. I go in to the details of both John & George's part. Thanks to Richie Russo for playing drums. Chart & tabs at: www.MikePachelli.com
notes: George recorded the song on his 1962 Rickenbacker 425. I should have mentioned that. I do these lessons - live to tape - and sometimes forget to explain every detail. Sorry 'bout that. My Gretsch reference should've said "George played it on his Gretsch when we first saw them on the Sullivan show..."

MIke puts in the time and every vid I've seen of his is perfection. I can't believe or tolerate the negative comments here. I've been playing over 40 years and learned all these songs and they sounded GOOD. But, when I watch Mike, I woefully see that I had missed things here and there. Besides that, he has a deep love for this music as well as a perfect ear for it. I've never seen or heard better. You negative guys are just malcontents and don't have a clue . Wake up. Mike is the real deal and love watching him pick apart all the music of the Beatles. I'm in the early stages of learning guitar playing BUT I was at the prime age in my early teens to appreciate not only the Beatles but all the music that was happening at that time. I was a drummer so knew a bit about music. Difficult to interview a well known person and Paul kind of scoffed it away. your question and I would of felt BUSTED on his kind of casual reply. I'm sure you stayed up wondering what question i could ask and he down played it, my own opinion. Mike your the Best of the Best, keep up the great playing and Beatles info on RU-vid. Thanks !!!

I would like to add my shoutout for Mike Pachelli. While I was never a Beatles fan (growing up in the Punk/New Wave era) I have spent the last month locked down in Thailand practicing 'I want to Hold Your Hand' and 'All My Loving' using Mike's tutorials. I have gained a new respect for Lennon & Co. but above all an appreciation for the time (and love) that Mike puts into his videos.

I was a teenager when The Beatles exploded across America. I always knew that they were special but it took me years to understand just how musically innovative and inventive they really were. Their music seemed simple but it was actually amazingly complex, as I learned as a guitar student. They well deserve the title of Greatest Rock and Roll Band of All Time.

the more i learn about them...the more i see WHY they were so great TOGETHER. Each one of them naturally knew HOW to use the rhythm...the essence of the song and ADD to it with UNDERSTATEMENT and creativity. John with his rhythm guitar. George with his lead guitar, Paul and his bass and yes--even Ringo--maybe ESPECIALLY Ringo and his unique drumming style that was the glue and the perfect man for the job. Simply remarkable--the young ages, the era of time (60's), their natural fit. Truly lightning and magic in a bottle called: The Beatles.

My favorite parts of this song come from George's parts. I feel the real genius regarding the guitar playing came from George. He was a very young man playing at the level of a very seasoned guitar player. His instinct when it came to what a song needed was a step above most at that time.

That was absolutely awesome, Mike! I learned a lot and you killed the performance. Thanks for doing this.

I heard Peter Asher talk about how John and Paul wrote this on a piano and that Peter was the first person to hear it as they performed it to him side by side on the Asher family piano. In my opinion John’s bouncy rhythm emulates the way it would be played on a piano. Again great job here!

That was great, all these years I been playing with a B-minor instead of a b7 on the chorus. Just love the end performances. JJ

Fantastic, Mr. Pachelli! Even though I can't play a musical instrument I am such a fan of your videos and was delighted to see that you'd created one for this song. I've loved the Beatles all my life and, with your remarkable skill, expertise and delivery, you enhance my appreciation of what they achieved -- something that I'd previously have thought impossible. Thank you very much.

The middle eight here is the killer - especially for its time ( 1963 ) When you heard that for first time you just knew these guys were unlike anything that gone before . They took the best of American music - Little Richard / Chuck Berry ,/ Buddy Holly and took it to next level.
